Okay, has anybody has played SNK vs CAPCOM CARD FIGHTERS DS? :p The game is hella glitched, so I can't play through the new game +. I got an R4 to play the Rom backup because supposedly it doesn't have the glitch, but it does. Anyway, I heard it's hardware based, so I have to play past the glitch on NO$GBA and then put the save file back into my R4. Phew.

ANYWAY, I have no idea how to load my R4 save file (512kb, .sav) into NO$GBA, much less how to reverse the process after I play past the glitch. I've set it to "Uncompressed," I have a save converter and I've tried every setting with every memory state under "emulation options," but still I can't get a response from NO$GBA.

So, can anybody give me a walkthrough on how to:
1. take my R4 save file and load it in No$GBA
2. save my game, turn it back into R4 save format

Thanks!

The save directory for no$gba is called BATTERY. Put your save file there, and make sure it is the same name as your rom. (example, mygame.nds, save should be mygame.sav). Also, if the game says couldn't load save, then be sure to try each NDS save type in no$gba. Eventually, one of them will work.

For the reverse, you should be setting the save to "raw" in no$gba. "compressed" and "uncompressed" save types add in no$gba specific headers, plus other developer specific features that are not needed for your purposes.

Simply copy the save from the BATTERY directory, and apply whatever conversions necessary, (which there shouldn't be any, if the save is 512KBs already.)

Huh. I've tried a lot of combinations, but it still doesn't pick up anything at all. My save converter can turn my R4 (512kb, .sav) into -
SuperCard (.256kb, .sav)
M3 (256kb, .dat)
EzIV (272kb, .sav)
MicroNinja (256kb, .sav)
DSLinker (256kb, .sav)
G6 (256kb, .0/.1/.2 )
M3 simply (512kb, .sav)

Under emulation setup in No$GBA, the "NDS cartridge backup media" settings have some EEPROM and flash options that don't really match up. Do I need a different save converter, or is there some setting I'm missing?

e - sometimes the .sav in the folder will change from 512kb to 5kb despite no response from no$GBA. What?

see http://forums.ngemu.com/no-gba/88632-how-hack-your-pokemon-save-file-instructions.html

try to add/delete 76 bytes in your .sav

W... what? Add or delete 76 bytes from my R4 save? What good would that do at all unless I'm sticking it in that pokemon save hacker? All I need is proper settings in NO$GBA and the right file conversion from my R4 sav to NO$GBA save.

I am not sure it's possible....which is why I have said nothing before...no$gba uses it's own very different savetype.

open your no$gba save file and remove the first 0x4C bytes. and then try again.

I am not sure it's possible....which is why I have said nothing before...no$gba uses it's own very different savetype. If you use compressed or uncompressed. If you set it to raw it should work.

I was able to import my cv por savefile into it with the raw option and finally get in game. The screen was blank though. :P

Well, I put "raw" in the .ini, put my .512kb R4 .sav in the BATTERY folder, had NO$GBA set to 512 FLASH memory, and it just gives me the "new game" option. No "load game." Do I still have some settings wrong?

you have to put Uncompressed not raw ;p

SAV/SNA File Format == Uncompressed

i know this an old thread but just incase anyone is still reading this
you can convert nds save files using the following link

Savegames Converter website (http://www.shunyweb.info/convert.php#)

i used it to convert no$gba save files to and from ttds save files and works fine.
