View Full Version : saved state corruption

It seems that a my saved file got corrupted from castlevania DoS :(
My character is in the dark chapel about to fight the 2nd of the two bosses. The "X" and "Y" buttons won't work. Even when the keys are changed. And after a while the bottom screen locks up (within a minute or about 5 seconds after entering a different room). I'm able to debug it (thought don't have a clue what to send) and able to reset it or load the state again. And the audio won't work.
Should I send you the saved state so you can debug it or something?
The game was working perfectly before, though I died and wanted to reload the saved state and that is when my problems arrived.
If I restart the game and start from the beginning, everything works fine. I don't have any other saved states so looks like I'm gonna have to start from the beginning.
I also gotten a lot of 'white screens' and had to restart the emulator a few times.

Where should I upload the saved state to if you don't want by E-mail?

Ughh...don't use either of those...use zShare or just search for another of those, rapidshare and MegaUpload are crap and unreliable.

i would like to request to lino, can in the next version you add a option so quick saves can be changed to compressed and uncompressed? :)

it's a zip file you can use winzip o winrar to extract the memory.

No that's not what he mant Lino.
He meant to add an option to the emulator to make quick-saves/save-states either compressed or uncompressed.
In other words an option to make the saves created by that feature (save states) either compressed or uncompressed.

Savestates as in the quicksaves too, not the internal ds saving option. There's no point to compress those.
Also at the original poster, are you using the saverooms or the save state function? Try to use the saverooms and don't use savestates, they tend to break the games badly. If you're too far, use quicksave, then reset the game and reload from it.

saved state:
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3M3FBQT1)
I'll take my chances with mega upload now as I don't have the energy to google around and read up on several different upload sites... just ran a killer trail race that had plenty of nasty steep long hills.
If you can't get the file, I'll look around tomarrow some time.
Last time I played using the savestate, I was able to advance a few rooms until it locked up. Music and Y and X keys didn't work though. And the quick save idea didn't work too well... now if I attack it locks up or get hit by a monster... so can't get to the save room to try and save it normally.
Thanks for taking a look at it.
The save rooms don't work. I used them to heal and usually say yes to save, but when I start the game, it has no saved data.

I only have saved state problem when I change the plugin settings (e.g. saving game state with direct sound of 22050 Hz and trying to open the same state with direct sound of 44100 Hz).

LOL thanks, i didn't noticed that :rotflmao: it's bigger than the actual nds ram (4mb) oO but i think it doesn't dump all the memory (at least not with correct offsets) for example the IO 04000130 that has the GBA reversed input pad values (03FF with no buttons pressed) i can't seem to find nothing that finishes with 0130 that have that value. any info? i would like a FULL dump (0x00000000 to 0x08FFFFFF) option if possible :thumb:
I could simple ask about a memory search function, but since ideas need more development in the actual game core, I won't bother you... for now :) hehe

I've been using the save rooms, but they don't always actually 'save' so I've had to use both save rooms and save states to advance or I might find myself a good while back in the past to when it actually saved.
Thanks for the tip, didn't know save rooms worked as when I first tried using them, they didn't save my progress.
