View Full Version : The best DS Flash Kits?

I've been reading a few things online, and thinking about getting one for awhile. But I dont want to get something that is going to turn out to be some piece of junk that doesn't have support or work right. What do people use on here, and what do you feel is the best? I imagine theres a favorite just like most other things, but im not sure what it is, and what are the cons compared to others. I read somewhere that M3 DS Simply, and R4 were the best, is that true? If so which is better?

I use SuperCard SD and no$gba for hacking ( yeah :P ), but it's useless ask here since most users (like 99,99% lol ) doesn't have a real ds and play the game in no$gba.
r4 is good, i plan to buy one, since it supports ards codes too.

I must be in the .01% then!
I had a SuperCard CF before I lost it. It was a great little card, but the stuff they have now for Slot-1 make it pale in comparison. I'd like to get an EZ Flash V with the expansion cartridge once I get the money.

I like the DS-X...granted they are a bit behind in firmware updates at the moment, but I still like it because it has it's own memory.

Don't get any SuperCards. I got the CF version of the SuperCard for the GBA a few years ago. The forum for technical help sucks. Firmware upgrades and GUI sucks and depresses me because it's so boring to look at. It doesn't work on all games and it even messed up the first CF card that I used with it. Luckily I was able to exchange the CF card at the Best Buy for a new one. Many realtime saves messed up on me and I lost my progress. Plus the games need to be patched and converted for use with the SuperCard which is an annoying process. I'm sure that the DS version isn't much better.

I'm a fan of M3. I had a M3 lite which used the microSD cards. Fits perfectly flush so know one could tell the difference i kept a few cars with me for more games. Having built in memory means you can only carry X amount of games and if ur me... u never know which games you would want to play till its time. M3 is the perfect.

well when u say M3 it's like u are just pronouncing R4 in another way becuz they are made in same industry as they have same compatibility only that R4 has good firmware updates but only problem i have heard is the spring or else if u want a cheap flash card which plays maximum number of ro... games then it's R4... Yet u could go for M3.The new flashcards like CycloDS seem good but expensive so better stick to either of these two and EZ flash expansion for gba (though am not very informed about it)
lastly umm just some extra information which i found on "the site that sigmax gave" forums... they talk about Dealextreme cheapest u can get only tht shipping takes around 2 week PM me for address or just search since they also have many interesting things

Wow, uber bump.
I'd get an R4. It's about the cheapest card you can find and has solid features.

Agreed... cheap is R4 (and maybe also 2nd best). The best i should say is CycloDS but a new card (acekard RPG) is going to come soon (15th september on bamboogaming) which which have dual memory storage is likely to be the best.
So bottomline buy R4 for cheapness and u won't regret it... it's great (just bought it) but for best is cyclo so far and maybe later on it will be acekard RPG

How much is R4?
Dualscreenman
September 11th, 2007, 13:27
$40-$50, depends on where you get it from. You can find it at most places for $45.

They got a new shell... looks good but dosen't make much of a difference. Get cycloDS really... it has high hopes for becoming the best in the future

The CycloDS Evolution HAS dethroned the R4...but it's a lot more expensive aswell.

R4 is the best that's all:D (and cheap:D:D)

So theres no advantage to spending the extra money on a cyclone? aka Games still play like great on both. Not missing out on anything important.

I had nothing but success with my M3 DS Simply when I had it. Played games real well, as well as movies and pictures. And as the name of it indicates, it's real simple

R4 and M3 Simply are the same thing with a different label.

the CycloDS Evolution has support for bigger and newer cards, which other's don't quite have yet and it's not certain whether support can be added with just a simple firmware update.

September 12th, 2007, 17:32
Does R4 have firmware updates?
SCHUMI_4EVER
September 12th, 2007, 18:55
Well yes it does, but nothing that can add support for use of the newer and bigger cards and it's not certain that such support can ever be added through the firmware as I said.
