aparently you can design homebrew games/programs for the 360 now... read more here:
bit-tech.net | Microsoft takes steps to official X360 homebrew (http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2006/12/13/Microsoft_takes_steps_to_official_X360_homebrew/)
so would it be possible to convert pcsx2 to run on a 360?... it does have 3 cores with 2 threads each for a total of 6 threads which would mean some crazy processing power... what do you guys think?

can you use anything with that kit other than c#? will it allow you to jump to arbitrary memory locations?
if you had to port pcsx2 to c# and eliminate all assembly (including the recompilers), it won't be very fast at all.

Isn't Xbox360 is more of pc like system than a plain ps2? And pc is more WAY more powerful than any console, including ps3! Unless Pcsx2 developer find a way to use multi-cores then maybe the xbox360 can run at a "decent speed".

how is the PC way more powerful than any console?:rotflmao: ... the 360 has 3 cores and 2 threads each and running at 3.2ghz.... your e6300 only has 2 cores with 1 thread each... the 360 vid card is like a x1900/7900 but with some dx10 abilities

I sure would love to see xbox360 playing Crysis ;) Have you heard of Core2Quadro? Do you read computers news like everyday as i do? If you had read them then you should know that Pc will only get faster and better--currently we have 4 core cpu now and 8 cores in 2007. Intel stated they will released 32 core processor in 2010...

its actually core2quad not quadro... quadro are workstation gfx cards by nvidia.... and how many people have quad cores right now?... a lot more people have 360s than quad core... an entire 360 console is much cheaper than 1 quad core cpu...
EDIT: and i think the 360 could handle Crysis fine.... latest screenshots dont look as impressive as gears of war does.... and if the 360 cant handle it then how many PCs will handle it? very few

I don't think that any console could be faster compared to the fastest desktop processors right now. Yeah I understand that you want to play PS2 games on your X-Box360, but it's not gonna be easy. At least to the PCSX2 team.
Like tuanming has said, when programming a game, it is not automatically shared by the cores if a device has more than one. Which means if a program is simply programmed, the 360 will be slower than a Pentium 3 performance wise.
Lastly, the PCSX2 team is not interested in porting PCSX2 to the 360 because they're trying to improve performance and compability. And as an extra note, MS will not allow any such software to exist in their homebrew program unless they want some serious headaches.

what do you obtain playing final fantasy X on xbox360? yes xbox360 is more powerfull than a ps2 but...
isn't better buy a ps2 and play the same game on it eheheh? (you play it very well no?)
I think that you make the situation more complicated ehehe:eyemove:
(sorry for bad english:innocent: )

The only poster here that made any sense was par. If you can't write assembly for the 360 then you're not going to play PCSX2 on it, period.

You're forgetting that the power of a computer is not just it's CPU. Desktop computers, as a system, are designed for general purpose tasks. Game Consoles on the other-hand are designed specifically for playing games. When you design a computer system for a specific task you get crazy exponential performance increases.
You can't just say
"My computer has 4 cores so it must be better than a console with 2 cores!"
that's about as smart as saying,
"Chicken's wings are bigger than sparrows', so they must be able to fly better!"
Obviously, even with bigger wings, chickens are not designed to fly at all ;)

Funny, even the Crytek crews/developer said that xbox360/Ps3 doesn't have enough horsepower to play Crysis...which is why they didn't want to ported it to the next gen-console.

Xbox360 as a whole it can play movies, games, online, etc. Basically, it a entertainment system and Pc can do all of that with ease and far more superior than the next gen console. Simply put, pc can do everything that xbox360 can't do. Which is why Crysis is best suited for a pc ;)

Consoles can play everything too, even Crysis (xbla), if they are updated with hardwares like pcs. Anyway, of course pcs are better: you can install a new videocard , cpu, ram whenever you want.

Six year bump. Impressive. Someone, please close this thread.
