i have read all the stickies, but it wasn't clear whether i could actually play games. Can i play a game and actually enjoy it, or is it far too glitchy and slow?

yes you can D: but you need a cool computer (Intel Core 2 Duo , very good Graphic card , etc )

You can look at the video sticky and see gameplay.
Enjoying it depends. Mostly games are slow. Some only work in starting menus. Some just have black screen. There is a compatability list. Their are also screenshots of games being played on a computer with Pcsx2.

an AMD X2 3800+ overclocked at 2.5GHZ should be enaugh to play FFX at fullspeed :)

i have a core 2 duo and a nvidia 7600 something

yeah core2duo rocks!

wipeout fusion should be run with fullspeed with a E6700
