First game I tried is Sonic Adventure (PAL). Seems to be playable.
When you need to select the memory card, you can't see anything. It also happens in the Options and when you select a character. On these screens, after 20 seconds, the music dies.
You cant' see the text when the characters are talking and sometimes the music dies for 2 or 3 seconds. No graphic problems ingame. Excellent speed, totally playable.
Default configuration, only added Show FPS ;)
Screens are too high for the attachment, so I had to upload them on the damn ImageShack

chankast pvr fps counter is wrong , it allways thinks the dc runs out of 60 fps. the value inside [] is the correct one =P

Doa2le has problem with fps , it is slower than normal while running fullspeed.
Try to remove speed limit from aica plugin (audio sync)

For resolutions edit the .cfg file manualy -- i'l release a fix for that sometime in the week -- just didn't had the time to add the gui/menu code needed :)

Please enable the ntsc/vga selector that chankast has. The characters in nulldc seem to be taller.

Gamepad support would be greatly appreciated.

Would be nice to be able to alternate between fullscreen and window without exiting the emulator.

Other than that, this is a great start and thanks for the release.

Can you make that more clear? I don't really get what you mean. Give examples. :)

Well I don't know why fraps fps isn't displaying. But notice on the fps section of the screenshot it reports 100+fps. In fraps it's actually only 60fps.

Hmm... yes. FRAPS is right, but nullDC is right too. The frame counter on the Chankast's video plugin is kinda broken. The correct FPS value is the one at the end of the stats inside the "[]", not the one at the start of the stats.

After 2 minutes of holding enter to move on, I stopped the game.
Maybe dexterq can tell us how he was able to start it.
But I think the answer for this issue is "a release in the future" :P

like Chris-007 shows Crazy Taxi works Perfekt just after 4 mins Music ends ingame and game craches.

About Crazy Taxi 2:

I have the US Version of the game. And 1.0.0 P Beta of NullDC. (released a few hours ago ;) )
I would try to debug it, but I have no experiences in it. :/
And it has no intros. Just the loading screen and then it crashes with this error in the console.
Dude, you don't even know what you download, do you? There's no US releases with 50/60hz options. NTSC is 60hz only. I'd check the nfo files more often ;)

Anyway guys, great sceenshots :thumb:

So far, I'm impressed...

now let me add another game to that list:

Sonic Shuffle

Computer specs:
AMD Sempron 2600+ (soon to be replaced)
1024 MB DDR Ram
GeForce 6600 GT
Windows XP

nullDC configuration:
Several tested:
-CP pass disabled
-Dynarec disabled
-Chankast graphics plug-in

Status with original (Echelon) ISO: Only until main menu
That's actually better than all other DC emulators so far, those even crashed before the main menu. In nullDC no matter what options are selected in the main menu once you leave it the screen goes black, the music accelerates to normal speed and over! Additionally the menu initialization shows a minor graphics glitch! Intro works! I have added a (probably useless) screenshot of the console output after it crashes

Add: Status with hex-edited ISO: Works
Open the ISO in a hex-editor: search for the following hex string:
20 90 0E A0 09 00 01 7E
Change the first instance of the finding to:
20 90 09 00 09 00 01 7E
as you see, only 2 bytes are changed.. but those 2 bytes make the ISO compatible (seems like nearly 100%) - there will be errors in the console but ignore them, it will work!
note: this edit was done on the MDF file.. if you have CDI version I am not sure whether this works but I guess so!
note 2: this edit makes the rom incompatible to Chankast (will show an error and abort) - demul will run it but still won't reach the menu

Status In debugger: Works
Stop the game when it seems to have crashed.. step through every instruction until you reach a "bra" command.. skip that command!
The command is the following: 8C029802 bra 0x8C029822 ; I guess it would be safe to overwrite that command with a "nop" command, just I haven't seen a function for doing so!
This command and an additional "rts" command puts the game in an endless loop

Bugs: major graphical issues in split-screen minigames!

By having no installer I meant the zip with the standalone files (http://emudev.com/funstuff/nullDC_100b1.rar) instead of the msi setup, I apologize for not noticing it - appearantly the ****s who posted about this on my own site favored the installer ver.

Still, no joystick support hurts a lot, joy2key sucks because its still keyboard based (eg. pressing multiple keys will lock it up).

NB - Maken X is one quirky FPS that plays rather well. nullDC has transparency and clipping issues, and the FPS dips below 40 when multiple opponents are on-screen simultaneously. During the intro the audio became garbled and the voices muted. Considering how Chankast ran this game I'm quite impressed, but there remain tons of bug fixing to be done. Well done!

The Dreamcast has a 'cleaner' resolution compared the PS2, especially noticeable when using the VGA cable. That's at least the major technical advantage AFAIK.

That issue was addressed here (http://forums.ngemu.com/nulldc-forum/87626-sound-stutter.html). We'll have to wait for a future build of the plugin or use Chankast's.

Same compatability as the Echelon version, but I finally made a full 1GB NTSC image of the game to test and it has the same graphical glitches. In the screenshots you can see where you can't read menu items. Also I went into the menu and back into the game and ended up getting a black screen while the music still played. Only differences I guess between PAL/NTSC for this game is VGA mode.

Checked with the original. You were right and there were speed issues with this one. The original has 30 fps and nullDC emulates the game at 60fps. The background video plays fine however the characters and gameplay is FAST. Thanks for pointing it out, it was the first time I tried the game and well I thought there was something fishy. This still is another weird rhythm game for the Dreamcast, not that that's a bad thing mind you.

Works perfectly however there is a minor graphics issue. The emulator shows the borders of the game witch shouldn't be visible to the player, this in turn makes the game screen much smaller and some extra graphics is shown. Not really annoying or impaling. This seems to be the same bug as Dance Dance Revolution, just that here the actual game screen is much bigger and makes playing the game more fun. It's probably a feature of the Dreamcast that hasn't been emulated yet.

The game is very slow in the menus, takes up a quarter of the screen and has minor slowdowns in-game. It gives a lot of errors in the console on Unhandled p4 Write [Reserved] 0xecd383ac Error in .\dv\mem\sh4_internal_reg.cpp:WriteMem_P4:376 -> Write to P4 not implemented. You can't see the menus correctly. Sound is screechy, although far better that Demul's. But play it at 1280x1024 and you'll see why Dreamcast's textures were so, so, so much better than PS2's. Incredible work, nullDC rocks!

See? It is the NTSC-U version released by Kalisto and I made it a self-boot.

EDIT:

This wasn't an emulator issue. It's probably a bug in bin2boot, the bin/cue + boot disk work fine on an original Dreamcast while the self-booting .cdi file bin2boot made has the same issues on a real dreamcast.

Basically the game runs quite perfectly, but the one hitch is that the emulator will crash for some reason if I hit someone. Well visually perfect then. I thought it might be a video plugin problem so I tried both nullDC's and Chankast's and the game looks identical with either one. Well I went through the game a few times to figure what exactly the problem was and if there was anyway to get around. Basically I had to turn off dynarec which switches it to interpretor mode, I guess. That way I was able to attack and hit people in the game without the emulator crashing. When I turn dynarec back on and hit someone the emu will crash. Sometimes it's hit and miss whereas I can hit someone a couple of times and then eventually it'll crash with dynarec enabled. Also of note is that in the beginning of the game a character named William gets slashed at by a guard. When he gets hit the game will either continue or the emulator will crash. Well basically almost every single time I hit the attack button this will pop up in that little dos prompt:

Read32 from 0x918E49F0, not mapped [_vmem default handler]
Read32 from 0x918E49F0, not mapped [_vmem default handler]
Error in .\dc\mem\sh4_internal_reg.cpp:ReadMem_area7:572 -> Unkown Read from Ar
ea7 , addr=1eadc0d3
Error in .\dc\mem\sh4_internal_reg.cpp:ReadMem_area7:572 -> Unkown Read from Ar
ea7 , addr=1eadc0db

When I turn dynarec off and I hit the attack button that part doesn't pop up. Well, sorry this post was a little long but I think that's about it. Also note that in the pics below where it has 7fps that was when I had dynarec off.
