Well I finally got my psx emulator v1.10 to work. It begins with the playstation logo and then switches to the main menu (memory card / CD player). However, I can't get it to start. Just so you know, I did use the "Insert CD Drive" button and I got an error message with a question mark. The screen behind said

CDROM: Using ASPI

I went to the configuration menu and tried all three of the driver settings and still couldn't get it to work.

I'd really like to be able to play from the CD's and avoid making a cd image if I could. Thanks for any help.

In the CDROM settings set Driver and Subcode reading to Auto and press OK.
After that go to File - > Insert Cd Drive and select the drive you put your PSX game in.

Btw: What games have you tried so far?

still didn't work. So I read the FAQ and I believe that my problem is that I don't have Winaspi32. Is this compatible with windows ME.

I was trying to play RE2.

Get the Nero ASPI driver. The one for ME can be found here (ftp://ftp6.nero.com/NeroASPIen.exe). If you want added assurance, find the wnaspi32.dll file that it installs, and put it in your pSX folder.
