I don't know of anyone that has got it running. The fact that the last person that really worked on it stopped a year ago doesn't bode well until someone else steps up to carry it forward.

On the bright side, you do have the ability to use BootCamp to boot into WinXP on that Intel Mac and run CVGS (with the XP patch), ePSX, the Windows version of PCSX, etc. For the time being, that might be the best way to get your Playstation fix on that Mac.

for the moment being, the emulator has no Universal Binary for it to be able to run on an Intel-processored Mac. The emulator also seems not tohave been tested by anyone under Rosetta.

Hi, I've got a black macbook. I dont understand how programming works but I think I can help out who ever is interested by saying how pcsx has worked for me. I have been able to run games on my system so that alone says it is possible even without the universal binary. But thats not to say it was a little choppy. There were several problems with gameplay. I had been monkeying around with the preferences for quite a while to get FFVII going. When it runs I have the dynarec turned off and the Bios turned on (scph1000 and scph1001 nothing else!). It does the opening credits of FFVII fine. You can tell there is some slow up through the music but not unberable it still sounded good. the main menu operated fine and the opening video was choppy. the moment cloud hopped out of the train and I tried to move him, it froze and closed down. Then I tried playing um jammer lammy (the guitar sequel to Parappa the rappa). for the sake of obscurities we'll just call it parappa because it is basically the same game. The opening video was quite slow in sound and video but when the main menu came on the video and music were fine. obviously this is a great game to test the framerate because it is all rythem and timing. Something the emulator didnt have. It wouldn't recognize the input at the right time causing failed levels or whatever. It is not my computer, My friend was playing VII on his comp fine and he has an ibook (60fps, it was beautiful). It is my uneducated conclusion that the program just needs a universal binary. I saw the same kind of symptoms in UT2k4 and when I downloaded the binary everything worked great. So who ever can make a universal binary, OMG do it now I want to play seven again and again!
I hope my info helped whoever is researching this.

Yes, the guy that did the original port to Mac has stated he has a working Intel Mac version, but is finishing it off before releasing it. He posted over at emuscene.com a few days ago about it, so you have something to look forward to!

Thanks for that update. I have to go check out that link and see if it is simply a universal version of the early version or whether it has gained any distance towards parity with the other versions of PCSX.

Oh, and mind the Lanboy/Fanboy troll. ;)

while there is nothing wrong with a hearty PC/Mac argument, it has no place in this thread. this thread is about getting PCSX to run on currently owned hardware, not about what you should or shouldn't buy. so drop it.

Quite right. I thought my post was quite on topic. ;) As is this one...

I headed over to the link you provided but didn't seem to find any additional information regarding whether the new release will simply be Universal Binary or whether it will feature any enhancements/improvements/version parity over the existing release. If anybody knows, please let us know. If not, I suppose we will wait and watch.
