Is there a certain CD Drive that can read GD-ROM discs?
I'm asking because, i dont know if any dreamcast emulator can read GD-ROMs disc, but i think it will be cool, because i wanted to upload some dreamcast pictures from my games, but i dont see how, i mean how do people do it?

I don't think there is a CD Drive that can read GD roms but there is a tutorial out there that shows you how to configure your drive so that your drive can read Dreamcast discs but you have to have a certain drive to make it all happen. My advice to to you is if you have a CDI image on your C Drive mount it on a virtual drive like Daemon tools or Alchohol 120% so emulators such as Chankast can read them.

there are some drives that can read them, there is a thread on emutalk about it, but it means ripping a drive to bits and slowing it down manually with your finger, its difficult to get working and not very reliable.

according to Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GD-ROM
it somehow can be done.

yeh there is another method where you hotswap it with a blank 120 minute disc, but again you may not get a full rip of the gd-rom on most drives

those discs are very rare to find.
i only myself now have a handful of 90min discs at the moment, and im afraid on wat to use them for.
i also myself is planning on getting a MSI DR8A drive. probably you lot can figure it out.

Because of actions on his previous account, which got him banned then. Making a duplicate account when your first one is banned is obviously not allowed ;).

and if you have a question like that in the future, PM a staff member. don't make an (obviously) offtopic post.

Well... It is just a guide to back up original games to your PC (apparently) without a guide to rip and burn them in order to use them on a dreamcast so it looks OK to me...

i love the link on his page (http://worldofstuart.excellentcontent.com/ffi/ffi1.htm), it's so stupid. all he did was prove that piracy is not exactly the exact same thing as theft. big deal, it's still illegal. sorry, that whole "essay" or whatever is filled with fallacies and weasel words...

I've read a few articles about the nature of the Dreamcast GD roms and seen a couple of diagrams with discussions of the various hardware, bios, and software differences. I think a normal CD rom can be modded by using a rheostat to vary the voltage to the motor: lower voltage should slow it down and while it may take a bit to workout I think it may be easier than some of the methods I've seen. Any thoughts?
