Speed issues

Firstly my specs:
MoBo Albatron KX600 (Via KT600)
AMD AthlonXP 1700+ OC 1.650 MhZ (Fsb 150)
Geforce Fx 5200 with Fireware 60.72
DDR 2700 256 MB
WinXp pro Sp1
----------------------------------------------
My questions,
I've seen others with a the same (or lower!) spec getting HIGHER fps cound in chankast. I've only manage to get 35 fps average in the bios. Any tips on improving speed?

Is playing with burned CD lower performance? Is it better to just put hte image on disk and mount it?

Thanks in advance guys

Well there are three different versions of Chankast, it might have to do something with that. Try the others, maybe it will help. Maybe you are running more background programs? It might sound far fetched: Spyware which causes your system to slow down?

Thanks for the tip guys. It does makes a difference albeit slightly.
I'll keep trying. BTW the 35 fps is the average of all the 3 version of chankast.
What about the buned CD Vs. The CD image?
Thanks again!

I found no significant change between cd image and burned cd.
It also depends on the game, some may not emulate too well which is why the gfx glitches appear this can cause a slow down.
Try not to use the windows xp default scheme, although it looks nice it also eats alot of resources.

Well, i've been doing some tinkering with my Xp setup (thanks for the tip about Xp themes, Tookers). Now my bios speed is roughly 48~55 fps (was 36+ fps)!!!
MvC2 is still only 40+ fps ingame, menus and char select about 47 fps. IT'S SMOOTH!
well i like playing it better in my DC though

Here's what I did. Go down to http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm (AWESOME XP tweaking site) and do all tweaking stuff. As i said before i got at least 10~20 fps increase!
I do think running the emu in lower resolution and color depth would also help.
