Call Of Duty 3 (Xbox 360 - Also available on other consoles)

You would've thought after the millonth WW2 game, the genre would have been too washed up to make a decent game, however, Activision made a pretty good game this time around. The graphics are so much pettier this time. I was disappointed by CoD2s ugly textures (on 360), but they look much better this time.

System Tested on:
Xbox 360 (SDTV, via S-Video)

Gameplay (8/10):
The level designs are actually pretty decent, in other call of duties, they seemed to repeat a bit, however, the level designs in CoD3 can keep you interested.

It could have definently been better in some aspects, sometimes you seem to get stuck in some areas and you have to fight with the controller a bit to get out - this could be fixed in a future update, however. Also, there are some frame rate drops that make the game a bit unenjoyable at times.

There isn't really too much "original" about the game, because it is based of actual events. The story line seems a bit better than CoD2 however.

The AI in this game is pretty good -- sometimes a bit too good. You can sit back and watch your buddies take out all the enemies in some cases, which is kind of annoying.

Sound (8.5/10):
I used my cheap 5.1 sorround system, and it sounds pretty decent. You can hear people talking and shooting behind you, but its not nearly as good as the sound in Gears of War is. The voice acting seems kind of generic at times as well.

Graphics (8.9/10):
Like I said earlier, the graphics in this game are much improved over earlier call of duties, but the frame rate dips can get very annoying. I also notice some werid glitches occasionally. It looks amazing on my friends HDTV.

Replay value (7/10)
As decent as this game is, I don't see too much replay value, multiplayer got boring fast, and always seemed to have noticable lag. The multiplayer is pretty much your typical FPS type modes, so there isn't anything interesting there. The story line isn't quite good enough to have a lot of replay value.

Overall (8.1/10)
This is a decent game, not exactally mind blowing, but its better than some of the other WW2 games that have been released.

I only reccomend this game to you if you have enjoyed other CoD games, or you just love FPS games.,

Screenshots would be nice. A link to a youtube video too.
I'll take the freedom to include some in this early reply.

I really loved this game, it felt very epic. I don't know if it has much replay value though, right when I was done, I turned it off and haven't really found much interest.

From gamespy:
Secondly, the game will be coming to just about every system except PC. Why? Well, we're not really sure.

COD3 for PC ?

Think Vista-only and 12 months later. This doesnt look like a geforceFX-candidate

Never try the X-Box version. I just finish the PS-2 version last week. It's just good game. Not much stress and adrenaline rush compare with MoH: Vanguard. Peace.

Does the PS2 version have frame rate drops that, apparantally, all the next generation systems have?

No, I played though the entire game, and had no fps drop.

Kind of amazing how last gen systems run it fine. Granted, next gen looks better, but it's a framerate nightmare at times.

Judging from the screenshots, the textures look rather low res to me. Just look at the walls at the interior screenshot, it's screaming "XBOX1".

There are some ugly textures from time to time, but most of the time, you're too into the game to really notice it.

Also, I would like to mention this which I didn't in my intial review:

I don't like how many objects have a lack of physics. If I shoot a glass bottle, it should break, fall over or SOMETHING. But no, it just makes bullet marks in it. Heh. Crappy Guns?

Heh, that's certainly putting us back in the previous century, I suppose you can only laugh at such things, especially if the decal texture is larger than the item itself :p

Such is what I've accepted from COD...it's a great game but they keep falling just short of that "amazing game" realm.

Indeed.

Maybe COD4? Well, we can dream.
