View Full Version : My pad won't rumble...

Before you say anything, I've tried all the general troubleshooting techniques, and I've read most of the help files, readmefiles, and other things.
I can't get my pad to rumble no matter how hard I try. The game I am using it with has rumble support, but it still won't rumble. I've tried changing the settings for the rumble, but they don't seem to have any affect. The Rumble works on the Project 64 emulator with NRage's plug-in.
Does anyone have a solution for me? I also have one more question: how do you configure ePSXe to use other input plugins (such as NRage's Plug in)?
The kind of pad I am using is GGE909 Recoil Pad from Game Elements
Thank you in advance.:heh:

I think you're misunderstanding something, n64 plugins won't work with playstation emulators.
I'm not quite sure if you posted this question in the right Forum though because pSX Emulator is a standalone emulator which uses no plugins at all. It's usually also very compatible when it comes to Pad Support and stuff like that afaik.
If you're using Epsxe the only way to use a different input plugin is with Epsxecutor. My personal advice though is to try out ssspsx with the ssspsx gamepad plugin, it has good support for rumble and is overall a very solid emulator.

No, no, no. I think you misunderstood ME.
What I said was that my rumble works with the Project 64 emulator.
I know n64 plugin's don't work with ePSXe: I was trying to say that my rumble pad DOES work, just not with ePSXe.
I'll go ahead and try out ssspsx

Well given the meaning of this sentence:
"Does anyone have a solution for me? I also have one more question: how do you configure ePSXe to use other input plugins (such as NRage's Plug in)?"
I though that you were trying to use NRage's Pad Plugin in Epsxe, because NRage's Pad Plugin is for N64 Emulation after all.
Would be nice to know if that solved your problem.

NRage also made a pad plug-in for PSX emulators.
NGEmu - ePSXe plugins (http://www.ngemu.com/psx/epsxe.php?action=plugins)
Have a look on that page.
It didn't really solve my problem. I downloaded it and tried tweaking it constantly because it kept crashing before I could even load the game properly. The farthest I got was when it would show the BIOS then it would quit just before it tried loading the game.

you don't want to use tat plugin its buggy.
plus It doesn't support vibrations yet.
use SssPSx pad 1.6 (http://www.ssspsx.com/SSSPSXPAD16.ZIP)
and use it with sssPSX emulator to get vibrations.

>_< ePSXe won't let me use other plug-ins. Like I said, I've tired mutliple emulators, I've tweaked their settings (multiple times) so that I can avoid crashes with them, but I have failed at all of them.
The only other emulator I could get that would not crash would be pSX 1.11.
It's rumble does not work either. oO I am thinking maybe the emus don't like may pad, lmao.

on psx 1.11, are you sure you configured the controller properly,
set it so that you to analogue mode and tick the box which say vibrations.
or try what I said before:
SSSPSX pad 1.6 (http://www.ssspsx.com/SSSPSXPAD16.ZIP)
and use that plugin with SSSPSX emulator 0.034 (http://www.ssspsx.com/SSSPSX-0.0.34e.ZIP)

So I should put the controller type to analog? I thought I would need to put it on Dual Shock...
Ok, I'll try what you say and get back to you. :D Thanks for your responses.

I know this is like ages ago when I posted this, but I also tried what you told me to do.
I remember it didn't work. Now it doesn't really bother me since I don't have a pad that supports rumble anymore. :P Thanks for your help.

Yes, Dualshock is the correct setting for analog and rumble control in pSX emulator, Forte Lambardi. Have you tried later versions of the emulator; particularly v1.13?
You don't really give us very information to go on, apart from what your pad is. Most important are what OS you're using (I presume a version of Windows, since you can get Project64 to run) or what games you're trying to play.
I would presume, as well, that you must have a manufacturer's driver installed if you have rumble in some applications. Unfortunately, many manufacturers' drivers are problematical and this sort of problem, rumble working in some applications, not working in others and crashing some, is typical of a dodgy driver. See if you can find some alternatives.
I'm also puzzled as to why you posted here. This is the pSX Emulator section; your enquiry seems be be primarily about ePSXe - which makes this the wrong section.
One pad I'd really recommend for reliable and accurate rumble is the Logitech Rumblepad 2.

Another good option is to buy a PS1 to USB adapter. You can get a good one for $20 or less, and with the right drivers (many times the ones that come with it, and *do* try to avoid the defaults that Windows wants to use if you have drivers from the device manufacturer), rumble will work in everything. My Super Dual Box, which is discontinued and over 3 years old, works well with rumble in everything I've tried... when I use the official drivers, that is. It makes my old PSOne DualShock controller useful too, since I primarily use my PS2s for playing games (and obviously I use my PS2 controllers for those).
