Hi, im running an xp sp2 650mhz computer, 256mb ram and 32mb intel810 onboard graphics card (this is my brothers comp, my comp has irql_not_less_or_equal upto the point i had to get rid of xp and put 98se on)

When running the newer versions of iDeaS, explorer decides to use as much cpu as possible, slowing down iDeaS, this didnt happen in the previous versions I used (1.0.0.6 and lower) (heh, ive been using desume recently, and now using no$gba)

Anyone know why this is happening/how to avoid it?

Im not trying to put you down, because I know what it's like to have an old computer, but your computer can barely run XP nicely, nevermind running anything else.
As for why it's most probably happening, the more you want a program to do the more processing power it will need, so obviously if lino has made additions these additions now require more resources from your computer.

Because newer versions of iDeaS use more CPU power than previous ones. When you see the CPU Usage percentage suddenly leaping up, it's mostly because of the program running, not because of the explorer... since explorer cannot possibly use any more system resource than it originally does when you boot up your computer... unless you run a heavy task that is very explorer-dependent. In other words, the CPU Usage reported by Task Manager is for all processes, not just explorer. :) You're better off upgrading to a better PC even... since that PC will barely be able to emulate GBA games at full speed, talk about NDS games.

actually this comp plays all gba/psx roms full speed and n64 decent speed, hey if I had the money, i'd get a decent computer, or better still, buy an actual nintendo ds :D

Yeah but at this stage NDS emulators are just more demanding than those eumlators.

Try killing explorer.exe from the Task Manager...
Menu bars and folder windows will close. To reopen them again, choose New Task and type C:
That used to work for me when I had my 600mhz P3

when was the last time somebody ran a Spyware/adware/virus scan on that pc? explorer using as much cpu usage as it can is usually a tell tale sign that something is trying to do something unwanted.
