Well this is a little faq for users with those problem.
First
No$gba components if you don't have this the emu won't work

Could not Read data and set save types
If the emu present this
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/4324/errorkd3.png
http://i7.tinypic.com/4q4gcyd.jpg
The only thing you got to do is set a save type (NDS cardtridge backup media)and reset the emu(*) if you find the correct save type go to option (save options)
http://i10.tinypic.com/4y8jozk.jpg
NOTE: occasionaly games boot up even on the wrong save type.
What happens then though is that when trying to save, you will encounter that same error (Could not read the data. Turn power off and reinsert the game card).
The fix is exactly the same just sellect the correct save type when starting the game next time, exactly as shown.
Unforutnately any game progress up to that point is forfit then if you had chosen the wrong save type and it fails to save with that error.
if you get an error "カード (CARD)" (on Japanese games) change the save type

use some on sense people (especially noobs), just change you'r save settings, and if the game crushs try to change your settings again.
NOTE: Most games runs well but with few glicths or bugs.

Theres a complete list of NDS games with their save type there.
But note that the site list the save types in bits not bytes, and no$gba uses KBytes, and desmume uses Kbits.
PS: The site is legal, doesnt contain any links to roms, its just a list of known games dumped and save types.

first of all, if the game shows error at the logo screens, then go to options and change, restart... is not that hard and will not take a lot of time do this 4 or 5 times in a row.
if the game takes long to get a in game save, do your research before starting it and then start the game with the correct save type.
at last, use the basic profile manager to help if you're lazy like me.

RF is very picky when it comes to loading saved games. Sometimes you'll get to the new game/continue screen, and other times it won't load at all. You'll have to restart the emulator and try again until you can get to new/continue, then hope again that the program will even load the save game and not get stuck on "loading..."
It'll load if you keep trying. Sometimes I can do it the first time launching the emu, other times it takes me 10 minutes or so of restarting before it'll actually load.
NDS Cartridge Backup Media which I used is EEPROM 64Kbytes.

Not 100% sure what's needed.
You just have to dump them off your DS, any other way is illegal and shall not be supported on this forum.
Make sure you have the correct save-type otherwise you can't save even once you have dumped everything.

Mhhh, I think that this is the right thread, at least I hope so.... anyway if I've setted the save type to an uncorrect (greater than necessary) value, and then I change it to the correct one what will happen? I'm asking so because before knowing this entire save type problem with ds games I've simply setted it to Flash 512 KB (when the game that I'm playing require only flash 256 KB; BTW the emulator I'm using).
I've tried to correct the value and it seems I've not lost the data, but the size of the battery file is the same (both compressed and uncompressed type).
BTW I'm using no$gba (I've also noted opening the files in a hex editor that they have some "extra information", does anyone know why? It makes them incompatible with other emulators, I think).

I saw on the site that someone linked that i have to use EEPROM 64kbit (so EEPROM 8kbyte, right?).
But i still have problems when I try to continue a mission from the point I left (I can choose to start any new mission I unlock but i have to finish them without quitting..).

As for you, you do indeed have to correct savetype. Did you do a propper ingame save whilst midgame? It should give you an option of continuing from where you were in the case or restarting the entire chapter...at least it does with me.

No. Every version concerning languages have the same type when talking about one game.

No$GBA won't Load Harvest Moon DS, no matter what Backup Media you choose. Besides "None", you can play the game, Save, reset, and see how it won't load. This is the only game that didn't allow that.
Same with Mario and Luigi, but that's been answered in another topic.

It's Sigmax not Stigmax first of all.
It's not that I don't want to help, it's that I don't want to spoonfeed as that is only done for babies and disabled, sick or old people.
It does not help at all for others, it's much better to teach them how to do it themselves.
There's these little things called effort and Common Sense which I want you to use a bit of.
In other words reading through threads before asking things and searching the forum.
The only reason sigmax added that on is because there were all sorts of people which felt the need to be spoonfed which were posting all over the place so at the start she at least wanted them to ask in a more organised manner, but by now there is more than enough material in this thread that, that no longer needs to happen as everyone should be able to find their own savetypes by the time they have read through this thread (not even entirely...how to find the savetypes by yourself is mentioned more than once).

But it's not about YOU. YOU didn't ask the question. I did. And if it is a stupid question for noobs, babies, or whatever, let it be. You still didn't have to respond so rudely. I'll just keep on looking until I find an answer worth taking. Not :"why don't you just search the threads!?"

You are here to get your problem solved permanently, not temporarily, so it's much better to educate you than just to spoonfeed you which would lead to only a temporarly solution (in other words only for this game). Besides it's just forum etiquette to read (or at the very least scan) a thread first before asking your question.

Sorry the break it to you, but most of my games use the FRAM one and it is working fine. Ace Attorney 4 uses the FRAM one and Dungeon Explorer also uses the FRAM one. Actually, most JP games uses the FRAM one and there are about 2000 nds roms, so if you do not know any games that use the FRAM one, dont say no game uses the FRAM one. But then again, if you are limited in roms or knowledge or experience, you may have a deduction like this.
Actually, I've read most of your threads and cant help to think you lack the understanding of most NDS save types. The place or site you get the rom or how you get the rom also affects the chances of a corruption. So please, say(or post) things in a more suggestive tone and not harsh or pro like, because the NO$GBA is not yet complete and most of us are noobs and except for the develepers, non of us are true pros.

Save states doesn't work for DS roms, only for GBA roms
I'm trying to write an application to add Save States (http://forums.ngemu.com/no-gba-discussion/99950-no-gba-save-states.html) ability to NO$GBA also for DS games, but I have some problems...

I have no clue what's wrong with your game....you might need to make a clean dump.
I have tried both games and they both save just fine for me (I even had one saving in a folder without my firmware and bios files and all that)...granted I never played very far...like only enough to get out of the first dungeon....but everything is fine...just remember to make constant backups of your savefiles.

Correction, no one said you are a NOOB until you said that. Also, SCHUMI-4-EVA already pointed out that you are posting in the wrong thread. This is to help people with any saving problem, and your problem does not have anything to do with the save as far as I can tell.

If you have no DS then you have no business even using this emulator.
The only way to obtain them legally (and therefore the only way to obtain them according to forum rules) is to dump them yourself from your DS.

Did you not see me say it's ILLEGAL ???
If you download ANYTHING (unless it's homebrew) then you will not receive any support on this forum. Get lost, or obey the rules.
Emulation =/= Piracy

This has been discussed before. read the rules, do not discuss piracy or complain about emulators and games or you will get banned.

No they are not, they are something that authors want to make as a hobby.

We don't care if you have no money or what so ever, please bring your illegal business elsewhere. Emuforums simply does not condone piracy, if you can't respect our forum rules, you do not deserve to use these forums.
On side note, I have received reports of you flaming one of our members via Private Message, so aside of getting your first infraction for breaking the rules, you also earned yourself a warning for flaming/harassment. One more strike from you and you will be gone, thanks and have a nice day.
