The original japanese version SLPS-25020 has a slightly different program core causing sound issues thus not playable.

Speed has been sacrificed for compatibility in 0.9.2 - no need to report that.
Blocky and stuttering videos are a known issue - no need to report that.

- disable patches made for 0.9.1
- use "file/run CDVD", not "run/execute"
- use PEOPS CDVD driver to avoid infinite loops, install MSVC libraries (http://www.pcsx2.net/downloads.php?p=misc) if necessary
- in PEOPS SPU2 driver disable "threaded mode" (this is experimental, not for general testing)
- MTGS still might occasionally crash, if it happens retry scene w/o it, e.g. the intro before 1st savepoint

- with GSdx9 disable MTGS generally and enable FFX hack

- with zeroGS download the latest DirectX runtime libraries (http://forums.ngemu.com/pcsx2-official-forum/75838-how-make-pcsx2-recognize-new-zerogs.html)
- disable MTGS if FFX hack is not activated automatically
- press F9 to enable FFX hack manually
- only current zeroGS 0.96 supports FFX autohack
- graphics might look worse on out-dated graphics card with 16 bit floating point precision (e.g. ATI 9xxx)
- if you see checkerboard pattern, toggle anti-aliasing and/or bilinear filtering in zeroGs
- your graphics card driver must be set to application controlled anti-aliasing and filtering settings

-----------------------------

FFX-2 only:

I experienced a texture DMA related crash after finishing 1st mission
To pass this point enable wireframe mode in zeroGS (press SHIFT+F6)

To watch FFX-2 videos fullscreen, press F5 to toggle interlace
If you don't want to watch them, use custom skip video patch:

If i'm not much mistaken and if the CRC is what it says the MS-DOS window on PCSX2, the CRC for FFX Spain is the following: 941bb7de
I'm trying the new 0.9.2 on my computer (specs on my signature) and it seems to work quite fine with the two core system but I'm just at the beginning of the game so I'll report any crashes.

How can you increase fps in final fantasy x, i have tried different tweaking but it doesnt help i only get around 15-28 fps maximum.

I have a geforce 6600gt, AMD Athlon 64 3200+ and 1024 ram.

Doomangel

I had at least 30 fps at the intro with 0.9.1 In 0.9.2 i get around 8 fps at the intro(Talking about FFX) Why?

GreenSoda
November 18th, 2006, 20:29
@XForce09: Your fps a pretty normal for that kind of rig

@Doomangel: with no information on your system and plugin settings that pretty much tells us nothing...

Sure I'll give specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2,01 ghz (Clocked to 2,150 ghz)
RAM: 1gb Corsair
Graphics card: ATI Radeon x1600

Plugin specs:
ZeroGS 0.96
Interlace Disabled
Bilinear Disabled
Anti-aliasing None
and the rest is also disabled..
P.e.op's SPU2 1.61
No reverb
No interpolation

Edit: Oh and all CPU options are enabled..

Is that enough?

The original japanese version SLPS-25020 has a slightly different program core causing sound issues thus not playable.

Could you analysis SLPS-25050 (FFX Janapese) code to solve sound issues
I have the ELF file (SLPS_250.50, 4.32MB) if you want.

It still not playable if no patch (CRC: 6a4efe60), causing loud noise repeatly.

But still can't play thought battle system even patched with following:
patch=0,EE,00125f50,word,00000000
patch=0,EE,00125f58,word,00000000

Hi, please bare with my question, I'm new to PCSX. The prog looks great so far. :)

- to watch FFX-2 videos, press F5 to toggle interlace

Do I have to check the Interlace Enabled-Checkbox for this to work? Either way I can see no difference in the different modes. Is this normal? To which one should I toggle, when the video comes?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Nachbrenner,
With R2 versions, game works with MTGS and DC options, FFX hack autostarts. No problem here.
The sound is bad and i see artifacts when a movie is playing in FFX (see video >> http://rapidshare.com/files/3966565/zerogs-PCSX0.92R2-FFX-FRA-MTGSDC-FFXHACK.rar.html -let scripts on-)
I continue my tests
Thx for this release ;)

Sorry for my :spy: english :innocent: :heh:

Your CPU does not support SSE2, therefore you are restricted with ANY game as described in the FAQ.
There is some CPU info in your language http://hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athlon

FYI i added SPU2 info in 1st post.

Thanks, i try to paste those files there, but they already exist.

And i still get the error, im using the linuzzaps iso CDVD driver 0.5.0 , the game works ok, but speed is very slow, have i to wait for future upgrade to the emulator, or there is already a way to increase speed?

Hey Guys!

Good quickstart guide, I got 'er up and running, which has made me excited.

Question for you, what speed should I expect given my rig below? I was hoping for something "close" to full speed, but I seem to be mired around 30 fps. If I should be getting better, any optimization settings?

Thanks!

Sounds a bit low to me, did you enable MTGS and dual core mode in CPU settings and disable antialaising and bilinear filtering for ZeroGS plugin? You can press F6 to switch between the antialaising modes ingame and shift + F5 for bilinear filtering to see if it slows down or not while keeping an eye at the FPS meter.

Other settings that improve speed but very slightly would be using the fastest sound settings and everything unchecked and dump the game to your HDD and use linuzappz Iso CDVD plugin.

benfinkel
January 4th, 2007, 01:34
Ahh,

I missed the MTGS and Dual Core options in the CPU config. MUCH better now :). usually over 60fps, although down to 30 during the boss battle.

Thanks!

FFX-2 international has the following CRC:
E1FD9A2D
but for japanese ps2 only
and this version does not support MTGS&DC (no auto FFXhack)

some little things to add up :)

another way to speed up the CG's is to turn MTGS&DC on and FFX hack off while watching, then swap back afterward.

If you see the following screen for any reason with speed drops all the way from full to 10 fps128210 (like I do) then just save stat, reload, press 'x', enter the equipment screen, choose a random character, exit, and enter the item panel again. this is probably some little problem with the graphic render on either PCSX-2 or your graphic card.

however, if you are getting a complete black or grey screen(or blue in some cases) during a battle, try to press shift+F6(99% it doesn't work in this case). if it doesn't work, then there are some randering problem that cannot be resolved yet, just finish the battle and you will be fine again. this problem is some times fixed on its own when you cast a special skill or spell (like holy or ultima or anything that changes the scene) when pcsx2 and your graphic card re-render the scene. save and load DOES NOT work in this case because it is PCSX-2's rendering, not your graphic card; save and load will just load you back to where you were.
If you are thirsty to see the battle but nothing helps, then restart PCSX-2 and load the save sphere in game. (might fix it but not guaranteed; don't blame me if it erases your battle; think before you do it or save slot it first)

if you are in a normal screen in an event or watching a sphere, then press F6+shift, this should work 99% of the time, but you will only see the wireframe render and not the texture render. again, load the save sphere, it might fix the problem but not guaranteed; do not blame me if it fails and you are pissed.

Hi, just dl the new version and created an iso of FFx using poweriso however im getting real crappy fps 25 and under and i cant even get to the 1st save point as i hit esc to bring up the menu while in game to try and get the patch to load (no luck) then i have no sound and soon a crash occurs.

My system Spec

AMD x2 4200 @2.2ghz
2Gig memory
X1900 xt-x cat driver 6.12

ive tried toggeling off AA and the other stuff when using Zerogs gfx plugin but the fps doenst increase or decrease, have all the cpu options enabled.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

January 4th, 2007, 02:55
are you using the TBL or the regular version?
your plugin set up should look like this (I finished international version, fighting everything including penance, with this set up and never crashed; speed varies from 160 fps to 48 from place to place, CG is around 55 fps):
128211 128212 128213 128214

(try to turn off all unnecessary program like msn or something if you are running any)

hi! can someone help me with my problem? i get to play the game smoothly but it always crashes on the part on the beginning when tidus just escaped from the stadium and auron told him to look up into the sky. at first, i was playing using a game disc so i made an iso in my hard drive but i still got the same result. i used different graphical settings and even different cdvdrom settings but i got the same result. the game is smooth, running at around 40-60 fps on the average but it always crashes at that certain point.

btw here are my specs:
Core 2 Duo E6300
7600Gt
1GB Dual channel RAM

*edit*
i used fadingz's memcards so i managed to load into the first save point and so far so good. thanks dude!

Intel Pentium 4 3Ghz (MMX, SSE, SSE2)
Ati Radeon 9800XT 256mb
1GB Ram

Well i start FFX and everything works fine (even the hack to get the missing texture) but is really slow, around 8FPS. I can't belive that is the best i can get from my pc especially when i saw this movie on youtube:

YouTube - FFX (pcsx2 0.9.2) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIG7CsRfqW4)

He have a worst configuration than mine but look at that speed. That are 30fps at least. I don't know what to do plz help me. (One last thing i have italian version of the game)

Actually in the comments section of that video the author says his actual speed actually runs in the range from 15 to 40 FPS. Which is natural. I think his average FPS would be 15 something. 40 only happens when there is basically nothing in the screen.

As for the recording being full speed, it's because when ZeroGS records a movie it will play back at full speed regardless on how fast your computer is. So say, you computer specs allow FFX to run at 120FPS, the resulting movie will still run at 60FPS.

Oh I didn't know that. Anyway is 8FPS the best i can take from my pc?? If the one in the video manage 15 to 40 FPS with a configuration similar at mine than i should reach the same FPS. Any ideas?

I put my configuration and some information about how I have set the plugins:

Video Plugin: ZeroGS KOSMOS 0.96.0

Interlace Enable
No Anti-Aliasing
640x480 resolution (windowed)

Sound Plugin P.E.Op.S SPU2 Dsound Driver 1.6.0

No Reverb
Cubic interpolation
(No other options set)

DVD plugin Linuzappz Iso CDVD Driver 0.5.0

CPU Settings

EERec - EE/IOP recompiler
VU Recompilers (both enabled)
Multi threaded G5 mode enabled
Frame Limiting Normal

well, ps2 doesn't run on pentium 4 very well, you will need a duo or 2 duo for better or best result(2 duo especially). I get perfect 60+ to 200(charac screen) on my comp.
If it runs smoothly and without any gliches, then it probably is the best your comp can do.
btw, use my set up as in my previous reply(turn your sound setting down! your probably not gonna hear any sound difference anyway, but saves hella of speed ;))

Saberfang

By turning sound setting down i now reach 18-20FPS average that is pretty good (at least it work better than the one in the movie on youtube ;) ). I Think this is the best i can take from my pc and what really make the difference are dual core CPUs actually.

Hello everyone! I'm new here but not the emulation domain ;)

for my first post in this great board I just want to ask if my specs are enough to get FFX (french version) to go faster than just an average 25 frames ingame (the fps counter goes mad in the 2D menus reaching 200fps!) using 0.9.2 pcsx2 (VM version)

Pentium D Processor 805 2.66 Ghz 533mhz Fsb 2x1mb Cache Lga775
i865G intel chipset based Motherboard
512 MB DDR Dual channel RAM at 400mhz.
250 GB SATA2 western digital.
sapphire radeon 9600XT 500mhz GPU / 128MB 300mhz memory.
Crystal soundfusion PCI sound card.

I'm using a game ISO with daemon tools
zeroGS 0.96 (all options off)
PEOPS SPU2 1.6.0 (all options min/off)
PEOPS CD/DVD 1.2.0 (IOCTL scsi commands, virtual d-tools drive, caching mode none, other options all off)
USA v01.60 bios
All CPU features enabled and and normal frame speed (when i use the simple frameskip option the animation becomes laggy)
no patches enabled.

well I think that's all i can report for my specs and emu config so if there's a solution please fell free to reply :)

yes i have it, why is that? i created myself the ISO image I'm using with nero7. (nrg format)

you think my specs are up to it for FFX? cause i tried Capcom VS SNK 2 (NTSC) and it works at full speed all the time. if i had to change something in my PC wich can it be? the CPU or the graphic card?

Fadingz
January 20th, 2007, 19:37
then u dun need daemon tool, use iso plugin and play from iso straight, likelinuzapps ISO
choose the directory of where you created the iso
if you wanna change ur comp, i'd say graphic card since it's cheaper
CPU will cost a fortune if you really want to, like Core2duo 2.40 ghz

about the linuzapps plugin it doesn't seem to work for me, i used different DVD image forms (iso, nrg...) but the emulator tells me "there was an error loading xxx.iso or xxx.nrg"...

i did gain some frames when disabling antivirus and other background softs and it's now about 30 frames overall. The slowdown generally occurs in speech scenes (about 20/25 frames) and the game goes at full speed (40/50 frames) in the playing/combat scenes and 2D backgrounds.

^^ anytime
also, if u really want more fps, you can try to overclock ur gfx card, though quite risky. I got more than 10fps by overclocking mine(an extra 36mb memory boost and some core boost:D) just search the forum a bit, you'll find guides to do so, or just google it.

Hi guys I have something odd to report.

After applying a patch created with this guide http://forums.ngemu.com/pcsx2-official-forum/72745-ipu-freeze-fix-patch-pal-ffx-ffx-demo.html for FF X (SLPS_250.26 - CRC: BB3D833A) the "Blocky and stuttering videos" problem was "solved". Instead I get some frames lost (almost none) and intermitent playback.

nucleo
January 30th, 2007, 21:26

If you don't want to watch them, use custom skip video patch:

fyi - FFX hack fixes missing polygons as seen in attached picture.

Thank you for this piece of info. However would you mind explaining once more in plain simple english what settings to apply and what should and shouldn't be ticked?

The only reason i am asking this is because upon following your instructions, i haven't been able to find a way of using the zeroGS graphics plugin while also using the FFX hack feature, since it only exists in the GSdx9 plugin.

Furthermore, i am only using this emulator strictly for FFX, FFX-2. I have not tried running X but have tried with X-2. Everything works well until the intro, then suddenly my screen appears to be split horizontaly in 2, while displaying the same picture, some of the image resembles to a checkers board. But doesn't resemble so bad.

Could you please help?

I am on a AMD athlon x2, 4200+; 2GB ram; 512mb 6600 Geforce.
Operating system is a Windows XP Pro x64.

(I am not sure if it is because of my x64 operating system)

Press F5 to disable interlace mode and it will fix the videos, however the sound still stutters (probably due to my ~20fps in the FMVs however).

On the lastest zero gs plug-in (0.96 i think) the FFX hack is automatically enabled when playing FFX. Anyway u can activate/deactivate it using F9.

Yes, I have serveral version of bios put in a same directory and the pcsx recognize all of them. (USA, Japan, EU version)

if you understand then why did you post about it in the forums? ANYWAYS
i got a question about a processor comparison real quick which is better

E4300
or
E6300

i heard they overclock about the same....

im also having a problem with X-2 with MTGS enabled... but it works fine without it. ^^

Barius
February 1st, 2007, 17:25
The E4300 is basically an E6300 without the virtualization feature, and with an FSB limit of 800Mhz (the FSB for E6300 is 1066). Since virtualization isn't something a home user, or a gamer, is likely to ever use it's pretty much a write off. The bus speed is the only significant difference IMHO.

I've read benchmarks showing that the E4300 is basically just as good at overclocking as the E6300, so you can still get very good performance out of it. So, my 2 cents is that if you are budget conscious the E4300 and a cheaper mobo (lower FSB) are going to be a very good option.

dashboardy
February 1st, 2007, 17:46
The thing is, right now the processors are about the same price +/- 10 bucks usually. As mentioned the E4300 has a lower FSB speed, which in theory should make it more overclockable with 800 MHz DDR2 ram. (i.e. you don't have to go to 1066 RAM). I'll agree with Barius - both an overclocked E4300 and E6300 can outperform a (stock) X6800 - with the E6300 being more able to match it because of L2 cache and Bus speed. but, you can save probably 200 bucks in RAM and Mobo by going to the E4300 and STILL outperform a stock X6800. man I love core 2.

Video card not as important as CPU - This (http://www.cpuid.org/download/pcw2007_v172.exe) is a utility that can also ID other hardware, and can say what motherboard you have, to see if you can upgrade to dual core.

I just insallted PCX2 at my computer to play FFX at it. I read this guide and now FFX runs. But as i expected, its very slowly. I get only 8 to 15 fps. Now i want to make it al little bit faster. Thats my PC-system:

I just tried to turn the sound off, but i couldn´t manage to do this. I copied the "SPU2null.dll" file to my plugin folder, but it isn´t displayed in the configuration dropdown list. So i continued using Peops Sound 1.6. There i set all options to its lowest value and unchecked all checkboxes. But i can still hear this bloody sound  . So how can i turn the sound off to get a boost?
Are there any other tips you can give me to raise the performance?

Well i dont want to open a new thread for a stupid question, so, please, let me use this one.

First of all, my game runs around 30fps all the time. i believe that's ok with y rig (athlon 64 3200+ @ 2.4ghz and 7600GT)

But I would like to understand one thing about the FPS and slowmotion-like performace. The FFX on the PS2 runs at 30fps constantly. Square-Enix at the time said that (actually most of the PS2 games runs at 30fps) . But you don't get that slow motion feeling that you get when playing with the emulator. Why not? is there a way to fix this? I tryed the frame skip but the frames gets jumping and it's even worst than in slowmotion.

Even with PC games, when the FPS gets around 30 I can feel the difference, but I still can play it nicely. Not as smoth as if it was 60fps, but still no slowmotion and no "jumping frames".

sorry for my band english.

The game might only run at 30fps, but the ps2 still runs at 50/60 fps, it just has to display the same image two frames in a row. The fps quoted by pcsx2 is the ps2 fps not the game fps. Basically saying the game runs at 30fps just means that it only updates it's graphics every 2nd frame, so with pcsx2 running at 30fps the game would be running at ~15fps, make sense?

Hi guys! :D

First of all, my computer specs:
AMD Athlon64 X2 4600+
2 GBs of RAM
GeForce 7950 GT (512 MBs of VRAM on-board)

I've just managed to install PCSX2 0.9.2 and to try Final Fantasy X on it, with these settings:
ZeroGS KOSMOS 0.96.0: Interlace Enabled, no Bilinear Filtering, no AA, resolution @ 1024x768
PEOpS SPU2 1.61.0
SSSPSX Pad Plugin 1.7.0
PEOpS CDVD Driver 1.2.0: W2K/XP IOCTL, Read-Ahead, 4x speed (I'm using it along with Daemon Tools)
BIOS: v2.00, European version.

Since I have a dual core CPU I've tried to enable MTGS and dual core mode in the CPU settings, but if I run the game and I activate the FFX Hack using F9, as soon as the intro of FFX appears, the video output window "goes crazy" showing artifacts everywhere, while the DOS console shows a bunch of lines saying "Transfer1 - 2". oO
If I deactivate MTGS and dual core mode, the game just runs fine, but it's very, very slow for my kind of machine (around 24 FPS during the introduction).

Can someone help me?? Thank you so much!

You can't, your pc is too slow. Play it on your ps2 instead or upgrade your pc. If you have a socket 939 or AM2 cpu then you could fairly easily upgrade to an Athlon 64 X2, but you still might not get full speed. An Intel core 2 duo is recommended at the moment, the better ones get full speed in FFX most of the time.

It seems that for my particular system (see my specs in my signature), it's ONLY able to load the PS2 disc (playable condition) when:
Graphics: GSdx9
Cdvd: EFP polling 0.4.0
**Other than this two settings, my system will NOT work for me at all.. Lolz...**
MTGS / DC NOT enabled, cos it crash my program...

Blocky video is a thing that's not fixed in PCSX2, hmmm... but the background of the games are really in bad shape!! :rotflmao:
Tried how to ON the FFhack but not sure how to.. Pressed F9 during the games load, but nothing happen.. Maybe need to install something..?
Nice character but with all checkers background though..

Well, with the above settings, my game started off with a constant 78fps for the beginning. When the scenery starts, it drops to 9fps the more i waited (before pressing start button), the fps value decrease... until around 3fps.. :rotflmao:
Hmmmm... *ponders*
That's not all.. After pressing start, the main screen appears and fps shot up to 60fps..
BUT entering 'new game' cost the fps to drop and drop again......

My specs PIV 3.0 -> 3,45ghz . RAM 512mb bus 400 . ATI 9550GE 256mb-128 bit ...

Ah, Do you think if i take ATI x1650Pro-512mb or 6600GT , I can play FF X with FPS = ? ...
Thanks everyone :)

Well, i fixed the "Nice character but with all checkers background" by checking the "NLOOP 0 hack" should be the FFhack i assume.. Lolz..
Now then i find out..

Hmmm...
How to burn the image into an ISO file? lolz..

*fainted*

Still, it's running slow..

Howdy, lets start off with CPU specs:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.4GHz 4MB L2 Cache)
GFX: GeForce 8800GTS 640MB
RAM: 1GB of DDR2 667MHz

I first attempted to use the FFX CD directly using the PEOPS CDVD plugin, but the game didn't feel like loading. Then I tried making a ISO and using Linuzappz ISO CDVD plugin, and experienced a couple crashes before I got to the movie where Tidas plays Blitzball and Sin arrives. So now I am using an ISO running via Daemon Tools and using the PEOPs plugin and I am able to play.

With most options maxed out I get 40-70FPS, but if any movies come on I have to turn AA off, or else it is distorted beyond any sort of recognition aside from the general color of the scene. Is there any way to resolve this, or do I have to watch all the movies in lower quality?

Fadingz
April 16th, 2007, 03:18
AA does not change the quality of CG any wayb/c in FFX, all CG are made into PSS files (2D media files rather).

Wraithan
April 16th, 2007, 03:19
Well they look blocky/crappy I assumed it was because it wasn't being AA'd, what other options could up the quality?

Hi,
I just tried to play FF X with the PCSX 2 v0.9.2 and it worked a bit, but not good enough. I have FPS around 35 (at intro and the first playable scene) and this sucks. AND: After the intro I do not have any sound.

My system configuration:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 @1.86GHz
GeForce 7900 GS
1GB DDR-2 Ram

Isnt this enough to play FF X with 50 FPS or do I have any wrong configurations?

I hope you can help me!

My settings and average FPS in case any one wants to know or use my settings :

Pentium D 805 over clocked at 2.99 ghz cooled with freezer pro 7 , HIS ATI RADEON x1650 PRO IceQ AGP 512mb GDDR2 stock speed ( over clocked it and did not see a difference in FPS ). Windows XP Professional SP2 (5.1.2600) , 1024mb pc 3200 ram.

Settings:
Visual effects in windows set to best performance ( not that I know if it does a difference... , but I read it does in another thread ). Pcsx2 0.92 Watermoose running with 256 color and disabled visual themes compability .

ZeroGS KOSMOS 0.96.0 : Tried Interlace( disabled/ mode 0 / mode1 ), did not see any graphical difference and it did not change my FPS.
Bilinear Filtering lowered my FPS so I turned it off.
Anti-aliasing : 4x during game play ( doesn't affect my FPS at all but improves graphic quality) Off during videos ( videos become scrambled if AA is on ).
Wireframe : off
Default Window size ; 1280x960 ( didn't see a FPS impact at lower resolutions).

Sound: P.E.Op S. SPU2 1.6.0 : no reverb , no interpolation , all other settings off , I had trouble with SPU2 Irq on , it would cause distortion in certain frequencies. Tried adding NULL sound plug-in but I couldn't get 0.9.2 to recognize it ( it did in 0.9.1 )

EFP Iso CDVD driver 0.6.0 with SLUS_203.12.

Cpu : All settings on , Frame limiting ( or else menus are like at 150-250 FPS and moving around is a pain ).

As for my FPS , it depends where I am , I get 25-35 in the huge places with lots of people ( walking feels like you're in slow motion ). In most places I get 35-45 FPS , In fast places I get 45-64. Videos are usually slower at 20-30 , And battles around the same ( summoning AEONS slows down also ).

I find the speed is pretty good for such an outdated system, its sluggish but really playable.

Hope this helps anyone :)

It can't be THAT urgent. As you legally need a ps2 to use pcsx2, if something doesn't work on pcsx2 just play it on your ps2 instead.

The Magic Hobo
April 19th, 2007, 20:59
Do you mean that it freezes before it starts playing the intro movie? If it does you could try making a skip video patch for it.

Intergalactic

The Magic Hobo

You have to put the patch in the patches folder in the pcsx2 directory, and then in pcsx2 click on misc, and then enable patches. I remeber seeing a skip video patch over in the user patches thread, you should give that a go.

(Or is that the one your using? Damn my inability to read things properly!)

I only assumed you were pirating because you explicitly said that you didn't have a ps2, and "got everything from a friend". No offence, but there is no way that that doesn't sound dodgy.

And btw, if it's slow or buggy it's because pcsx 2 isn't finished, and isn't supposed to be a substitute for playing games on a real ps2, just something to muck around with.

btw here are my specs:

i'm using the PAL version of the game and, as chickenchaser did, i as well used different settings for video-/cpu-/dvd- and sound-plugins but still it doesnt get beyond this point and crashes. i think that the bios im using (Europe v02.00 (14/06/2004)) should be applicable to the ISO ive got.
im running mad... thanks for any help :D

Just one question, is there a particular reason you quoted the date in the BIOS name? I may be wrong but BIOS's that you download illegally usually incorporate the date they were dumped into the file name, is this the case?Or have I jumped to conclusions? I do that sometimes!(And if anyones wondering how I know, It's not because I downloaded any BIOS's but if you want the explanaiton I will post it! It just would make this post very long)

amaasbier

Ok, if you did dump your own BIOS it's ok, Piracy isn't supproted here! As it happens I have the exact same problem you do, I did have one completely random, shot in the dark idea, about using G3dx9 instead of zerogs, I would have tried it myself but my bedroom is a ****hole and I cant find the ff-X disc! As soon as I find it I'll try it though, and if you try it tell me how it goes!Like I said, it might not work at all though.

Oh and sorry for taking so long to reply, my crappy pc crapped out on me and I had to wait for it to cool down(literally, overclocked AMD durons dont work very well for longer than about five seconds!)

amaasbier
April 24th, 2007, 23:10
do always make backups from your original games, so you can put them into your shiny collection-cupboard xD

i just tried G3dx9... but still the emulator crashes when im leaving the scene southwards. i find it interesting though that pcsx2 now fails loading the savestate i made via emu. as well i can't start a new game anymore and the game crashes.
but now that i've switched back to zerogs, it works again fine.

i'm sorry to tell - this doesn't bring me/us any further.

The Magic Hobo
April 25th, 2007, 08:42
Oh well, it might have worked! And as for backing up games, I do, It's just I only have a 200 GB HDD, with 54 games to backup, so not all get backuped, I have to decide which ones are more important! And it already has windows, a few pc games and a couple of movies saved on it, not to mention my ENTIRE psone game collection!(42, If your interseted!) And I know where the original disc is, its in a cupboard behind a vertical standing freezer(the room the freezer was in was demolished! It was made of wood and was starting to rot!:dead: ) I meant I didn't know where the copy I made of it is, I dont fancy moving a freezer thats bigger than me for one game:lol: But I suppose I should go and get it to see if I can find another soultion, and order that terabyte hard drive I was eyeing up in my local computer shop:lol:

hi,
i'm playing FFX-2 now, because i'm through FFX, but sometimes it crashes randomly (i think because the dual-core options are enabled).

Also there is this bluescreen sometimes in battles. It's playable with it, but i wondered if this problem is solved up to now...

And the Cutscenes are running at 26-32 FPS while the game itself has 60 and above. Is this normal?

C2D E6600@3060Ghz
1Gb RAM
Radeon X1950XTX

The Magic Hobo

Ok, I had another idea(that didn't work, but made a tiny, miniscule bit of progress!)I tried using pcsx2t instead and instead of the program crashing, it just hangs, this isn't the advancement of the century, but it's something. I cant think of anything else to try so Im gonna wait for the next release and hope it helps, and if it doenst then, I dont know!

@ WKoD, what is your plugin config? Like are you using ZeroGS(more likely!)or G3DX9(not likely, but still, you didn't say!) and are you using an ISO or the actual disc? And the blue screens and random crashes, I dont know, cus I dont have FFX-2. But the framerates your getting I would say are about right, you should check the screenshots thread to see what other people get if you still aren't sure. Oh and you could try playing without the dual core options on, it will reduce your framerates but it might not crash(as much!).

WkoD
April 25th, 2007, 13:35
the crashing stopped after i disabled the dual core options, so this problem is solved.
in the sreenshot thread someone get low FPS in the cutscenes too, so this seems to be a general problem

some people got random bluescreens during the battle too, but i wondered, if there is a fix now

and i use zerogs and made an iso of the game

The Magic Hobo
April 25th, 2007, 13:38

this is my first post and i didnt mention it. whatever - hi to all of you, etc.

When you say it "crashes" do you mean the emulator actually crashes with a program error, or it just appears to freeze?

Reason I ask is that I've seen both that Auron bug, and the one when Yuna becomes a summoner in Besaid, and all I had to do was wait 2-3 minutes and it eventually carried on. I knew it wasn't totally frozen because the frame rate was still changing.

I'm also running the PAL version of the game with the v2.0 bios. Same setup as you except I'm using the Linuzappz Iso CDVD Driver 0.5.0.

I -think- it's not the same classic "blocky videos" bug --- there was a clip of that earlier in this thread, post #13 and that was mostly watchable, and not just giant blocks with occassional flashes of corrupted content..

And no, interlace and AA settings don't make a diff for this..

P.S. do you get stuff upside down in many battles, too?

I'm having some issues with the sound in FF X.

Some one mentioned this problem a few pages back, but I couldn't find a reply to it. I apologize if this is a standard problem which everyone gets, but I couldn't find any evidence of that in the quickstart guide, and I've read that the game is 'fully playable' (I would assume that this includes sound).

The problem is that I'm not getting sound after the intro. I got a bit in the very beginning (like the intro movie and in-game before the first blitzball video where sin arrives), but then after that nothing.

I get some occasional sound effects (like rushing water, and some weirdly distorted explosion sounds), but otherwise nothing. No music, effects or dialogue. The weird thing is that I do get sound in the cinematic cut scenes.

Other than that the game seems to run fine, I'm averaging about ~20-30 fps, and the cinematic fmv sequences are running fine (they're blocky, but I can live with that, I enjoyed them on my plasma TV when I first played the game :) ). It feels a bit sluggish, but not too badly.

I'm running the game from an .nrg file of my PAL version of FF X that I made with nero. (hard disk access is faster than DVD drive) I'm using pcsx2 0.9.2 under windows XP SP 2. Obviously the PEOPs SPU2 plugin (since 0.9.2 won't allow anything else)

For the settings of the plugin:

volume: medium
reverb: no reverb
interpolation: none
none of the misc options enabled.

And my sound comes from the on-board of my ASUS P5ND2 SLI-deluxe motherboard.

Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance.

Has this sound issue for Japanese FFX already been fixed, by a patch or anything?

Could you analysis SLPS-25050 (FFX Janapese) code to solve sound issues
I have the ELF file (SLPS_250.50, 4.32MB) if you want.

It still not playable if no patch (CRC: 6a4efe60), causing loud noise repeatly.

But still can't play thought battle system even patched with following:

Hello there, its my first post, and of course it has to do with a problem. PCSX2 crashes in the beginning of the game, after I sign some balls and walk the huge walkway. In the end of the way, when I change screen, everything collapses (sometimes I manage to see for some secs the stadium entrance from high-above). No matter what combination I tried in the plugins, nothing happened. I also deactivated everything in the CPU options, but still...

My system is Intel Core Duo 6600, 2 GB RAM, Geforce 8800GTS, and running Windows Vista 64bit. Any help with this?

Disable the DualCore options (MTGS and the other)!

With setting are you using!?

jmad
June 18th, 2007, 18:40
Unfortunately I already have tried those Dual-Core options, but still the same. When you say setting, you mean the plugins? Well, actually the problem persists using ANY graphics, sound, or dvd plugin (ok, I didn't try another sound plugin cos there is only one in the package). I also tried any BIOS I could find, from European to Japanese... Too bad, cos the emulator runs great until that -early- point. I'll try using another sound plugin and I will post the results here.

Update: Hmmm... There is no other sound plugin as I see...

Hi guys,

sorry if I act as a thread necromancer, but I think creating a new topic for my question would be even worse :).

Anyway, here is my problem with the german version of FFX:

I can't see the cutscenes using the ZeroGS graphics plugin. I'm not sure if this is the blocky cutscenes bug you guys are talking about ( because I certainly see a lot of blocks here, but no cutscene). It works with gsdx9, in which case I can actually see the cutscene, but at around 7 fps because I have to deactivate MTGS and DC.

So, option 1 (ZeroGS) let's me play the game, but I can't watch (and can't skip) the cutscenes. Option 2 (gsdx9) let's me see the cutscenes, but everything is unplayable slow. Option 3 (with ZeroGS) using activated patches allows me to skip the cutscenes, but then I have unlimited HP, MP and money, which takes the fun out of the game.

Is there a fourth option I missed?

My system:

Core duo E6750
Geforce 8800 GTS 640 MB Ram
2 gig ram

Again I'm sorry if this question has already been answered in the thread, but I might have overlooked it within all those postings.

Thank you in advance

FFX-2 is very playable with mine, but I do get a blank blue screen in both Besaid and Mi'hen Highroad (I am assuming they use roughly the same code thing as I don't seem to get it elsewhere).

Mind you, I haven't got that far through it yet, so I'm expecting it to explode should I get to say Chac in the Via Infinto.

Just thought I'd let you know. Not expecting a pnatch to work with the battle moment.

hi all,

dunno if this thread is still alive or not, but i'm new in PS2 simulation and having trouble to reach 50fps for FFX

my specs:
Athlon64 X2 4000+ @ 2.3GHz
2GHz DDR2 667MHz
ATI X1950 Pro 512MB

there's a lot video plugins and I don't know what's the best. can someone please give me a recommended configuration for FFX? and how many fps do you think my computer can reach.

I did minimize the sound setting, no AA, just turn the Bilinear filtering on because I cannot stand the quality when it is off (even when turning on Bilinear Filtering, it's still quite ugly with no AA).

thanks a lot.

Well the problem seems to be your CPU! It´s just to weak!

Bu i would say MAX 35-40 FPS!

PS: Use the newest Gsdx9 0.1.1!

And make a ISO and so you can run it from your computer! do you have the dualcore options enabled?

And are you using 0.9.5 or 0.9.4?

Shadow Lady
December 28th, 2007, 21:26
use GSdx 0.1.2 be sure u have enabled the MTGS and Dual-Core options in the cpu options of the emulator, enable logZ and disable alpha correction in the GSdx settings, u can increase the internal resolution there at your discretion but even the default 1024x1024 is ok enable texture filtering too for best quality, use P.E.Op.S 1.9.0 sound plugin for best sound it may go out of sync in slow cutscenes thou, if u dont like that use ZeroSPU instead

still with your cpu it may be difficult to get full speed all the time but it's good enough :P

the intro scene one is know to goo very slow, most cutscenes are slow but rest of the game should be good enough speed (almost full speed most of the time ingame)

there might be some glitches here and there but this should be the best quality/speed settings :P

I just started using PCSX2 yesterday, and started trying to emulate FFX. But something really weird happens just after I find the kid in the bridge and talk to Auron. Just when he yells "Look" and Tidus looks, they like, merge, and the game halts. Whay may be happening? (At first PCSX2 crashed, but then I deactivated MTGS and DC and the game only halts).

My rig: E6750@2,66ghz, 2GB DDR2 RAM@800, nVidia GeFore 8600 GT 256 mb, Win XP SP2.

Tried with both ZeroGS and GSdx9.

GSdx (http://forums.ngemu.com/ps2-plugin-questions-troubleshooting/97657-gsdx-new-post.html)

P.E.Op.S 1.9.0 comes with the files of PCSX2 0.9.4

the beta implements some new things, fixes some bugs, best way to find out is trying urself, u can have both just rename the .exe that come with the beta to something else (like pcsx2095.exe and pcsx2t095.exe) and put them in the same folder of 0.9.4 you shouldnt face any problem with it

Sup guys,

quick question here. Should I be getting more fps from my spec?

Pentium Dual-Core 2.6Hz, 8800GTS 640mb, 4GB DDR RAM, XP

PCSX2 config: ZeroGS 0.97.0 with AA 4x, Bilinear filtering normal, 1280x720

I usually get 60fps with slight dips here and there, but I'm experiencing a noticeable drop in fps on Mi'ihen Highroad, down to 45ish. Should I been lagging so much?

I tried using GSdx, but it looks a lot worse than ZeroGS for some reason.

Qaddafi
February 4th, 2008, 21:40
actually that's good fps. Do u have MTGS and dual core enabled. If u do then that's the highest u can get. If not then u should be getting more with those enabled. Also enable frame skip. With all of that u should get full speed everywhere.

I cannot seem to get past the scene in Luca where the blitzball teams are being introduced as they come off the boats. After they talk about Sin destroying Kilika, they are about to introduce the next ramp of players and the screen goes black and stays that way. The music during this time still plays, but nothing else happens.

I CANNOT enable MTGS or the DC modes.. If I do, PCSX2 refuses the load, saying "Cannot alloc GS ring buffer"... all my other programs recognize the fact I have two cores, except for this emulator for some reason. This means I get -AWFUL- framerates even with the GSDX plugin. It's super slow during most cutscenes, battles are slow, walking around is horrid especially in the Jungle. Most of the time, it'll say 40%-60% in the titlebar. With my specs, I should be getting more, right? With my specs, I should be able to enable MTGS, too... shouldn't I? This is all weird...

(As well, I'm having trouble even accessing these forums lately, keep getting server failure messages)

Make sure that you are using the latest version of GSDX (found here (http://forums.ngemu.com/ps2-plugin-questions-troubleshooting/97657-gsdx.html#post1244950)), the older versions crash with MTGS/DC enabled. The % shown on the titlebar is the amount of CPU usage used by GSDX to render the graphics.

kuro
April 18th, 2008, 05:08
I'm using the latest GSDX, yes. But, the MTGS problem has nothing to do with the gfx plugin I use. No matter what my plugins are, I cannot enable MTGS without that "GS ring alloc buffer" error when starting up PCSX2. It's basically pretending I have a single core CPU and refuses to work with my dual core enabled. I have to literally wipe out my ini file every time I attempt to enable that MTGS option, because if I don't, I can never get back into PCSX2.

Andrets, it's GPU usage, even though it says CPU. If it's 99%, means your GPU limited.

Terribly sorry, the time stamps taken to measure that % are confusing since they don't match up all of the time with what other hardware monitoring indicates (see attached screenshot). The screenshot is with frame limiter enabled to show that the percentage shown does NOT match the actual GPU usage. I left it running for a bit to stablize GPU/CPU usage in the bios. Note that the 11% is closer to the amount used for the second core. I know for certain that it isn't the percent of CPU usage used by the emulator (for EE, VUs, etc.) like several people think upon first glance. It is still my understanding that it refers to GS usage, but it seems like we are saying the same thing?

Terribly sorry, the time stamps taken to measure that % are confusing since they don't match up all of the time with what other hardware monitoring indicates (see attached screenshot). I know for certain that it isn't the percent of CPU usage used by the emulator like several people think upon first glance. It is still my understanding that it refers to GS usage, but it seems like we are saying the same thing?

In that case (running your bios), I guess you have frame limiter enabled. That's why you won't see 100% cpu usage in windows task manager as you already are at 60fps. And the 11% in GSdx show that you are not limited by you video card.
iirc GSdx does not show the cpu usage, it indicates how much cpu power it gets besides pcsx2.
When it's at 99%, it's waiting for the video card to render. When it's under 99%, then it's waiting for pcsx2 to finish some work.

One more question, if i install Directx 10 there will be some improvements on gameplay?

In XP?, no.
It helps only in Vista to earn more fps in GPU limited games, since DX9 mode is slower than in XP.

...Where's the quickstart guide? Or is it the first post? o.O

I'm getting some problems with the savestates (No problem, I can save normally if I have to), and also the game seems to get bugged after you get the sword, since Tidus just stands there, doing nothing... Any ideas?

Yeah, Save States are not recommended, if you have to use them, make sure to save normally soon afterwords.

Fair enough... I just got past that point by playing with no savestates. Thanks ;)

hi guys,
Im wondering if anyone here has encountered a similar problem before
My FF-X runs perfectly well for the most part on the emulator, with some framerate dips here and there. But I am having a strange problem with the sphere grid. It worked fine before, but now, towards the end of the game, Im having strange white lines flicker through the grid and the FPS drops to something like 9. Is there any way to get rid of these lines and has anyone heard anything about this error before?
Thanks guys

I've seen those lines sometimes too, tyr (And I've just started the game). But I haven't noticed any framerate drops.

Change camera position <L2, R2, select> to get rid of the lines.

By the way, I'm getting some low fps in some areas. Well, apparently the actual fps are fine (50-ish), and in fact I've been in this area before (The beach town) and it was alright; but after saving the game and then loading it, it seems a bit sluggish when you're moving around.

It's not that big a deal, it's still playable. But I'd like to know if there's any way to fix it =P

I've tried not limiting FPS, but of course that makes the game run a lot faster...

EDIT: Oh, apparently it got fixed after leaving that town and loading the game again. Well, it's a minor annoyance, but not that big a deal. I'm more worried about the game getting bugged (I had to play though the octopus "boss" twice, since the first time Rikku became invisible and the game got bugged when the fight ended (Well, the second time she was invisible again, but at least the fight ended properly).

And so...what is your issue?

40FPS is to be expected with your system.

Make sure you follow the guide in my signature. Get the latest GSdx and good luck, but even on mine when I was @ 3.0GHZ, had slow downs in some parts.

it's a matter of GFX, plugins or processor?

i was thinking to upgrade my e2180 with an e8400 because my motherboard supports it. MSI p35 neo2-FR.
if overclocked at 3,4
will it boost to 60 fps?

Mkilbride2588

Yes, most likely, but I wouldn't push your processor that far, your current that is, a E8400 can easily hit 4.0GHZ, so 3.4 is not an issue. Just know what you're doing.

Hi guys

sry to bother you yet again with a video issue. It's just really annoying, as I'm about to finish the game - or so I think. It happens when moving the airship to Sin, and you stand on the airship, listening to the hymn. Then the ground shakes, Tidus turns, and the game hangs. In normal pcsx2, I'm just getting an 'error in Program - needs to be closed' from windows (vista64), in threaded mode the prog throws a cpuTlbMiss exception and then toggles a breakpoint.
I already tried to disable MTGS/DC, but had no success. As the game so far ran (almost) perfectly, and I already tried some previous - and later releases, I don't really know what to do. Any suggestions?

Hope someone encountered the same problem and can offer a solution.

Thanks and greetings from Austria,
Soul

Hi, you guys seem to know a lot more about this than I do.
My system is a pretty old one - Intel Pentium 4 2GHz processor with an AMD Radeon x1650 graphics card.
I get less than 10fps usually and I was wondering wether it's hopeless with my system or perhaps you can suggest some sort of configuration for me...
