View Full Version : Is there any way to get GS to work w/ my ancient vid card? (perhaps another plugin?)

Just not working and I assume it's cause my video card is ancient. I've been thinking about getting a new one, but I also plan on getting a new computer around Christmas time, so I perfer to wait till then and pick up a new mobo & vid card using PCI-E, vs the current AGP mobo I have.

My vid card is the old (but still solid) GF4 TI4200.

Is there any way - workaround, another plugin, some setting I missed - that I can get the emulator to work w/ this vid card?

Thanks.

Yeah, use GSdx9 and change pixel shader to 1.1 or 1.4.

That's what I tried... using the default plugins that come with the installer..

GSdx9:

Resolution: Windowed
Renderer: Direct3D
Shader: Pixel Shader 1.1

unchecked everything (including Linear texture filtering)

Kept everything else as default settings....

When I hit "test" for the video settings..:

:'( Pixel Shader version 1.3
:'( Separate Alpha Blend
^_^ Source Blend Factor
^_^ Destination Blend Factor

This plugin reports that should not work correctly.

When I actually execute it, I get a small windowed screen pop up in the middle of my monitor.. then it just goes away. The application has closed itself.

It is not video plugin then, you are probably using VM build, try to run pcsx2t.exe instead.

Interesting, thought I would be able to run under VM mode...

Anyway it gets a little further not under VM mode. The 'test' still says the same thing, but when I execute, I get a little further.

Basically it shows the first 5-10 secs of what you see when you turn on a normal PS2.

The little boxes on the screen w/ the Sony Entertainment logo... then the application closes again.

[edit] Actually I just tried something else. I had been trying to load an image of a game I have and it's been doing what I've described.

I just popped in my actual copy of Xenosasga1 (picked a random game) and tested it... it got further this time.

Previously it basically crashed on the transition from the Sony logo to the "Browser/ System Config" selection screen. This time I get to that screen, but upon enterting Browser I only see two memory cards...

It is something with PCSX2, it should be the best to open a new thread in PCSX2 forum (http://forums.ngemu.com/pcsx2-official-forum/), because this one is for plugins.

Edit: just saw your edit, use file-->Run cd not Run-->Execute.
