ok, when I first start grand turismo 3 it says over 200fps but then when it gets to the part where the menu comes up, I only get 10fps
My computer specs are
Athlon XP 3000+ (400MHz FSB)
1GB DDR 400 RAM
256MB GeForce 7800GS AGP
onboard sound on an ASUS A7N8X-E motherboard
it plays, but the low fps make it almost impossible to play the game, please help

It's normal for that cpu.

Normal for that cup!!!
isnt that same cpu at least twice as fast as the one in the ps2
I didnt think that the cpu had much to do with video rendering, and that was why we have a video card, because the cpu doesnt do that very well to begin with,
I know, I know, this is different because it's emulation software
I guess all games are like that? I thought battlefield2 was very demanding for video cards, but this software is 10times that for cpu's
that would explain why none of the graphics settings I was changing were doing much of anything. LOL
I knew it had to come someday, but I finally heard it, my computer is too slow:angry:

Athlon Xp's started being created in 1999. Athlon XP 3000+ started shipping in 2003. Its a fairly old CPU. (It doesnt even suppor SSE2 which the Vm version requires to run (Check the pinned topic))

Even if the emulator was finished, an Athlon XP would never be up to the task of emulating a ps2.

how would this cpu do?
Athlon 64 3000+ Venice 2.0GHz 512KB L2 Cache

Better but still slow. You really need a dual core (AMD X2 or Intel C2D) to get some nice speeds out of pcsx2.

In pcsx2, the EEREC relies on the SSE2 instruction set. So if you dont have them, it wont run (In VM). And more to the point CPU's that dont have SSE2 are fairly old so it will run slow on them anyway.
