I have played all kinds of RPG's and I like them all.. I don't like being single minded.. Turn based, Real time based, action rpg, strategy rpg, I have fun with them all.. Can't really say which is my favorite.. I would have voted for "all of the above" but you don't got that option..

Hi, new person here, well anyways I would just like to say that I love Final Fantasy. I can't really stand things like Zelda because I get dizzy from the camera angles after 5 minutes which totally sucks major @ss. However I also like playing RPG such as Bouncer and Chrono Cross and Breath of Fire. Even though Bouncer shouldn't really be considered a RPG due to the fact that its only 8 hour of game play. Golden Sun is new to me and yet I also love the game because it so addictive. Pokemon is also on that levle however its more focused on little children. Over all I play RPG games that are artistically pleasing to me, such as Final Fantasy 8 and Final Fantasy 10. Oh the beautiful colors and the graphics are just stunning. Final Fantasy 10 especially, the graphics are so good that the characters look life like at times. I generally play rpgs that also have a good OST. Well that pretty much sums up what I look for in a RPG and why I want to play them.

That's a very intresting way to make a joke considering that Sephiroth feels bad already. Talk about insensitive, well regardless it's something that really trivial anyways. We are talking about a game and I don't think people would go out of their way to hunt this person down with this name who we have no idea what their real name is and try to break his limbs off. It's not going to happen any time soon basically. ^-^

I'm not a console fan, but i use to have a snes only for rpg (Chrono trigger, FF 4-6, TOP, Seiken Densetsu) and i now use espxe and own a ps2 only for that kind of games.
I'm in fact more a PC player (QW and Q3) and i don't understand why those type of game never hit the pc shelves... (except the "bad port" of FF7 and 8).
But i think u forgot some kinds of PC rpg :
- MMORPG like ultima online, everquest and asheron call (i played the first for 1 year and the last for 8 months, and they are great)
- utlima series (ultima 7, ultima serpent isle for ex) : great story, lot of freedom and very addictive
- Dungeon Master like rpg : Lands of Lore (the first one was really great), Might and Magic (4 and 5 were great too), Wizardry, etc...
- Pen and Paper adaptation like Baldurs gate 1 & 2, Planet Scape etc... there's some great title in this category too...
And to conclude don't forget Never Winter Night which, maybe, be the first real rpg (ROLE playing game) for computers and games plateform.

Hello everyone.
I like any kind of RPG. But I prefer the menu/selection style (ex. Final Fantasy series, Xenogear, Wild Arms 1 & 2 etc.). I think the others are also good like Alundra 1 & 2. How about the PC RPGs like Septerra Core and Fallout series? In my opinion, I think the eastern RPGs are more enjoyable to play and have higher replay value. I've finished lot of them many times because some of the game make you want to play more (finished Valkyrie Profile three times, great game). Last but not least, anyone into AD&D games? I also find it interesting, already finished all series of Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale. Now looking forward for Neverwinter Night. But too bad for me, I've to gather more money to buy a PS2. Looks like Final Fantasy X would have to wait.

How is this game?? Tactics Ogre is fun. It's basically like Final Fantasy Tactics (for good reason, since the same team made it), just with worse graphics (it DID originally appear on the SNES) and a darker plot.

But, I'm a Zelda Fan since the first one, for my first Video Game (My NES, that i bought in Canada) .....The only reason that makes me think that i can't play Zelda 64 for too long time, is because I've finished the game 2 or 3 times...)

Jonys, I like Diablo very very much. My friend has beaten it and killed Diablo. I also like it on the PSX. I am also a Gauntlet fan and, in ways, Diablo is very very similar to Gauntlet and Gauntlet 2, but w/much more depth and a more intersting story.

Diablo II is just like the first, just with more classes, worse graphics, and a worse plot. As for the PSX version, I like it because, without the possibility of a point and click interface, it's more like a really hard version of Zelda. It makes the rogue especially challenging.

I like RPG/Adventure stile games, like the Zelda Series, but a think they lack some deep in the plot, but definitively, I prefer the kind of RPG a la Final Fantasy, they have something that makes you live the story...

December 13th, 2001, 00:10
First off a la is feminine and Final Fantasy is not. it would start with du but that would sound kinda funny but it would be grammatically correct in french. And as for the think that makes you feel like you are apart of the story..I totally agree. When ever I see the GCI in Final Fantasy it makes me feel sad like when Dagger's mom died..and how they had Vivi talking to himself. That was sad..I'm guessing its the music that sets up the mood. I wouldn't expect less from Square. ^-^

well, I really like all FF series, among movies and games, the sequels of the games, doesn't have much interrelation with each other, so you basically are playing a completely different RPG!! I think thats why the game is so good, so it doesn't have the same repetitive patrons that the traditional sequel model.

Well....We could use an option like "others" instead of "none of above"....
I can see that mario 64 is a lot diferent from the others but still is very similar to Zelda 64, like the gameplay and other stuffs...Besides, u have to face all the bosses in order to get keys to pass to the next levels, and there goes....(I think i've heard of RPG games like this that u have to get keys to pass and face bosses, use different "caps" in order to enter in the sea or in the sky, collect stars...i consider a RPG game...but....well u think the way u want....I guess my point was to show everyone what i meant with that "Adventure RPG" option.......)

AFIK Bahamut, The Black Dragon, is in every FF on the Nintendo, SNES, and PSX. The Slimes appear in all the Dragon Warriors, the red and blue ones are basic easy monsters for you to build experience with. The Blue Slime takes you on a tour of Dragon Warrior VII on Enix's home page. There were even slimes in the game Torneko The Last Hope, which was a Dragon Warrior spin off.
Also the slimes are on GBC in the DWs for that system. Pretty prolific aren't they?
Final Fantasy Adventure for GB is actually the first Secret of Manna. It deals w/the Manna tree and the Gemma Knigts, but it has a Chocobo in it as well.

Considering she was talking about Vagrant Story, FiReY could have easily meant both, although I thought the graphics were fairly good in ePSXe. My biggest beef with it is the combat system, which is even worse than Parasite Eve's. Egad. I'm still trying to figure out how to get past three normal soldiers, all seeming to do considerably more damage than I can. I'm against the discrepancy in damage you see in most RPGs, but this is ridiculous.

With vagrant story, they concentrated on 'improving' everything else they just forgot about gameplay.. :D

The music after u win the battle........that same old boring music that keep playing the game after every boring battle that u have.....

December 30th, 2001, 13:52
Well it's not exactly the same, there's always a difference in the music...just like chocobo music that was the same all the time until it got to ff8...i think

Yes it is a square game. The main character is.... strange. He deosn't really remember his past. Anymore than that would be telling.

It's an action RPG. Not nearly as loose as Diablo, and it is fun.

Much slower and more tactical than Diablo. You can attack enemies in specific areas. Yes there are annoying puzzles. I was stuck on one for about an hour.

I like Adventure/RPG like Zelda. Ocarina of Time is my fav. The gameplay is good and the story is excellent. I can't describe it. If you haven't played it I suggest you get your ass out to the store and buy it and be prepared for a master piece from the gaming world.
My 2nd fav. is the turn based style or Chrono Trigger style. I'm currently playing Legend Of Dragoon. I love it so far. Such an awesome game.

Bah...what's with the VS bashing...there is a reason why it was ranked above all of the FFs in the top 25 psx game list and received a perfect score from Famitsu...hell...it was the highest ranking sqauresoft game...the gfx suck you say? What part of your brain was malfuntioning when you typed that? It's got some of the best gfx the psx has seen...psyco.

i played ultima 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 : Ascension, and ofcourse online... i never passed ultima 9 but i still think the whole series is like the PC's ff...
> Dungeon Master like rpg : Lands of Lore (the first one was really great), Might and Magic (4 and 5 were great too), Wizardry, etc...
Wouldn't this fall under AD&D?

hehe, funny thing about ultima online 2, and why it never got released. At first everything was going good, And it was normally named UO2... then they changed it to something like worlds of ultima online, then worlds of ultima online 2, then ultima worlds online, and then some more names followed, all the uo fans got pi$$ed off about the way they were making the game and they started a petition to PREVENT the company from making the game. They saw that nobody was gonna buy it so they stopped production
