Discjugular. LOL.
Discjuggler. ![]() Anyway, I use Alcohol 120% to burn images.. it burns just about any image. However, even after hex-editing and burning I couldn't get my SC to work. Same IOcontrol error.

I still get the IO-error at times though, maybe you could try burning it at slower speed?

What is the difference between a burned copy and the image itself, in other words what makes a burned copy work and not the image. Can someone check their burned cd(my burners broke) and check what files is on there?

All the same files, but some how hexediting messes with how the virtual drive works, hence IO (input output) error. Odd though, how being on a different medium would really affect much.
eXplorer: I'll try at 8X later on, I burned it at 52X (which has never failed me for any other game, including DC games).

Actually, the hex 0799A10 , the "A" part is for having rumble pack support. The "1" number is for enabling VGA BOX support.
The correct one would be 0799810, although it makes no difference. If you want to check this, download IPBIN4WIN

I know there is something wrong with the burned cd. Someone said that he burned the hex-edited cd and then made an image of that, and that it worked fine. But when I try to make an image, I get errors. Nero also refused to burn the hex-edited image so I used Alcohol instead. Maybe there's just something wrong with my CD-RW or maybe the hex-editing causes the image to burn badly.
And I have also tried to insert the IP.BIN to the image, but it was of no use. (Or I did it wrong...)

Probably you are screwing the parity, crc or whatever other error check it uses when hex-editing, and then the burning program just puts the correct values... maybe :P

Soul Calibur works fine (I used the Hex editor/burn method,) on a CD for me. I used Discjuggler to burn it, even though I believe the image was in NRG format. *shrug* Oddly enough, when I went to burn it, it told me there was something wrong with the file format or something like that, and it asked me if I wanted to fix it. I told Discjuggler "No, b!tch," and let it burn at 1x (I had a Gameboy Advance SP on hand at the time so the time flew by ^_^) It's possible that maybe other burning programs would automatically fix the problem Discjuggler reported to me without asking for input, and that might be what's giving people that burn their CDs an Iocontrol error.

As previously stated, the CD image likely has some kind of checksums to allow programs that use it to be aware of corruption. I think it would be easier to just wait for a new version of Chankast that either lets you choose your AV connection or allows you to force the game to be VGA compatable.
