View Full Version : A small problem with VMU

Hi
I recently encountered a small problem with VMUs. When I play Spawn: In Demons Hand the game can't initialize mem. cards like there were none in VMU slots, so there is no way for me to save the game. I was wondering if there was a way to fix that, or maybe I'm doing something wrong ? :D. I don't know if the problem occures in other games because Spawn is the only game I have :D Thanks in advance

Well, VMUs aren't emulated yet, only simple memory cards are. Which does mean occasionally you might have some problems like this.

So how can I emulate a normal memory card which is not a VMU ? :D

I can choose only nullDC VMU for save plugins, so I guess there's a plugin that emulates a normal memory card, is it ?

That's the only plugin available, and it should work

i have the same problem with Spawn....hopefully the issues will be addressed with the next version of the emu :D

I noticed a problem with Mortal Kombat Gold... It wouldn't save right.

There is a typo/misinformation regarding VMUs. nullDC actually emulates simple memory cards on the released BETA, not VMUs. Unfortunately some games do not support simple memory cards and they either crash or fail to save. This also happens on a real Dreamcast and is not a fault of the emulator..

This is probably why spawn and those other games don't work...

Well... I downloaded NullDC's 1.6 version AND the latest one only to get Spawn's DreamCast version... to find out that the save file does NOT work. I have looked over this several times, attempting to solve the problem. I even made a NGmenu account to make this post! Anyways, if there is a solution, please address it~!

Yeah, it's a known issue. There is no fix for it at the moment.

Doesn't 1.03 emulate the VMU? Or is it just the screen?

Just the Screen. I already tried my Spawn and the Emulator did not read the VMU. (Notice that I already tried the so called famous way to turn on VMU)

1.03 emulates connected (to the controller) VMUs. Spawn not working was caused by something else. :p
