We cant predict the future,so noone can answer that question.
Also,a 6xxx series should work fine,no need for 7 series cards, except from a few graphic intensive games

In the day all games become playable with 6600 we all will have 8800GTX or better.

you can gain 20+ FPS (Resident 4 is an good example XD) if you have the 7900 series. Heck you might even gain 35+ FPS with the G80/8800GTX!

OK, enjoy your PS3 I guess...
But seriously.... Why do some people expect that if your PC has the same speed as a console, it can run it perfectly? The PC and PS2 are quite different from each other, which means that every single command must be read, then "emulated" and then pass the information to the OS and then to the hardware itself. And vice versa. Quite complex.
This is why non knowledgable people shouldn't get technical data.... But then no one on those PR/Marketers guys can't do anything without it.... :p
Try making a PS2 emulator yourself if you think it's too slow.

now PCSX2 v0.9.2 requirments for nice or outstanding speeds on most Playable or In-Game games are:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 2.66 GHz
Nvidia GeForce 7900 512 RAM PS3
1GB RAM DDR 400 or more
that it's i know it's damn expensive but and now is a hell cheaper one PS2 to buy what u can do only wait for newer stuff from PCSX2 team

You have to have PS2 anyways.
I just love savestates the only reason to play on PC. Ok and greater framerate sometimes.

Heh, dreamcast emulation isn't far as demanding as PS2 so no wonder. It's more fair to compare PS2 to for example Gamecube or Xbox than a Dreamcast really. My opinion is PCSX2 has very low requirements in comparision to the system specifications and how it has been worked on.
Also should be remembered that it seems that Chankast team got hands on some important documentation of dreamcast so they more exactly knew how it had to be coded so they made this emulator in a very short time and how does it look like today? No updates or anything, guess it got too complicated once they would be forced to use the "try & fail/succeed" method like PCSX2 is coded like. It's difficult to code if you have to 'guess' how it works. If there would be complete documentation available of the PS2 console it would be much easier. :p

I am suprised no one mentioned the CPU.
A user with a slow GPU card but a duel core CPU will realise a smoother emulation experience than a user with a hyper fast GPU but a single core CPU.
Dont forget the PC running a emulation still has to be a PC as well as a PS2, additionally the PC CPU has to emulate all the individual processors on the PS2.
I believe there is more than just the CPU in a PS2 , like the GPU and Sound CPU and various other minor IC's ?
Ok I am not 100% sure of this but I think that the reason a emulator seems to have unreasonable requirement is the fact the PC's CPU has to act as the emulated systems CPU + GPU + Sound CPU + various IC's (drive controllers) ... the emulated system is not going to be able to use the PC's GPU/Sound CPU/etc natively..so the PC CPU must initally translate all the calls, then pass the data to the other conponents.

yes the chankast is really a great emulator but my suspect that the creators are Sega themselves to boost at least some DC game sells.Actually the two DC is easier to emulate because it has a WIN on it a DX 7.1 to run games so it`s much easier to atach it to a pc than the PS2 witch has no such OS or DX for that matter.
