Silent Hill Movie? Your Thoughs?

i have been manly browsing the fan based forum and i woudered what an outside thought about the silent hill movie or anyone on this forum. for me i hope it is good looks good do far from trailer and clips. but who will go and see it here?

It looks alright. But still: movies generally suck nowadays. The only good "new" film I've seen for a while has been Downfall/ Der Untergang.

I may go see it, or maybe I'll just wait until it's been universally panned. :p

Well considering how the Resident Evil film was made which i personally didnt like, I cant have much hope for A Silent Hill movie.

I'm definately going to see it. I think that if this ends up being a bad game-to-movie transition like the many before it, then this will be the last one I see ever. I've seen too many of my favorite games get raped by the film industry. It's sad that we expect game movies to suck, but I guess we have good reason. I hope that this is that one exception.:rolleyes: If not, download it so them bastards won't make any money (jk, before I get warned). It's our fault that they keep making them.

flashes...irrelevent talking...wierd noises...screaming (I think)
it lasted about 20 seconds and didn't tell me anything about the film
it looks ****, according to what the trailer shows, it'll be another typical horror movie, maybe even as bad as white noise...

I dunno anything much about Silent Hill, but it doesn't look like anything based on a video game.

We saw the previews... It appears to be based on the PSOne Silent Hill except they made the male lead character a woman in the movie, but she still seems to interact with the blond female sheriff.

That small change kind of shows that they have already taken liberties in changing. May be a bad sign although we did like how the "faceless ones" look

I saw the movie today and it ****ing sucked.:cuss2: To be honest, it was decent. Better than any other game movie. It wasn't as bad as the other game movies but it is what it is: a game movie. It wasn't even scary at all. The only cool thing about it was pyramid head and the two or three major scenes that he was in. Most of the movie wasn't even action, the action didn't even really start until one hour into the movie, even then, it didn't really push the limits like in the games. To much running and talking and other bull****. Plus there were only like 3 or 4 types of monsters from the games. The story in the movie is mostly true to the game and most of the areas in the movie are in the game as well. There were some cool scenes reminiscent to the games, but overall it sucked IMO. They could have done more with it. If you watch the movie, you'll notice that the parts that are supposed to be scary are too short and leave you hanging wanting to see more. Basically, the coolest parts are what you already seen in the previews and the trailors. So if you are hoping that this game movie is going to be the one that's actually ground breaking, then you'll probably dissapointed.

Yes. Definately. Anything is better than those movies. Could have still been a better movie but others might have a different opinion. Last game movie that I'll ever see though.

I saw the movie last night. It was a pretty good movie. The shrieking deformed babies were freaky. Some of the scenes get very gruesome, much like the games. The scene with Piramid Head at the church was definately gruesome and a bit alarming. Definately not something your kids should see as it might give them a few nightmares. The movie also made good use background music from the actual games. This game to movie was much better than the RE movies. Probably one of the better Horror movies I've seen this year as well. As for the ending.

I think it's debatable, but they definately aren't in the real world anymore. I think they are in purgatory.

I disagree. The storyline and themes explored in Silent Hill 2 are the most adult and challenging I've ever seen in a game. If you saw the DVD that came with the PAL release of the game, you'd get a better insight into the game's meaning.

As I've only completed Silent Hill 2 I'd recommend that. Check my last post for my opinions on it. :p

If you have a PS2, you can get Silent Hills 2, 3 and 4 in the Silent Hill Collection that was just released.

Silent Hill ****ing 3!!! Scariest game ever IMO. You should play Silent Hill first before playing 3 because the story of 3 ties in the most to the first game. Silent Hill 2 has it's own storyline to it, so it's more of a standalone game and you should play 2 before you play 4.

Ya I really want to see this movie, The reviews i'm hearing are bad, but I never really follow reviews. If the previews look good usually I can judge for myself. It definately brought back memories from the first game - which is nice. If it's not Doom I think we're all safe :laugh:

I wanted to play Silent Hill 3 and I was told I to play the first game before I go for this one, and I don't feel like playing the first game. So I am wondering if the movie is so true to the game story that Silent Hill 3 will make more sense after watching it. :heh:
