nullDC is a great emulator, it runs better than chankast without needing any patching. I've been playing around with SoA and here's what I found. Using nullDC default plugins, it looks like all the sprites that have transperancy effects aren't implemented yet, oh well. That's the only big graphical problem. Text for s-moves doesn't show up, and weird screen shows up when entering battles. Sound seems weird, but listenable.

Also, it has the weird menu crashing bug. If you go into SoA, and repeatedly open/close the menu(about 30 times as another poster found) it gives you a black screen. What's more, it corrupts dc_flash_wb.bin, and makes the emulator hang at some bios operation during the game boot (with an echleon image, its right after their intro, and before the game starts). You can fix it by just replacing the dc_flash_wb.bin with an old one, but still its a weird problem.

Aside from that, everything that I had a chance to check out seems to be working. So, dunno, maybe i'll try playing through the game with nullDC. In any case, the team has done a great job, even more so considering this is just a beta.

Also, anyone else find any bugs with SoA?

Yeah I have found all of the bugs that you have as well. I have my own NTSC 1gb dumped images, as well as the echelon release and they are basically the exact same game. They play the same and there's no changes besides VGA support on the NTSC version.

I also have seen this weird graphical glitch, happens a decent amount in various areas:

You can see the little image pop up, this usually happens during cut scenes and stuff. If you use the chankast graphics plug in, it fixes the transparency issues with spells and specials.

yeah, it seems like the emulator is using that image instead of something else as the image for special effects. I've also seen some nasty static screens for split seconds around the same time that those appear.

I just did the black screen menu thing again, it hit right on 30, though I probably used the menu once or twice before that. Maybe the value is 32? Its very weird.

I saw that chankast fixed a lot of the effects, but it also messed up the character boxes in the menu, did you have that same problem or is it just me?

chankast audio causes the game to run really fast, like the fps was unlimited, which causes the v/a synch to be lost easily.

Starting from a save in the pirate base, 31 menu clicks.
Seems like dc_flash_wb didn't get corrupted after this one.

Yeah chankast's gpu plugin seems to work better in the menus

I've also noticed that having the dynarec enabled seems to cause the "/" character in the HP display to be shown as a "0". If you disable dynarec, it displays this normally. I just thought I'd mention this as the discription for the dynarec option says "no known bugs".

I cant seem to boot up CD2, tried 2 different versions, one only goes to bios, and the second hangs after the dreamcast swirl.
