I have 2 little problems with Vagrant Story using PSX.he game emulates well, the sound and display is ok.But there's this little blue circle which the character encounters every now and then in the course of playing the game near where you can save.Once I step in the circle,I hear a noise which is normal, once I step out, there is a sound stutter for like 3 secs. Also I'm trying to change the display resolution to windowed at 400x300 at 60 Hz ánd I wanna increase the gamma a little, after I make the changes,I click on apply, but the changes don't reflect.???

Laptop specs.

128MB (dedicated) ATI Radeon Xpress 200M
AMD Turion 64 1.8GHz
1GB RAM
100GB HDD
Latest version of directX
Latest ATI Catalyst drivers

do you want to play it in ePSXe or pSX? you should try to stick to one emulator at first, instead of making two threads and trying to figure it out twice.

I'm actually trying both ePSXe and PSX and having different issues with both

Try to disable Reverb in pSX sound options (Though you won't be hearing any sound when you step on the circle).

Btw: Try to click Ok instead of Apply.

I tried it and first thing I noticed was when the BIOS loads up,no noise and there is no noise in the blue circle like you said and the sounds still skips a little, very little but manageable...Oh well,I guess I'm gonna have to play it like that.I love the game..Oh I wanna ask something unrelated,in the config of PSX,I try limiting my windowed resolution to 400x300 and I click apply and ok but it doesn't work????Pls help.Is there an .ini file I can fiddle with somewhere?

To my knowledge there is no config which will let you choose windowed resolution, you will have to resise window by yourself.

Btw: I played Vagrant Story in PSXeven (and ePSXe also) just fine, I can post my plugin configs if you want.

For sound use Eternal Spu plugin 1.41 with default settings and with buffer size:32.

For video plugin use Pete's OGL2 with this settings:

Plugin: Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.8

Card vendor: ATI Technologies Inc.
GFX card: RADEON 9550 x86/MMX/3DNow!/SSE

Resolution/Color:
- 1280x1024 Fullscreen - NO desktop changing (of course you can use window mode if you preffer)
- Internal X resolution: 1
- Internal Y resolution: 1
- Stretching mode: 0
- Render mode: 2

- Filtering: 0
- Hi-Res textures: 0
- TexWin pixel shader: on
- VRam size: 256 MBytes

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: on
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: Auto

- Mdec filter: on
- Screen filtering: on
- Shader effects: 0/1
- Flicker-fix border size: 2

All is working well besides that rectangle around map, which is missing the left side, i never got that working right.

Hey Shendo I tried Vagrant Story with PSXeven like you suggested and I used Pete's OpenGL2 drivers with the setting you posted earlier and I also used Eternal SPU and the game is perfect, the displays and the sound is amazing. You said your display was missing the rectangle around map at the bottom-left corner of the screen.Mine was there. No display flickering,no sound stutters. It's great!!! Thanks a lot friends.I wanted to ask you something unrelated to this post.I wanna start playing FF7.I have ePSXe,PSX & PSXeven.I wanted to know which you think is the best I should use.I've read around forums a little and it seems FF7 has some issues which can be resolved.Pls could you tell me the best emulator to use and give me the settings I need to play it.I was thinking of using PSXeven for it.What settings can I use? Thanks man.

Ok I tried FF7 with PSXeven. The graphics is great, although there is a flicker during the display transition from one screen to another and the sound slows and stutters once in a while. How can I fix those Shendo?
Also I have a weird problem. In the beginning of FF7 during the Mako reactor mission, when me and Jessie enter the elevator and he tells me to push a yellow button,I walk up to the button and try pushing it,but I get no reaction. And the configs are working????Very weird!!!

Here is hushypushy's FFVII OGL2 config thread (http://forums.ngemu.com/plugin-questions-troubleshooting/45533-ff7-ogl2-configs.html) :).

You can use either PSXeven or ePSXe, it is your choice :), both emu's are very good.

Btw: about that missing rectangle side, this is what i was talking about (look at the bottom right side):

Thanks a lot,I tried it and it works well...I still don't understand your rectangular map display issue cos mine displays well.I wish I could get a screenshot with PSXeven and post it here but I can't find a screenshot button for PSXeven.

Press F8 while running the game to take a snapshot.

Well maybe we have different versions of the game or something.
That rectangle works in pSX 1.8 though... but that is not really a problem, besides that the game works just fine.

Btw: this thread is more for a plugin based emulator than for pSX, maybe someone could move it to some other section.
