3GHz is not that huge for overclocking.... I'd say that almost any P965 board can easily get to 3Ghz or more just make sure you don't go too cheap ;). Gigabyte or Asus, those are my top motherboard companies :D.

Hope you got the G0 stepping Q6600, I've heard good things about them. The Kentsfield overclock best with a P35 chip board from what I've been reading lately...and like tuan said, Asus and Gigabyte are preferred by the majority of overclockers out there.

I'd also advice to get P35 motherboard made by either ASUS, Gigabyte or Abit.

Not sure about quad core, but my new Asus Commando mobo can take my E6600 past 4GHz like it was a breeze. It's also capable of running 500FSB+ (with added chipset cooling) so that will really help with overclocking.

When did you get a Commando ian :p? You seem to switch motherboards every couple weeks or something ;).

my DS3 just bit the dust last week, so I got it RMA'ed but the guy let me get a diff board, so I got the commando. I'm totally in love with it already :D Instant 4GHz overclock and no POST problems :D
