Interesting BIOS hack

I found thing over at *deleted* and found it pretty interesting. It shows you how to hack the original Spanish/PAL BIOS to English/NTSC but its not confined to those only. Even though the BIOSes for all the regions are available to download, this can let you choose any language in any of the regions. Quite a few combinations there. :-D

And they are also convinced you can get those AV cable issues to go away by modifying the bios or the boot files on the disc.

What do you guys think of this?

EDIT: Well because one dope over there put one link to an illegal site you guys can't be linked to it. But if you want to read it check out 1emulation Site News.

the way ive been told to get round the AV Cable problem is to somehow replace the ip.bin file (dunno how they manage it) you can get that from Emutalk on the link below.

Just make sure the dc_flash.bin file is not write-protected and change the language in the bios settings to english. Violá Pal - English bios.

If you delete/rename dc_flash.bin to something else and start Chankast the emu will make a dc_flash.bin file with a red swirl (which would be the American version of the dc_flash.bin. Works with the bios, however I have not tested to boot games with the Chankast made flash.bin).

Happy gaming

Small trivia: the reason they swirl is blue in Europe is because the red swirl looked to much like another companys logo.

[edit:] Yes you can make the AV problem "go away" by hex-editing or patching. Thou.... Really isn't worth the trouble. Better to wait for a new version of Chankast.
