I just got a second system and I can't get PCSX2 to work, have to be forgetting something.
System:
Core2Duo E6600
X1950Pro
2048GB Ram
OS:Windows XP Pro SP2
Installed the latest drivers & DirectX yesterday

Plugins:
GSDX, tried ZeroGS too, exactly the same problems.
CPU: MTGS & DC mode On, tried them with Off too.
CD/DVD: Tried every single plugin, no changes
Games: FFX & Suikoden

Everytime I launch something with Run CD, I get a hard close. No error, nothing. A few configures back, I had it going further, it went in the console to "Starting GS Thread", created a black emulator window that hang entirely and no new console message would start. When running it without MTGS & DC I got the message "DirectSoundCreate!" when launching something and a crash again. I tried my BIOS and these games on my old P4, they run perfectly, although slow. The non-VM version produces crashes: pcsx2t.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Modname: unknown.

Run -> Execute produces the same results. I don't get anything on my screen.

Any advice would be welcome, I'm staring at a crashing emulator for 2 days now, getting tired of it, I want to spank some monsters :)

Going to try redumping my BIOS now to see if it has any effect, but I doubt it.

Same issue with an ISO yes, downloaded the VC DLLs yesterday because I got the error for them. Using an ASUS P5B mainboard, drivers installed, going to reinstall them now though, you never know..

Redumping the BIOS had no effect.

I managed to fix it. Well, not quite.
I plugged in my old hard drive, and copied the folder I used there for PCSX2 to my new hard drive. No crashes. So I download a new version of PCSX2 thinking my not working one is corrupt. Crashes. I set the new one to use the old plugin. Crashes. I replace the new .exe file with the old one. Crashes. I replace the dlls. Crashes.

It's weird, right now I have 2 PCSX folders that are 100% identical in plugins and configuration, 1 of them (fresh one, newly downloaded and configured) crashes every single time, the other one works. I'm considering FRAPSing this for the pure hilarity of it. Whatever the heck is wrong, I'm determined to find it out.

Just out of curiosity, have you installed the drivers for your sound card? I sometimes forget to do this when I re-install my system.

Also, check that you have the SE_LOCK_MEMORY set properly (this is what the VM version asks you to set when it first runs). Zerofrog wrote a small program that will set/unset it for you. You should try unsetting it, then run the VM version again to reset it. linky (http://forums.ngemu.com/pcsx2-official-forum/79674-disable-se_lock_memory-xp-home-sp2.html?highlight=se_lock_memory)
