Chankast... was it fake or not?
I just read over at the Dream Party site that the makers of Chankast (Dreamcast emulator) aren't going to release anything else to do with the emulator and are certainly not releasing any test versions. I was a bit skeptical at first at how the team had rapidly developed a working DC emu whilst other teams have been around longer and the difficult hardware emulating etc.
Spanish to English translation of what was on the site is here... written just hours before a release of Chanka was expected... Quote:

Even though your "quote" is not fully in english nor spanish it doesn't say that they won't release anything... but that they will release it tomorrow... I'd like the link to this article in order to translate it properly and figure out what is really going on.

A bird has told us that there won't be an emu until tomorrow, so to everyone take a rest. Dear Dreamers, we are totally sure that these shows of support and gratitude you will have thme for the Chankast team, because they deserve it and they have realized an incommensurable task. From MadriDC we appreciate all the emails that you send us but we had decided this very same morning not to publish anything else referring to Chankast, first because the release is imminent, no one better than the very same developers to explain us all about the functioning, compatibility and all the topics related to the emu. We can't offer you any test version, just a few hours, don't ask why we don't have them and we know that you are all eager, we just have to wait a bit more. Don't worry as we will have everything well delivered, for now there are no more news nor we are going to provide them until Chankast is officially released. A greeting and let's suffer a bit more. Yeah... the emu is sooooooo fake... Note: some stuff sounds a bit dumb but that's because some sayings can't be fully translated into english. Note 2: for the kids... if you don't know spanish babelfish ain't an option... |

By the way, this is an article that was posted at Dream Party a few hours before the other:
Quote:
As a bomb we can anticipate that compatibility wise Chankas is able to run Ikaruga and REZ. Two are the games that make use of the MMU, thing never emulated until now on the DC. On another topic it has been confirmed that they have desisted from implementing the swap-disc option making Autoboot Back-ups the only option to be executed on the eumlator. As well as that, they have informed us that their website will be active and providing information as well as all the first hand news at chanka.org. Those who know spanish will notice the absence of the translation on the Icarus' part... use the same logic as I and you will understand why I chose to skip it... |
