News about the GameCube emulator for PC! It seems gcube is not dead :)

So... gcube did mean to die at o.4, but after a long while of complete inactivity, I picked it up again and made a bunch of improvements. Unfortunately I'm not able to release the newest version just yet. I was trying to make it a Christmas gift this year, but the university took all of my time. Fortunately I graduated this week so that's out of the way. In January I will start looking for a job, and after I get one, again I won't have so much time to work on this project, but I will definitely release 1.o version in the few upcoming months. Keep in mind 1.o doesn't mean it will be finished, or even fully functional. It just means gcube has reached the goals I set up for it. For now I will keep quiet about the changes, but here's a few shots.

Long live GC emulation!

There's some parts I really like in this emulator, for example the speed in these early versions.

GameCubes can be had for around $69 used, why in the world not just buy a GameCube?

Emulators are not created to replace consoles. You are meant to own any console you are emulating anyway.

Technically, but in reality I doubt many people are dumping their BIOSES from their consoles and creating ISOs from their CDs...

It just smacks of "I want free games" when people are 'wowed' by a game they can buy for under $19, frag, I had the chance to buy Mario Sunshine for $10 a number of times...I didn't because I didn't want the game...

But consoles being emulated while they're still being sold leaves a bad taste in my mouth. IMSHO a system shouldn't be emulated until it is no longer commercial, i.e., new consoles aren't being sold...

There are still plenty of GameCube's to be had and you can play GameCube games on the Wii...

I think the Wii is a bigger threat to GC piracy than emulators...
We'll see a hacked Wii before we see a full speed, high compatibility GC emu

Of course, and the GameCube is already hacked for these illegal things ;)

With that $69, you can use it to buy GC games or something else related with emulation :). Besides, if you can play with higher resolution and better graphic in PC, why need GC after all?
