Is anybody who is using a pentium D 8xx processor able to get decent frame rates in the ps2 configuration? Or in any games? I have an HP a1532n with 2.8 GHz 820 dual core with Geforce 7300LE. I want to know if it's worth it to upgrade to a 7800 GT or so for performance increase, or if I'm wasting my time. I know Conroe/Kentsfield's perform exceptionally well, but my Mobo is incompatible with them.

When U are using Pentium D .. U Need to turn on Dual core Mode..
Also check the box " Frame Rate Mode is on...
Then restart ur Pcsx2 ...
Not all games u play get the highest frame rate...sometimes
its choppy...:thumb:

FFX should be 'playable', like 30 fps, maybe 40 if you overclock. If you want to know if your GPU is slowing you down, play a game and while it's playing open the task manager (CTRL + SHIFT + ESC) and look at the CPU usage. If the CPU usage is less than ~100%, then your GPU is the bottleneck. If the CPU usage is fairly steady at ~100% then it's still not fast enough to require a better GPU.

Pentium D Performance is slightly fast if u overclock...but the temperature
of cpu will increase...How many Fps u get while u play FFX. ???
did u using ZeroFrog plugins ?? or Gdsx ??

I don't have any of my games ripped yet (I've been studying for exams)... but I did dump my bios to test just the ps2 config (browser setup, system configuration). I have two computers, one is a laptop (Pen M 760 Dothan w/ 1 GB DDR2 ram, ATI X300 mobility 128) other is desktop (Pen D 820, 2 GB RAM, Geforce 7300LE). On my laptop with the ps2 config I can get ~40-50 fps, and it is obviously not dual core. I neglected to mention before I was using ZeroGS 0.96.0 with PS2.0 for my pentium d desktop. I actually tried all four graphics plugins that came with the latest release. I also did have both MTGS and dual core on (I also tried with only one at a time).
Also check the box " Frame Rate Mode is on...
Then restart ur Pcsx2 ...
I see where you can limit frames, but I don't know where the box that says "frame rate mode". I tried limiting frames as well as skipping and I had nothing. Can't check it now as it is late and it's not in my room.
