can you play 2 player link mode

is it possible to play in 2-player link mode, like linking up two consoles. I ask this for Ridge Racer Revolution to access the link mode tracks ??

Not possible at this time. pSX Author made some mention a while ago about the distant possibility of including it, but you can be sure that even if he does get some work done on it, it's gonna be quite a few months before you could expect to see it. Basically, it'll be a difficult thing to do, and there are a lot of other things he wants to get done before he even starts work on something like that.
