View Full Version : Need a good font

I've searched the internet for a while, without finding one single font I could use for the development of my web site (not any that I like anyways). What makes it so hard to find a perfect font for the design, is the fact that I'm using Paint Shop Pro, which don't antialias the text enough. Btw, I like the font NGEmu uses for their headers...Anyone know what it's called and where to get it?
Any other suggestions? I've scanned places like www.1001freefonts.com, but to no avail (it's hard to judge how good the font will actually look like in smaller sizes and so on). Any helpful answers would be greatly appreciated.

Mmmm... I love me some fonts! :) Why not check out http://www.fontalicious.com for some groovy fontness or http://www.geocities.com/infodell/fontsfoo2.html for "famous" type fonts. If you're using PaintShop Pro, you should look at http://www.pizzadude.dk . He made his entire site using PSP and it looks great. As far as the NGEMU header goes, (I assume you mean the date above the newspost) its Verdana -> bold. In fact, Verdana is the only font used on the main page.

There's an ancient Chinese saying that goes, "The fonts make the man."
... or maybe there isn't. But in any case, try http://www.themeworld.com/fonts/index.shtml

No, probably not. I was refering to all the headers at the main NGEmu pages: "Member Only" and "Latest Downloads", to mention two. If that's what you were refering to, I can't see it happening in PSP with the Verdana font...
Thanks for the links, but that's not really what I was looking for (I've already been to all those sites, and it got boring after testing about 100 fonts...). No, what I need is maybe your own personal experience with creating nice headers (Thorgal would know how he made NGEmu's unless he was drunk while doing it).
Keep in mind that the font should look good in the sizes 8-10 pts (or as big as Verdana/Tahoma/Arial are at the previosly mentioned sizes).

Uhm, no, I definitely wasn't drunk when I designed NGEmu (or does it look that bad? ;)). The header font is called "Liberal", I got it from a friend 2 years back, used it for the good ol' PSXEmu logo (you might remember it), and decided to use it again but this time for NGEmu's headers. If you want, I could mail it to ya, as long as you don't copy NGEmu too much, hehe ;)
I got most of my fonts from sites such as DeviantArt and Famous Fonts, both have some excellent fonts which could be used for both art and webdesign. I also got several from CubaDust, but unfortunately they don't seem to offer them anymore. Most of these fonts are also very suitable at small sizes, so take it a shot.. I prefer those kinds of sites, since I just detest all those "1000+ FONTS FOR FREE!!!" sites of which 990 are just rubbish, or not what you're looking for.
