Lol, I'm not a kiss ass, but the fact is, it's plainly amazing, almost every system out their has 2-3 emulator teams working on it, except for Xbox, when it became obvious there was no need.
Yet it seems, PCSX2 is the only one who is actually trying to get anything done. Watch, once PCSX2 completes people will obviously start ripping the code off and making their own PS2 emu's, which is a good thing, but if PCSX2 had just stopped like all the other teams, there would be no PS2 emu out there, most likely.
Crash prone? hmm ?? It's because of you, the only times I get any crash's are when I do something that I know has a high chance of crashing or play a game that isn't compatible

I must thank you again guys. I just dual booted Vista(Against my BETTER Jugement) to try out the fabled DX10 in GSdx....worth it, even without SP1 installed(Downloading as we speak), my FPS SHOT UP 15FPS total in DragonBall Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3, and my GFX card seems to be 25-40% less in use up top now than it had been previously - which means I can increase resolution EVEN FURTHER! I hear SP1 will also give me a nice lil boost, so I look forward to that.
I know this is really a Thank You to GSdx's gabest, but I'm excited and this is the only Thank You thread. Sadly, I did NOT get a speed boost in Persona 3, or Dragon Quest VIII , but it seems I'm CPU limited in that respect...sadly =/
FPS went up 5 FPS in Shadow Hearts! Yeah ha! 55FPS, pretty damn close to maximum. Says it's only using 10-15% of my Graphics card...so much is CPU based, I guess.
Still, thanks again!

I'm thanking all the intelligent, talented, and very dedicated people who are working on making this emulator really great with each release!
People love games all over the world, but unfortunately, some don't have access to being able to purchase the ps2 machine or its games anymore due to its age. With the help of this emulator and all the other parts that help make it work, people can now enjoy what was probably the most successful gaming console of the past decade.
Not only do the people involved in the ps2 emulation are giving everybody the chance to be able to enjoy the games of yesteryears, but they are also reviving interest in a lot of games by giving us access to a "patch code finder". There were lots of games before that many of us really love which didn't have the fun cheats that we wanted, but now, it's possible to find them on our own or even figure out new ones!
Emulation is not an easy thing to do. It requires extensive knowledge and sleepless nights of coding and endless testing. There's even a risk of busting your system if you make a horrible mistake in one of those Assembly codes. Then there are those rude and extremely demanding people who don't appreciate the hard work and only want to "make this game work" as if it can happen at the flick of a finger.
I salute everyone, from the coders to the plug-in developers, and of course the webmasters and hosts, who have made it possible to let us gamers have fun with the ps2 games that we so dearly love. I hope they continue to bring us the fruits of their labor.
Their success is the success of every gamer in the world:)

Uhm, you need to own a console and the games to play it, you know? We don't support piracy, but yes, alot of hard work is into it.

Hi all, I'm a new member from France (then, sorry for my broken english), and as a first post, I wanted to thank...
- The devs for their work (I know that it's kinda hard to find time to work as a fan on this kind of project).
- The Testers for their feedbacks making our games working better day after day
- And finally to all the posters for the huge quantity of information I have to read now :)
I forgot CottonVibes for his(her) "guide for the noobs" who made my first try yesterday, a victorious one ! Woowoo !
http://forums.ngemu.com/pcsx2-official-forum/101343-running-pcsx2-guide-noobs.html
I must try to understand now why I have the same (good) performances in 800x600 and 1680x1050... I find it strange that the resolution didn't influence the speed! I read the guides for CPU and GPU but didn't found my answer.
Mkilbride2588
March 26th, 2008, 13:20
Because GPU and CPU can only be stressed so much, you don't have a speed impact because of how powerful your card is. Simple. Cottonvibes is a guy, too, he always has a female picture just to mislead people, I believe, or just to get his jollies off :P
Basically, if you were CPU limited, you might not be GPU limited, so increasing / decreasing resolution has no effect.
Zedleouf
March 26th, 2008, 13:31
Ok, thanks for the answer on this point, I was puzzled with this issue, but it's great to be able to put the maximum resolution anyway :)
The slowness happens only when there is a huge scene with a lot of characters. It's really less then a problem :)

Perfect speed, perfect sound (ok, nearly perfect :) ) no graphic glitches no bugs, but 100% Movies 100% fighting 100% fun.

I saw the update today about your server expenses, and it made me really sad that you guys not only spend so much time and hard work to develop this project, but also have to worry about hosting bills. I can't offer any financial support at this time, but I do want share my very heart felt appreciation for what you do.
Honestly, I enjoy the documentation and posts from you all about your progress equally as much as the program. I'm in no race to run any of the games on my pc, I'm here daily just to see your progress and ingenuity in action.

I have just tested PCSX2 (The latest SVN build) and was blown away. After a few hours of tweaking I was able to run Final Fantasy X on my PC at 250 FPS!!!! Of course I set the limit to 60. Anyway I used tyo play FFX when it first came out. It was my favorite in the FF sereis and still is. I love that II can play it on my PC with a ps2 controller. It brings b ack alot of good times ;) I try not to look at this emulator as a "FREE next gen system" but more of a memory machine. You guys have done an amazing job and I look foward to futre realeses! Keep up the good work and were all here to support you!
Youre welcome. And turn frame limit off when your leveling ;)

I'm sort of new around here but I felt obligated to stop in and say Thank You for this amazing little emulator. I tried playing FF12 a year ago with little to no success, unplayable frame-rate, and frequent crashes. Now, a year later, the game runs perfect and even looks better than it did on the PS2! You guys are making a lot of progress and I have no doubt in my mind that by this time next year you'll have even more games in a playable state.
I'm very grateful for all the work you've done and I hope you guys have an excellent summer.

I can now play ps2 games again, since I don't have my ps2 anymore but I still have my games. ;D
I was really skeptical at first, I highly doubted I could run a ps2 emulator with my specs, let alone at playable speeds! I even get 60fps most of the time! ^^

Hey, just want to put in my thank you note
It's obvious that an enormous amount of collective effort has gone in to making this emulator the fine program that it is today. My PS2 crapped out on me, and I was afraid I'd never finish DQ8. No more worries! Runs flawlessly on my PC.
Thanks so, so much.

Thanks a lot creators! I thought I'd have to shell out $120 for a new PS2, and I just couldn't justify it... now, though, I can play all the games that made me scream with Nintendo-fanboy envy back in the 2002. I'm very surprised to be able to play games at such good speeds (KH at 60+ FPS, Tales of Abyss at 50+ FPS, FFXII at 40-60 FPS), and it's all thanks to the good people who find time to make such an awesome emulator! WOOT!! Thank you guys soooo much!! My PS2 crapped out on me and my friend got me Final Fantasy 12 as a gift. I immediately searched out an emulator and have been trying for months to get one to play this game. After reading various posts about people having problems running various games such as Gran Turismo 4, I finally got all the files I need and settings all correct and now, I am running a backup ISO I made of Final Fantasy 12 at 95-110% emulation! Sound, graphics, load speeds, everything is perfect!!
Thank you soooo much and keep up the good work! :D

I've known the pcsx2 emulator since 2005 and i must say you've made quite a progress first only homebrew elfs were working and then suddenly an update just came out and hurray ^^ first 3d animation on a ps2 emulator (maybe the first i saw XD) a little glitchy ^^ but time after time bugs and glitches have been dealt with and now it runs some games almost perfect ^^(or maybe i don't have the right ones XD)
I think you made an adequate tribute to this truly great console and it's games ^^ :thumb:

I don't have much to say that hasn't been said before. Just upgraded to a computer that can actually be called modern, and before Crysis, before Gears, before anything that requires anything as powerful as this thing to run, I tried PCSX2. Now, thanks to great compatibility, I might not have to try anything else. Thanks for the great emu, guys--looking forward to it becoming even more incredible!

I've been watching this emulator for a couple of years now.
Just yesterday, I heard about a custom binary.
I found it, updated my plugins and drivers, and for the first time since my ps2 broke...
I could play Silent Line - Armored Core at full speed.
I nearly crapped myself.
This program might just be the best thing ever.
I think thanks probably doesn't go far enough.
But thanks anyway.
AWESOME SOFTWARE.
And that's the bottom line.

I'll admit this is an awesome program/plugins as I get around 40 or 50-60/70?fps and don't really notice any lag. I'm kind of a perfectionist though so even with gsdx 0.1.8 I see water pixels and in other small areas but mostly water and everything else seems a-ok. Plus the sound is almost 100% good along with the video plugin but it does skip and when paused in certain places it will continue to do that but over all I give you a++ lol. Decided to test out final fantasy x international for the heck of it on here. :D

WOW!
To Everyone who wonders if the EMU really works: Yes it does.!!!!
It's really cool what you guys have achieved with this emu.
I checked PCSX2 out about two years ago when I bought my 1,7 Ghz Laptop and I was able to achieve about 10 FPS too slow to play and I put the Emu aside.
Now I recently bought a quad core 2,4 ghz PC with 4 GB RAM, 520 MB Nvdia GForce 9600 GT GPU on a Asus 5PQL-E Mainboard.
And I gave the emu another try. I just pulled the latest binary, and the video, audio and Gamepad Pluign from the official site provided the Bios and used "nice" default settings and voila. Tekken 5 launched in Full Screen and in such a playable speed that there is hardly a difference between the Console itself.
I just finished the game with my two favourite characters in about 15 Minutes.
Thats just fantastic.
All I ever wanted was to play tekken 5 on my PC. I just integrated the Emu in my myHTPC system and can play Tekken anytime I want.
Thats so cool.
Keep on the good work guys. :thumb:

The 0.9.6 version will get an photo in my family album!
Why, you ask?
BECAUSE! it rocks all my games now: FF 10 & 12; Suikoden 4 & 5; Everblue 2;
Dark Chronicle; Atelier Iris 1 & 2 (2 works almost perfect and was played through from with full speed!) ; Odin Sphere; Hack Sign: Mutation; Dragonquest 8; Kingdomhearts 1 & 2; Okami; Xenosaga II Jenseits von Gut und Böse;
and now today finally with version 0.9.6! even Star Ocean 3 works!:wub:
well I could kiss all the devs that worked on this version just now... but I think its a little bit late right now (looks to the windows clock and gets blue in his face):???: damn already 2 o'clock here!
Well at least I will say thanks for all the good work and for future work even more!:thumb:

I hadn't been following PS2 emulation for a while. I thought playable PS2 emulation was still years away. But now here I am, playing We Love Katamari on my PC and grinning like an idiot.

Always was sad that such games as Final Fantasy were barely released on PC ( Only the VII and VIII + now Last Remnant ) , looked like those games will be just in a memory, however, because of certain people, we're able to enjoy those beatiful games on PC! Really greater thanks to everybody who worked on the project and plugins. Best wishes for future!
Well said Wolferion, and welcome to the forums :p

Recently getting back into emulation, I decided to give PCSX2 a go since it has come a long way since I last played around with it maybe over a year ago. I cleared the dust off of a few of my old PS2 games and loaded up Kingdom Hearts 2 and FFX. Played beautifully in PCSX2, both to the end. Had to use the beta build for FFX in Al Bhed Home, but that was no biggy.
So here is my official THANK YOU to the PCSX2 team. I can tell this has been a lot of hard work and I'm sure myself and many others are very grateful for the dedication it must take to achieve such an outstanding emulator. For some reason I enjoy playing my old games again, more than I do on my PS2.
Great job, keep up the good work. Again, I give you guys a lot of credit and look forward to future releases!

I have to give the PCSX2 team mad props. First of all as a Computer Science major in college the devs must have mad coding skills to reverse engineer an advanced gaming system.
2 reasons I love PCSX2. First of all being able to play games on my computer means I can clear off the shelf by the tv of my playstation 2 and leave the shelf to be used for the Xbox 360 and PS3 games. I can just dump the PS2 bios and make an image of a few games and then put them in a box and stuff it in the closet out of the way.
Also it is great for when I feel like playing some of my PS2 games and my room mate is hogging the tv and I can't play it on the PS2 or PS3.

I started playing an N64 emu last week and it made me wonder what other emus were available. So google was my friend and gave me a link to the PCSX2 site and this forum,so I came here expecting people to be complaining that it sucks and it's lame and all the other nethead insults, instead I discovered people posting helpful info about how to make games work with it.
So props to you all here on the forum and to the programmers who've given us the benefit of their skills and time.Even if they decide to abandon PCSX2 they have done a great job and I for one am defenitely impressed and grateful that I can now play all those PS2 games I thought consigned to the trashcan of time :D

As someone who suddenly turned up on these forums, asked for a solution to something and got it on the same day, I want to say thank you for being such a generous and nice community (something rather rare these days) - and of course for developing pcsx2, which is utterly brilliant.

On my upgraded computer i was able to achieve full speed in ff12 without any speed hacks and it emulates perfectly i was able to turn on MSAA and turn everything on in gsdx and at a higher resolution of 1800 X 1023 and everything is eye candy from their. Even tho pcsx2 is not a complete emulater its has climbed alot. On higher end machines on max settings ps2 games can be eye candy dependent on the hardware that your runin. FF12 is the game that im currently playing and it looks almost like a ps3 game with everything on max.

Hey, you guys made a well working ps2 emulator right underneath my nose. (I haven't been around here in along time as you can see).
I was messing around with ePSXe for so many years and even yesterday I was still messing with it then I found this! I'm so happy, now I can play DBZ BT3 on my PC in pseudo hi-res. Beats the heck out of my aging PS2 on a 17" Standard-Def TV screen.
In fact, ever since NBA 2K made it's way to the PC market last season DBZ BT3 was the only reason I was still hanging on to my PS2. Now I can finally put it away for good.
AND it works so WELL! Besides some minor sound screeching and stutters, pcsx2 has definitely made tremendous progress, especially when compared with past console emulators.
Simply Amazing!
