This is the official Compatibility List for all No$GBA Version 2.4 builds

Updated 8/22/2007 at 9:18PM (GMT -5)
Changes:
Added the new 2.4d tag as well as updated Spectrobes with new info.

-=NOTICES=-
This list still applies for all V2.4 related version of the No$GBA Emulator. Since no game compatibility improvements have been made to the emulator in V2.4b , V2.4c, and almost no game compatibility improvement in the new V2.4d, all tags will apply for these versions as well unless specifically noted with the appropriate color-coded tabs.

Big thanks to user Mad (http://forums.ngemu.com/member.php?u=193) for posting that site in the Save-Type help topic that has the save types for all the games . Now I'll be able to revise the list with the save types for the games in which have (No SV Info) listed next to them. At this point, games that still have (No SV Info) are games in which neither NGemu.com nor advanscene.com has the save type for that game available.

If EEPROM 0.5Kbytes doesn't work for a game, try EEPROM 64Kbytes instead. Also, let me know if I have incorrect save types listed for games since I got some of them from that other website based on the cartridge sizes.

-------------------------------------------------------------
I decided that I should help make a constantly updated, easy-access list of every game so far that's been tested and list whether or not they work, the save type selection needed for them, and any issues the game might have.

I pulled info from my own compatibility list as well as topics from around this forum. If a game is playable, I will just list the save type needed to play it along with any other issues the game has using the key below. Games that didn't have a regional tab at the end of them were usually labeled with a (U) UNLESS either a provided screenshot was in another language besides English (E) or if no (U) version existed. Please keep any screenshots in the screenshot thread to avoid clutter.

I will do my best to update the topic when new info is posted as I do check back here on NGemu periodically. Also, when a new version comes out, I’ll update this topic with new compatibility info as it’s released.

The guide took a few days on and off to complete when I had some freetime but I hope it helps everyone, especially newbies, find the information they need for the games that they own.
__________________________________________________ __________
This is the key guide to tell what means what:

[2.4a] = All tags for this game will apply for V2.4a version of the emulator
[2.4b] = All tags for this game will apply for the 2.4b version of the emulator
[2.4c] = All tags for this game will apply for 2.4c version of the emulator
[2.4d] = All tags for this game will apply for the new 2.4d version of the emulator

(N/A) = Not working or booting up in No$GBA.

(Unplayable) = Boots in No$GBA but not enough to play properly. Does not reach in-game.

(In-Game) = Boots up, gameplay begins, but either crashes eventually or something else makes it to be not fully playable.

(High Req) = Uses a lot of the 3D engine, demanding more out of some processors to achieve 100% frame rate. (Doesn't apply for users with high-end PC's.)

(3D Bug) = Transparency errors only with the 3D engine but playable (unless otherwise noted)

(Sound) = Possible minor to major issues in sound emulation

(Speed%) = Playable at 100%frame rate but gameplay speed is not perfectly emulated unless otherwise noted for other reasons. (If Speed & High Req are together, it means that the tester might not have been able to achieve a perfect frame rate due to their computer’s capabilities.)
(FSpeed%) = Only used for serious speed issues (0-50% frame rate)
(+Speed) = (Only used for versions following V2.4a) This tag will only be used to denote speed improvements in the new versions.
(-Speed) = (Only used for versions following V2.4a) This tag will only be used to denote a decrease in speed in newer versions

(Gfx Bug) = Graphical Bugs noted(Non-related to transparency errors. Missing textures, black glitches, and other issues.)

(No SV Info) = No Save-Type info available

(Playable-No SV Info) = This only pertains to games that have been listed in other topics as working but did not have the save-type information listed. A question mark means that the tester wasn’t 100% sure on its full playability.

(Untested) = Games that I have but have not tried.

(Mic) = Microphone issues

(-=Currently in Testing=-) = This means that I am currently playing the game right now during the time that Tag is next to that particular game to figure out its current compatibility.

// = Either/or (Used if more than 1 save type is listed for a game.)

(This topic is updated frequently with new compatibility info for all V2.4 builds of the No$GBA Emulator. Do not ask when new versions will be released. It'll happen when it happens. However, when the next version of the emulator is released, I will make a downloadable text version of this list available for those that still need it and I will remove all tags from the games listed here so that the list gets a fresh start. Either that, or I'll just make a new topic. ^^;)

Mario and Luigi: Partners in time (U) has transparency issues same as DBZ Supersonic Warriors 2.

Also you can't just keep on pushing the emulator with better and better PC's. I am sure me and Hiei-YYH run at similar speeds, eventhough his PC is way better than mine. In other words just saying high requirements is not correct.

Deep Labyrinth (U) is what I used for those screens so it most definately is playable unless there is another bug later ingame.

Considering that the emulator does not make use of Dual-Cores and graphics cards don't play too much or a role yet, I have close to the highest specs one could have as far as single-cores go. I have an AMD Athlon64 3700+ (2.2Ghz but comparable to a 3.7 Ghz Pentium 4) there are only 3 stronger single-cores I know of. The rest of my PC aint too bad either, although it is getting old.

Thanks Shumi.
I'm actually going to retest a number of the ones that I had listed as (High End) but in reality, I only mean for that particular label to apply for those with lower end computers like mine though I did take in to account those that stated that their computer wasn't fast enough to get the full 100% speed for particular games as well. (I normally was only able to achieve a framerate in Metroid Prime Hunters & DBZ: Supersonic Warriors 2 of about 25-30%. However I just did what one topic stated and adjusted my system performance to (best) and now Final Fantasy III runs smoothly for me which it didn't before.
So expect that particular element of this list to be changed up a bit later.

Btw: this is my computer specs:

Nvidia nForce 3-A Motherboard
AMD Sempron 3100+ 1.81Ghz
512Mb of Ram
Nvidia Geforce 6200LE

Etrian Odessy runs horribly for me. Very, very slow and unpleasant. Between 20 and 60%.

You also missed that I had said Asterix and Obelix XXL2 - Mission Wiffix was unplayable due to a weird error that happens once your try and play (after the introduction is done and actual play is supposed to start)

I had also said Lost Magic was completely unplayable and crashes.
This happened with me regardless of whether it was encrypted or not.

Lost in Blue 1 and 2 also don't run at perfect speeds, but as you said are playable (I think, apparently the microphone is involved)

Lunar Dragon Song also needs a microphone but I have not tested if it's playable now that microphone support exists.

Every game I have is US by the way, unless only a European or Japanese version exists.

Keep in mind that only teeny-tiny percentage of this list came from my own discoveries. At least 90% of it comes from all over the forum pertaining to V2.4a and the list is by NO MEANS final.
I'll continue to update it with any new info or changes until the new version comes out.

Yeah, I was teetering on whether or not I should have even bothered with explaining how I did the (U)(E) stuff but I didn't think I needed to.
Unless it was listed by the person that reported it in whatever topic I found the info in, I labeled it with the (U) version unless either the screenshots showed another language besides english or if no such version of that game existed. I guess I need to add that in....

Oh, and as for the test that I was doing, so far a number of the games that I have play a lot faster than they did in the past. I might have to put Metriod Prime Hunters as unplayable soon unless it can get past this black screen that has a loud sound going off on it. I'll wait a few more minutes and then I'm gonna change it. :s

*a few minutes later*
Metroid Prime Hunters (U) is definetely (Unplayable) x_x;

I know your list is not final...I am in no way criticizing you. I am just pointing some things out you may have missed or may want to change.
Especially those high requirement ones bother me, you may want to change a few of those to just plain slow, like on Etrian Odessy.

Star Fox Command may be playable...what sort of error was listed with it for being unplayable? I must have missed that somehow. I have it, but it runs slowly or too fast when changing to a different setting, and I can't control it well because of that, so I keep on flying too high and go into a zone where like everything around my ship is black...and it's possibly an error...or maybe it's just supposed to be like that, but I can somehow get out of it again...then due to my bad control I end up right back there again.
I never did anything else aside from that first training mission where you have to fly through the hoops.

I also don't remember seeing any report on InuYasha that said it crashed? (unless you mean mine from NeonDS) Going to test that now.
Edit:
nevermind it freezes...strange since it get's past that on iDeaS and DeSmuME as far as I remember.

XD I might just have to make a new tag for ones that are slow even for stronger computers then.

In Star Fox Command, I remember the first time when I tried to play the game, I started a new game, and right when the actual in-game area had came up for maybe 3-4 seconds, the emulator crashed. Nothing showed up on the top-screen.
I'll try it again now and see if it does the same thing for me still.

As for the Inuyasha game, there is no report on this site about it to my knowledge.
That was my own personal test and that was the result that I achieved from it.

By the way .... for those games that don't boot up if they are you own experiences then test each save type first. They don't boot because they are on the wrong savetype.

Lost Magic is Eeprom 64 followed by crash.
Aserix and Obelix is Eeprom 0.5.

Starfox Command Report:
After initializing Training exercise 1 and beginning to manuever the Arwing, I only make it through 1 ring before the top screen goes black and all I see is the ship's crosshair and the red arrow.
I'm gonna double check the games that I had listed as N/A, but only the ones that I have. (Animal Crossing, Megaman ZX, and Super Monkeyball)

Test so far:
Animal Crossing - Wild World (U) Test: -=Testing Complete=- (In-Game)(Gfx Bugs) "Cannot view the outside area of the town in the bottom screen. Only a blue screen and the menu button is shown.

Yeah that weird black area whatever it is makes Starfox unplayable, I also tested it. It's possible to get out of there again, but yeah....

You still need to add unplayable tags to Asterix and Lost Magic by the way.

Megaman ZX crashed for me same as Lost Magic.

Done and done.
Curious, did Megaman & LostMagic manage to even boot up, or did they boot up and then crash?

SCHUMI_4EVER

boot and crash (during publisher viewing...I assume just before the actual game menu would appear prompting you to press start) so Megaman also needs to be changed to unplayable...or actually they both need to be unsupported nevermind unplayable.

I think Lunar Dragon Song is playable now but with Gfx glitches and bad sound.
Also the mic does not work 100% at least for me, so I was not able to escape battle but the old always escape battle bug is gone.

Labyrinth also does not play at perfect speed.

Castlevania - Portrait of ruin, does boot but then get's to a presumablly frozen screen...or possibly the buttons etc. that are supposed to be there just are not...so it's unplayable

Wario - Master of Disguise does boot up...but takes forever to do so...and every next screen takes forever to load...so it's basically unplayable.
I think savetype is Eeprom 8...but I could be wrong.

Viewtiful Joe does not run at full speed (and looks like crap....but that may just be the way the game is drawn anyways)

You still need to add speed and 3D bug tags to DBZ-SSW2

Yup.
Actually it's rather funny. I haven't gotten to the gameplay in it yet but so far, the storyline portion looks better than the gameplay graphics in the screenshots on IGN's website.

HAha, omg I had a feeling the entire time I was creating this list that as SOON as I finished this and put it out there, a new version would be released.

Not a problem though. I'll be setup for the 2.4b list soon. ;)

contact has serious lag in most areas but is otherwise playable (at least half way through). (lag as in it goes at 100% speed but still goes at a very slow speed in large areas)

I still need to see that apparent speed increase on Pokemon Diamond.

Rus exactly the same for me. Same identical slowdown to 66% in certain areas.

Yeah, I haven't tested it myself and it seems that others have seen the same performance as well. (Either that or they were just ripping off heads. :s )

-=Updated 6/12/2007=- with more games

(Note: If anyone has the Save Type information for any of the games listed as (Playable-No SV Info) please report that info so that it can be added to the list. Thank you.)

Thanks. The list should be a lot more useful now that I've put in a lot of save type info for some the games that didn't have it listed anywhere else on the site.

Xiaolin Showdown is listed as (In-Game) at the time, meaning that it's not fully playable.

This thread does cover V2.4c as well as 2.4b & 2.4a (as stated in the beginning of the topic) but there's been very little compatibility info for 2.4c discussed as far as I can tell outside of issues with a few games that aren't loading their save game files properly without crashing the emulator in the process.

Since I can't rename the main topic title, otherwise it would have been changed a long time ago, I won't worry about it until V2.5 comes out whenever that is, in which time I already made a new topic for that on my comp. I'm just waiting for that version to be released, whenever that'll be, and then I'll post that new topic.

Harvest Moon DS (U) _____________________________EEPROM 0.5KBytes(Sound)

The savetype is wrong.

Your right. o.o
The original cartridge uses Flash 2Mbits so then that should be Flash 256K as the save type.
Dunno who posted that (cause I had it in my offline backup copy that hasn't been updated since before I went in and looked up the other save types from that one website,) but I bet they only said that it worked with that save type since it didn't crash after a save was attempted.

In any case, It's fixed now. Thanks

About the Yoshi's Island 1-3 collision glitch.

I've hacked a moonjump code for that specific room in 1-3 so you can get up the ledge.

no joker?

anyway, there are something wrong with this code dsman

since it ends with a 5, it's a 8bit code. so should be 0 when entering in nogba as gameshark, but the value is 32bit?

That's one of my older hacks. I had less experience back then. I should look into cleaning it up a bit...
Ah, it seems that back then I incorrectly modified it when I found better values to write.

This hack was made with HasteDS in mind.
22343594 FFFFC100

...but I suppose I could convert it to no$gba format.
Press B to moonjump (1-3, glitch room only)

D4000130 00000002
22343594 FFFFC100

D4000130 00000002

would be

D4000130 000003FD

because there's no AND for GBA conditional code types (except codebreaker
with D code type)

D0000020 0002
82343594 C100
D0000020 0002
82343596 FFFF

note, i don't know if nogba accept the D code type. damn, nogba is totally bugged for codes :/ that's why i said that if ARDS get implemented in nogba it will never be perfect, gba ones that are a lot easier to implement still bugged.

just to name a few of those "bugs"

CB slide code
4AAAAAAA XXXX
YYYYXXXX BBBB

XXXX = a 16bit value that in nogba is only a 8bit maximum

Conditional checks (all of them/all code types)
DAAAAAAA XXXXXXXX

7AAAAAAA XXXX

if you post one of these at the top in the cheat list, there is no need to post any other, because nogba will ignore all, only the first one will work.

so this code

D200AABB 00000001
0200AABB 000000FF
D200AACC 00000002
0200AACC 000000FF

would work as

D200AABB 00000001
0200AABB 000000FF
0200AACC 000000FF

... i hate these bugs.

That's why I didn't include an activator in the first place.

It doesn't really need an activator anyway since the game only reads the jump speed once you're jumping.
So, the definitive code:

Moonjump (1-3, glitch room only)

This version of the emu is long-outdated....try run the game with version 2.6, you may not even need a patch anymore...check the stickied FAQ thread if you have problems using 2.6

Please, don't bump old threads.
And second, try NO$GBA 2.6 (2.6a is ethically impossible to get). :thumb:

2.6 and 2.6a are different versions of the emulators one being available the other being ethically unavailable as it's the current donate to get it early version and donations are down and have been so for a long time.
