View Full Version : This is really annoying...

I while back I asked how to work all of this stuff, I eventually got it to work for the game I wanted to play. But I never played it, until today where I felt like playing. I got it to play back when I first got everything together, I still have all of those files that I needed to and everything.
But now, when I pop in the first disc to start playing, nothing happens, I've tried both drives, tried run CD-ROM and everything else. But I get nothing, except now my computer is running really slow and laggy, even with the discs out. Any help? The game I was trying to play was Xenogears.
But I'm positive it was playing months ago when I played for 15 minutes...

Make an ISO.

I know I could do that, but is there a way to fix this problem?

You probably just need to (re)configure your CD plugin. Sapu's and Xeven's are great because they mostly autoconfigure. Peops is good too, but requires a bit more work.

@hushypushy: "...(re)configure your CD plugin."? pSX doesn't use plugins. :)
@The_Rebirth: Did you make sure to click "Insert CD drive...", hit Cancel, and then select the proper drive? If that didn't work, did you try hitting "Reset" and seeing if it would load then? Also, do any messages pop up in the DOS console window?

You have the latest version of pSX? pSX emulator (http://psxemulator.gazaxian.com/)
Dump the BIO twice or more to make sure it not bad?
Did you rip the game from the PlayStation cd or got it off the internet?

oh yeah, oops. I'm so used to lumping all these emulators together....what I meant to say was, uh...switch emulators and then configure your CD plugin :heh:

AHH! Such horror you speak hushypushy! SWITCH EMULATORS?!? Who could possibly wanna switch from using pSX?! LOL... but honestly, I find that I only switch over to ePSXe to get past any problem area that might possibly occur using pSX, and I've only ever had to do that once, in one game, out of the probably 40+ games I've played/beat with pSX. Xenogears, admittedly, is a game that can cause problems for people... problems that are usually lessened quite a bit simply by using a ccd/img/sub image instead of the original disc. Though not problems like this... this is something having nothing to do with game compatibility of course.
@KingHanco: The fact that he said he's using a disc, and that he *could* make an image, means he's using an original disc, and hasn't ripped it at all.
The only thing we can do now is wait for him to answer my questions... answers we need to know what kind of advice to offer him. Especially if any messages appear in the DOS window.
