Hi. Every time I try and load any self-booting game, I come across this message, and I get stuck in the bios.
"This game doesn't support the AV cable that is currently connected to the main console. Turn off the power and replace the AV cable." Does anybody know what this means? Thanks .

This means the game doesn't support VGAbox, and this support is required to get the game running. So if it doesn't support it, it will give that message.
Try playing games which do support it, you can look at it on the back of the GD case Afterall you do own that part of the game like anyone else ![]() Btw. at the sticky thread you can see which games run and which don't, you might wanna take a look in there. Good luck! Cid H. |

You need to hex edit the image file.
Open it up in hex workshop or any other hex editor and search for 'katana' then look a few characters across and you'll see JUE and a number (0799900) change it to 0799A10, I've been told this works but when I tried it my machine took along time to save and I get IOcontrol errors when i boot it in chankast!

Razor Blade, you make your OWN images self bootable, silly
.And i haven't gotten that method to work. On another thread, someone said you have to burn the image, but me, and another person, both tried it on seperate games (me, bangai o. him, soul calibur), and we couldn't get the image to burn properly after we edit it... So i dunno. |

I tested some, and figured out that games that do not support a DC VGAbox won't work on chankast;
in other words: chanka is running as if a VGA box is being used. You won't see any 50/60hz options in games either. Maybe games can be altered to be VGA compatible but I have no experience with that. Of the older KOF games (99 dreammatch and 99 evolution) I'm pretty sure they won't work since they're using different resolutions. |

AV Cable error can be solved by setting VGABox flag in IP.bin and then image have to be burn on CD. This works for my Skies of Arcadia and game boots then =). Without burn the image and mount it with Daemon Tools or something like that it gives IOcontrol errors in Chankast.

Soul Calibur supports the VGA-Box just fine. I had my Dreamcast hooked up to 19in” monitor for over a year and had no problem with Soul Calibur. In fact the only game I had a problem with was King of Fighters dream match 99. Everything else ran fine.

Sould Calibur is indeed listed as VGA compatible; I don't really know why for some people it's giving the A/V cable error. Maybe there are 2 versions, or it's a detection error or something. I found a (little outdated) vga compatibility list here...

My Soul Calibur is not VGA-box compatible, so i hex-edited the image (cdi), then tried on the emu --> ioControl errors, so i burned it on a CD-RW with DiscJuggler, tried loading the game from the CD-RW in the emu and it worked like a charm. Then i created a CDI image from this CD-RW using DiscJuggler, i loaded the image in daemon-tools, fired up the emu, and my game worked perfectly from the CDI image as from the CD-RW.
Strange thing indeed..

Yes, I have the same experience with Skies of Arcadia and it's really pretty strange. Maybe there is some checksum of CDI iamge format which is recomputed when burning or I don't know :o). Anybody know the reason why hexedited and burned image is not the same ?
