Yes, I'm feeling shameful, I can assure that I'm not totally idiot (well, maybe it's not true, cannot confirm it by myself), but I'm playing Super Robot Wars Alpha and like it was reported by others users in stage 47 of the super robot route epsx (and many other emulators) freezes. I've read that it seems to work with Xebra (that was the first time I've read that name) and I've tried to use it but I'm not capable. So first of all:
does it work with an Athlon XP (in other words no SSE2 instructions). I hope it's not like SSF (I've tried to figure out for days why it doesn't work on my pc... and it was the CPU itself).
If yes, what I need to do to play a game? I've copied and renamed the bios (that anyway it seems to not be need by arbex; btw what is the difference between xebra and arbex?).
Well, I hope that anyone that use this emulator can help me here, it's the second time I start SRWAlpha and I stop here.

Take a look at this guide (http://forums.ngemu.com/1075497-post11.html) by SimoneT.

And as you concluded yourself the difference between Xebra and Arbex is that Arbex doesn't need a PSX BIOS (OS ROM) to run.

Thank you very much for the link (but in the end I managed to make it working by myself, tough that thread explains how to make work the CD-ROM). This is an awesome emulator, not only it's useful with Alpha (but the game emulation itself is quite slow, maybe my PC isn't enough powerful?), but it works perfectly with SD Gundam G Generation and Giren Greed (the first has several problem with epsx and similar emulator, the later simply doesnt start).

Open View/Video Output/Cycle(3).
Change 5 to 0.

I tryed to play The legend of dragoon whit Xebra but the audio and the video are low, so i can't understand what the characters says.

PS: in my video output there isn't any cycle(3)!

Is there a way to swap discs with this emu? I opened another image while my current game says insert disc whatever and then hit run 2 and it just stays at the disc change screen. Nevamind, I figured it out.

I know this is an old thread but I cannot get my controller to work with xebra
I am using a wired xbox (360) controller for PC.
I select controller 1 & I have tried every configuration option available eg: digital, Analog or none etc. & nothing works for me.
Also when I use the keyboard to navigate around a game I have to use keys "W" & "S" to move up/down & "K" for select/enter.
Surely the program cannot be set up to use those keys as default,, or is it?.

It's a shame this program has such an unfriendly configuration setup because its audio & graphics quality outshines any other emu I have tried.

Why not just make a new thread? Anyway, wish I could help ya, but I don't know much about Xbox stuff. I just use a Playstation 3 joystick and Motioninjoy which works perfectly for me.
