You must set your virtual drive, and click just init, but be sure, that you have flash and bios .bin in chankast directory.
Ps. Don`t even think about asking where you can get this two files!!

stupied question
i have windows xp pro. i don't know why i keep having this problem when i click the init i get this window messege saying"this window needs to close down". i have both the flash and the bios files in same directory where chankast is. is there some other way to load up a game? i do have daemon tools to create the virtual drive. and 1 more thing what is the "init" for under options?

I have Win2k and it runs! I donīt have tested any games yet, but the Bios runs very well at 43fps and with the newgfx Version at 50fps! Thats all on my 2000+ AMD System with a old GeForce 2 MX card! _Austin_ |

On the Chanka.org site it states it will only run properly on Windows xp or above
I dont know the technical details of why this is. I have Windows 2000 and can run the BIOS however the games I have ran dont seem to work, I think this may be due to the cdrom.dll requiring a dll only avaliable with windows xp Heres a tutorial fror chankast i found... http://www.emulatronia.com/parcial/chankast.zip Its a pdf file and contains all the info needed.

Im going to install Windows XP.. if it works then I guess the operating system is the problem. I think the dev team for chankast are spanish... they are featured on alot of spanish emu sites.

Which version of Chankast are you using?
Try the new_gfx version, have you configured the controls and which cd drive to use? My problem is different as I have windows 2000 and can only boot to the bios but not into any games. Are you using daemon tools? You can only use cdi, iso or any other type of dreamcast image file, i think it has to be self-boot also. Chankast doesnt actually have a GD rom driver and so booting from physical cd isn't possible

Shouldnt matter... just mount the cdi file. Have you checked your system log files? this may show whats causing the problem, as it may be a certain file.
Right Click 'My Computer' > Select 'Manage' > Double Click 'Event Viewers' > System Run Chankast again and then do as i said above and it should show what error caused chanka to crash.

To boot a non selfboot dc game on chanka I think you can use a boot disc (same method used with non-self-boot discs on the dc). I have the Utopia cdi image, which should work with chanka.
