Cxbx is temporarily paused

Just a notice, I am unable to work on cxbx fulltime anymore (priorities :[). I am still going to try to dedicate some time to working on it at home, but I have a big problem: my monitor has decided it would be fun to display random huge brightly colored text as an overlay in front of my screen.

This isnt a driver issue or a virus, as it occurs even when the monitor isnt plugged into a PC (its just a hardware failure). I am looking at buying a new alienware system, but I dont have the excess cash right now to justify the purchase. (btw: this is where donation money from cxbx's site will go) Im trying to get in touch with alienware's sales in order to work out some deal, but who knows...

caustik

ps. This by no means that cxbx is *halted*, i just want to make it understood that i may not be churning out releases at anywhere near the rate that i have recently. i havent been coding on it since last friday.

Nah i'm due for a total system upgrade. Im thinking replace the monitor for now, and soon get a whole new development box and 2nd monitor. I can probably just go pick up a monitor from frys today.

Well Alienware is prtty expensive. You can get the same peices custo built at a computer place for hundreds if not up to a thousand dollars cheaper. Just save money.

Re: Cxbx is temporarily paused

Im sure most of us would agree its best to build your own computer. Dont spend money on some rig you see in a store. You could save a ton of money shopping for parts online. Good luck!

No offense, but I don't see why he'd want to upgrade to a computer significantly worse than the one he already has.. :\

caustkl, why don't you just custom build your computer, it will save you a lot of money! Alianware is a rip off, if you get the same stuff, but buy it, and build it yourself you will save at least $500 or more!!!!

Re: Cxbx is temporarily paused

Next paycheck I get, I'm gonna send half of it to you. Should be about 60 bucks.

P.S. What does the term alienware mean? Is this the same thing as saying "aftermarket"?

Re: Cxbx is temporarily paused

Everyone pitch in! It's almost like giving out tithing. What are you gonna do with that 50 bucks huh? Exactly, buy a video game. So reset your priorities and get that rewarding donative feeling. Your consience and Caustik will appreciate it.

Alrighty, bought a 19" viewsonic flat crt, wireless keyboard, and a 200GB western digital. Life is good. Hopefully this will motivate me to sit down and code!
