How to make a non-selfbooting image a self-booting image?
Ok, well. I know that a lot of the games are not self-booting. So i was just wondering, is there a way to make it self-booting? I dont know of any apps or stuff, so could some1 point me in the direction of a good app and a tutorial on how to make it self-boot?

There's always the Utopia boot disc.
Hint: Try to specify your thread by not naming it: Yes yes, i know this may be a stupid question. Instead name it: How to make a game self-bootable?? This might prevent you from getting stupid answers in return. Greetz, Cid H. |

I never tried this:
1. Use a virtual CD rom Drive 2. Run Chankast with an Utopia boot disc image mounted in it. 3. Boot Utopia in Chankast 4. When it asks for the game: Dismount Utopia, and mount the game disc 5. Hit a button. Remember, I haven't tried this, it's only a theorie thought up at 3.16am

Yep, just be sure you select the virtual drive letter in the configuredrive screen (in chankast)

You have to burn them if I remember correctly. I tried to run SmashDC using alcohol 120% and it did now work (It gave me an IO error). After I burned it it loaded up and hanged at a black screen. We only support how to selfboot homebrew games, which you can find a tool at http://www.ngemu.com/dc/dcgenerator.php?action=tools .... otherwise don't ask.

The people who can run it (me included) have the VGA flag set while the others haven't.

Well, they say you can just hex edit your ISO (if you're running from a CD you have to create it first) and search for JUE. You will see a bunch of hexadecimal characters after it, something like this: 799B10. I copied that from my working Soul Calibur ISO so I guess you should get it working of you make it the same.

Any games that give you the AV cable error you need to simply edit the bootstrap of your iso to enable VGA box support. It's not hard. Just do a search with google and you'll figure it out.
Same for making things self booting, just do a search or read a homebrew site like dcemulation.com on how to make a emulator self booting, but instead do it with your backup or whatever the hell it is. |
