Hi, this would be my first post here.

It's this awesome emulator that brought me here!

You can fix some of the games that give you the "AV cable" error by hex editing the CDI format image (this may work with Nero images too). To be more specific, your enabling VGA capabilities.

Instructions can be found here...

*URL removed - sorry, but we can't link to that site due to some of its content*

I'm pretty sure this method would work on Nero images aswell but I don't have one to test it on.

BTW, the FAQ above covers DC images in general so it's really an all around good read. This includes making non-bootable images bootable.

Holy Sauche! This is an impressive alpha emulator.

I can get Power Stone running on my PC!

The music is very choppy though that can be attributed to the low frame rates I'm getting. (About 18-20 FPS)

There are minor graphic glitches, but overall the game looks great!

Congrats to the developers of Chankast!

Take a look, I'm using the GFX version:

For those who are getting AV errors in games like Soul Calibur, it's because chankast (i'm guessing) is emulating the vga box as well, and rendering all games in vga mode, makes it easier for monitor use i'm guessing. Well, i found an article on megagames (not sure if i can post the link here, it's got some other non-ngemu-friendly content on it ). Here's what it said
Quote:
Self-boot games
Not always, the person who patched the game to self-boot has to enable the option to use the VGA-box when they patch the IP.BIN file. Also, if you still have the *.CDI file you can hex-edit the file. Just follow these steps:
  1. Open FILENAME.CDI in your favorite hex editor. And do a search for "KATANA".
  2. Scroll down a little until you see the string "JUE" (see vgafirst.jpg).
  3. Change the number string after "JUE" to "0799A10" (see vgasecond.jpg).
  4. Save your new file.
  5. Burn, and enjoy on your VGA box.
i'm guessing that if you do this, you can then play your SC. It's a little suspicous though, that so many people are having such a problem with the same game.......

edit: i need new glasses, i missed the previous post that links to this quote....

Marvel Vs Capcom 2 is very playable. Sound is distorted most of the time, but the game itself runs fairly well. I'm getting about 50-60 fps most of the time. Expecially in the less 3d background arena's. Amazing alpha release. I'll post some shots later..

If you do this it gives an unspecified IO error immediately after the swirly splash screen and then goes to the cd player.

Yeah I have the same problem too. The only game I tested so far is MvsC 2. The emu just hangs after the third fight(the screen just grey).
I will try other games to see if the problem persists.
