Well, its that time again. Time for me to be outdated. Because AMD announced the arrival of the Phemon processors, a Dual core, Quad core, and FX version. My question is this:
The new Phemon processors support HT 3.0, which offers improved speeds over HT 2.0, which I aparently have right now. I will be getting a Phemon processor when they come out (if they arent already...), because AM2+ is backwards compatible with socket AM2 motherboards, but without the use of HT 3.0. Will I see a speed increase with the use of HT 3.0? Or is it a technology with no current support?
PS, I will be getting a dual core phenom, as I personally think quad cores are useless at this point in time if you dont have a server. And FX processors are just not in the budget. Phenom dual cores will reach 2.8 Mhz, at least that was what was announced by AMD.
