Dead emulator?

I hope you dont mind me asking, but what happened to this emulator? I think its sad that people make emulators and suddenly just stops working on them! Some of the emulators could be great!

Just because there hasnt been any releases it doesnt mean its dead. the show's not over till the fat lady sings, you could say.

a prime example of this is epsxe, there hasnt been a release in over 3 years, in your perspective that emu would be dead, but they have just announced they are working on 1.7.0, even the testers have been trying it out. So it goes to show, just cos there isnt a release every 5 minutes, doesnt mean the emu has been jacked in.

People have lives, interests that change, and get bored of coding applications once the initial "let's make it work" fun goes away. There's nothing you can do about that else than writing your own emulator or hope they'll continue someday and wait :P

Sorry for asking then!

It`s just that 4 years is a long time. No news, no updates, the official homepage is old, the forum is pretty much dead.

You mean 5 years, don't you? epsxe 1.6.0 release seems to have been on August 2003 (from the official webpage).

Janolsen86: We already gave you an example from an emulator that was 5 years in complete silence and just announced an imminent release, what's else do you want to be told?

well when we know, you'll know, but there has been no official word on the emu being dead, so we can only presume otherwise.

nullDC has taken over the Dreamcast emulation.

I don't Chankast will come back again as everyone always goes for nullDC.

Yeah, I just designed a logo and await for their approval. I hope they can keep improving that code since its far from being 100% perfect.

I was just so surprised by requirements of both Chankast and nullDC to emulate dreamcast perfectly. Its quite surprising since it a 300mhz system.

Well, given the usual 10x minimum ratio, it should require a 3ghz machine, keeping in mind that, afaik, the Dreamcast GPU is painful to emulate, so the requirements are quite normal.

Well, it's their code, so it's entirely their decision. Might be they have personal code they use on other project that don't want to see under an open-source license.
