I know the metal fans here have somewhat taken over the other music thread, however I wanted to start a new one here to start a new discussion.

As some of you may know I create videos when I'm at concerts. Personally I think they're of relatively high quality, especially when compared to some you can find online. I decided to share them, however, I'm not really that experienced with compression and online hosting or setting up torrent trackers, so I decided to do things my way :p

My first video is a 3.25min during video taken from my last concert: Dragonforce 05/03/2006 The size of the file is 25mb. It's a DivX video, with the original sound data.

It's a shot from the song Fury of the Storm, it starts with the guitar solo and lasts till the end. See the readme for additional info.

Any feedback will be more than welcome.

I hope you guys enjoy it :)

Dragonforce - Fury of the Storm / Live from the Netherlands (home.planet.nl/~vos10272/music/Dragonforce 05-03-2006Fury.rar)

ps. I'm using our personal homepage thingie, so I'm limited to 1gb of traffic per month and a 50mb limit for the files :(

Edit 2: Link does NOT work anymore, I took down the file

You could torrent it, if your computer is on all the time.

Cid Highwind
March 23rd, 2006, 13:08
I don't know how to do that, though someone might be able to explain it to me. And my computer usually isn't on all the time, at least not during nighttime when the ones from the states are online. Maybe for other videos I'll use that method :)

Well I've got stuff from Hammerfall, Sonata Arctica, Edguy and Symphorce, haven't seen any of the heavier stuff lately. I did a video.google.com search some time ago and must say it's a great source for metal videos, so you could try that.

Upcoming concerts: Rage & Freedom Call (2nd of April), and Sonata Arctica (April 28 and May 11), so I'll make sure to get some shots from those shows as well.

If funny voices make you laugh, you'll love Dragonforce

I loved it when ZP was doing a really high part of a song, and Sam (lead guitar, black hair) grabbed his own balls. Drunk batard xD

Very cool video, though bass drums were non-existent, but that is understandable. Its just a videocamera mic afterall!
Very nice pic quality and accurate sound compared to some blackmetal live-bootlegs i have: Video compressed to hell and audio nothing but screech distortion.

Here's my contribution. Found it on Google, :p .

Arch Enemy - Nemesis (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5813313488707350282&q=arch+enemy+nemesis)

This song kicks five different varieties of ass.

Rhapsody w/ Christopher Lee - Magic of the Wizard's Dream (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6627942078886512661&q=rhapsody+magic)

I prefer the Italian version.

That and Nightwish, Sleeping Sun. Both versions. =P They've started advertising on their site for a new singer btw.

Oceanborn version (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8000894824204633518&q=sleeping+sun)

Cid i prefer you warp back time and get those Graveworm videos or else...

It's not like 'Vain Glory Opera' doesn't have a cheesy beginning, most ppl would think it's from Europe because it's a complete Final Countdown copy :p

When messing around with the equalizer in winamp you might be able to get some better bass out of it. I once recorded some stuff from Graveworm with my cellphone, it sounds hella funny, you only heard noise, and Stefan's voice on top of that

Great videos industrian. That song by Arch Enemy is awesome, kinda freaky to see a chick 'sing' that way, their drummer is pretty quick with the feet.

Personally I'm not into Nightwish that much, whenever I hear a female sing that high it gets on my nerves and I long for a evil sounding counterpart. And I once heard some live songs of Nightwish and the voice of that guy makes my ears bleed.

I found a nice FMV while doing a search on Dragonland videos: link (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8914530197432058350&q=dragonland) I like this band a lot, I can recommend it if you like fast powermetal with a fantasy theme. Their lyrics are a lot better than Dragonforce's and their music isn't as chaotic and guitarsolo-focused.

I know this is a lazy question from me, but is it true that she was sort of "fired" from the band? That was a bit sad to hear.

Yup, it's true. Tarja was classified as a "guest singer."

The other guys let her go because she started getting greedy or something. It sucks though, she has one HELL of a voice.

Chrono Archangel
March 24th, 2006, 03:05
Indeed....kinda sad... Nightwish was one hell of a band. I just hope they can find someone as good, or better than Tarja.

Cid Highwind
March 24th, 2006, 11:06
Yup she got kicked out of the band, it was said she didn't even travel with the band anymore but she took a seperate plane with her husband. I never got into Nightwish a lot, maybe I'll like their studio work a bit better than live. The only song I really like of them is 'The Beauty and the Beast (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1819774249177396494&q=nightwish)'

Glad to hear you were able to DL it as well Mire :D

March 24th, 2006, 12:12
Heh, I like the guest singer ;)

But the rest of the song was pretty good as well, but Tarja just doesn't have the kind of voice I like, she sounds too much like an opera singer. Just a matter of taste I guess.

Endless Rain - Live (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4305474449693589013&q=x+japan) - aka one of my favourite songs.

Say, to please some of the lovers of the harder stuff, and to motivate some of you guys to see their shows, would it be allowed to link to a concert of Graveworm we recorded through a mike? Please let me know if it can be done in public, or has to be done in secret ;)

Btw, MaZa, I think you know which concert I'm talking about.

/Cid is going to watch the X Japan videos

Edit:

Wow.... endless rain... that video really impressed me, the end of the song really touched me, beautiful song.

But what's with the emotional stuff during Forever Love? Was it a special concert, or has it been written for a special event in one's life? The song starts with a pretty nice drum solo ;)

MaZa
March 25th, 2006, 10:34
Yup, i remember it. It was quite good, except i no longer have it thanks to frigging reformat. I forgot to take backup! :cuss2:

Interesting. This is first time i have seen remastered version of Sleeping Sun. Im not exactly nightwish fan, but sleeping sun is really beautifull ballad. I think they butchered it badly! Tarjas voice isnt even close to her original omnipotent and operatic voice. Why the heck they wanted to try singing in normal female singing voice? Oh well...

MaZa

Here are some.

Dark Funeral - An Apprentice Of Satan, original version. One of my fav norsecore blackmetal songs. Slow breakdown riff, while simple, is really catchy and atmospheric.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9132428497492840380&q=Dark+Funeral

Strapping Young Lad. Braindead trashing to the end. Quite silly actually.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=912243387136540223&q=Strapping+Young+Lad

JIM CARREY IN CANNIBAL CORPSE!!!! I remember the cannibal corpse part in Ace Ventura, but i had no idea that it was supposed to be originally longer. A deleted scene it seems.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4152432685029935586&q=Cannibal+Corpse

Derek Roddy from Hate Eternal (and played in Nile too?), one of most versatile (and my fav) drummers i know.

Jamming in solo. Fantastic cymbal working too.

It's "Command to Charge" by Suidakra. Best album of 2005.

Talking of albums, what is everyone looking forward to in 2006? For me it's:

Suidakra - "Caledonia". A concept album based on Scotland's history. I'm sure they read my mind about this one.
Manowar's new album. Get well soon Karl Logan. "King of Kings" was awesome.
Rick Rubin's Metallica album. I lost all my faith with them as soon as I heard Hetfield say "My lifestyle determines my deathstyle" but ... it's RICK RUBIN!

Tarot have released remasters of their works as well. No more will we be held to ransom on eBay.

So far the only thing I'm looking out for is the release of Sonata Arctica's new live DVD+cd For the sake of Revenge (http://www.nuclearblast.de/band_showa.php?action=disco&artist=682&catid=NB%201618&show=0&id=1254). I already heard some low quality samples at the Nuclear Blast website and Tony's vocals were simply amazing. He even managed to pull off 8th Commandment with a clear voice oO OTOH I also heard some things that didn't sound right to me, but I'll judge that later when I have the whole dvd.

Hey guys, here's another release by yours truly.

This time it's the other video taken from the Dragonforce gig, from the song Operation Ground and Pound. Be sure to check it for the screams of their new bassist Fred (Frédéric) cause they certainly add something to the songs, and it just looks kickass seeing him doing em.

It only shows till halfway of the solo, sorry bout that, I can give you my paypal account if you want to donate for a larger memorystick :p

With this video I dedided to compress audio as well, because it took up a rather large chunk of the total file, don't worry, you won't notice any difference in terms of audio. This way this video is only 800kb larger than the previous one, while the original video was more than 30MB larger than the first one.

Dragonforce - Operation Ground and Pound (home.planet.nl/~vos10272/music/Dragonforce 05-03-2006Operation.rar)
Total filesize: 25MB
Playing time: 5 minutes, 7 seconds

Enjoy :guitar:

ps. First video has been taken down, this one will be up untill Sunday for sure, expect a video from the Rage & Freedom Call concert next week ;)

ps2(ugh). This one has been taken down as well, as the Rage video is currently online.

industrian, i'd have to say my favorite rammstein video is Ich Will, that was a directorial masterpiece. second place goes to Keine Lust (FAT GUYS?!) and third is the new one, Mann Gegen Mann (nekkid dudes!). that family values 98 Buch Dich is great too, my friend had the DVD, i used to watch it all the time in middle school :p

i feel really out of place in this thread, because i am a huge metalhead, but i dont like any of the stuff you guys do. ill list my favorite bands (in no order)

death metal:
necrophagist
decapitated
cannibal corpse
dying fetus
exhumed
aborted
brujeria
morbid angel
opeth

"metal" (i dont know how to classify it, i call it "normal" metal)
pantera
rammstein
metallica (in the 90s)
dope
fear factory
static-x
meshuggah
gardenian
sepultura/soulfly

thrash
slayer
metallica (80s)
megadeth
anthrax
pig destroyer (well this isnt really thrash, it's grindcore, but i dont have a seperate grindcore section)

andddd there's probably more in there somewhere. i dunno, i know im a metalhead (and stoner rock fiend, kyuss et al, i love josh homme...and jpop nutcase, heh) but you guys are way different than me :p ah yes, metal means something else to everyone, that's why it's awesome.

Most stuff we talk about is the fast powermetal stuff, indeed a bit different than the bands you listed Hushy. Ah well, I'll try to make a video of Rage this Sunday, seeing how you like Metallica I think you will like Rage as well.

Check their webpage (http://www.rage-on.de/) (media tab) for some downloads. Flesh and Blood is a very good song of theirs, it's live as well. For me it doesn't work right in Firefox, so you might have to use IE (there's a handy plugin for those sites as well)

I can't wait for sunday, I'm willing to bet there will be nothing left of my voice the other day, some songs really touch me because of some past events so I'll probably be screaming along, Stefan Fiore style

Another recommended song of their page is War of Worlds.

Heh, that reminds me of Stemage's project, Metroid Metal.

His older stuff is mediocre at best, but he really seems to improve as he does more songs. Here's three of my favorite works:

Super Metroid - Maridia theme. (http://www.chunkstyle.net/mm/sm/supermetroid_maridia.mp3)

Super Metroid - Boss Medly (http://www.chunkstyle.net/mm/sm/supermetroid_bossmedley.mp3)

The gig ROCKED :D

We got to talk with the guys of Freedom Call, took some nice pictures (http://forums.ngemu.com/943406-post1989.html) and got two signed posters, one for a friend of mine who couldn't come that night. I don't know if they played Farewell, I don't know each and every song by heart yet. Also I made 2 videos that night, I filmed Land of the Light completely, and I managed to get a very large part of Rage's new song Innocent.

At this moment I'm sitting here with my voice in ruins and a sore neck.

Freedom had a very good show, a good mix between old and new songs. They kicked off with Warriors :D Too bad I didn't hear Fairyland, Holy Knight and Graceland, those are my favs. They were really enthusiastic on stage, at a point we decided to start shouting FREEDOM CALL, FREEDOM CALL when the songs were over. The second time we did that a large part of the audience joined us and the band stood there speechless ^^ I think they enjoyed it just as much as we did, when I talked to the singer after the show he thanked us as well. Seriously, these guys simply put a happy smile on my face.

After Freedom Call it was time for Rage, I think there was about half an hour or maybe even longer between the two bands. So we had to be patient, they still had to do a soundcheck. First thing I noticed was that the volume got turned a bit higher, almost a bit too high for my liking. Rage had a very impressive show, they didn't play a lot of the live album of theirs, so I didn't know a lot of the songs. However they did play Innocent, Down, War of Worlds and Don't you Fear the Winter. The solo's were awesome as well. Can't go wrong with "the world's most sexiest drummer, Mike 'the troll' Terrana. Man can that guy drum, you ain't seen nothing till you've seen this guy. The same goes for their guitarist Victor Smolski. The first guitar solo made my mouth drop till my knees. Vocals were very good as well. When they went off stage the audience started singing 'Higher than the Sky', so of course they returned to play that one as well. This is one night to remember. Another good thing was that it wasn't overcrowded, you could easily get yourself a new beer and return to your former spot.

Here are two pictures from the show, I will upload a new video this night. So anyone who wants to get the Dragonforce video get it while you can. Btw, I think I'll encode the Freedom Call video at a slightly higher rate, I promised the new guitarist to send him an email with a link to the video. Maybe they'll put in on their website :)

If you go their website, in the bottom corner is an audio player with an Launch Jukebox function. If you click that you can listen to high or low quality tracks of ALL their songs. What other bands do that?

Personally I recommend:

Hysteria, Stockholm Syndrome, Falling Away With You, Plug In Baby, Fillip, Unintended, Muscle Museum, Thoughts of a Dying Atheist and The Small Print.

This has shocked me that such a big band like Muse is offering their music free on their website. Great stuff.

Since the speakers I'm using right now are the "height of s**te" (as in: not my GigaWorks) I can't really tell how good EAX configs are. :(

Which is a shame, because the below EAX option (it's really obvious) does sound like it kicks ass in all my music.

Hey, I rather like this setting. I remember trying it out earlier and changing back to standard for some reason, but I can't remember why. I think it was because I was getting bass overload or something (I have a ***** subwoofer). However I since downed the overall volume, so it's good now. I'll keep it.

Since I've just started listening to a lot of music nowadays (read: I'm spending time indoors) I've realised how much I miss my speakers (http://uk.europe.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=4&subcategory=113&product=9306). I'm gonna hook them back up the next time I get to my parent's house, put on Tanz Mit Laibach (http://youtube.com/watch?v=-zSRcFxZVAA) and pump the volume through the roof.

My soundcard just makes any other set of speakers sound crap. Might get these (http://uk.europe.creative.com/products/product.asp?product=124) for my house in Glasgow. Lighter to carry than seven speakers and I'm willing to bet it's subwoofer is smaller than a 19" CRT.

BTW: For preservational purposes, you can find one of Cid's videos (Operation Ground and Pound) here (http://www.rpgdesign.com/cid/Dragonforce 05-03-2006Operation.rar). If he puts up the first DragonForce video again then I'll grab it and do the same. I've paid for my bandwidth, might as well use it.

I think you have newer drivers or that I can not use it with my soundcard, because I never encountered those options. I do however use the Heavy Metal presettings in the Graphics Equalizer menu, also I put up the first two sliders. I can not understand why a lot of metal settings have the low frequencies cut down, I prefer to feel the bass and bass drum.

Btw, it's great to see you're storing my videos over there :D Will you put up the current video as well? (the one of Rage) Because this weekend I will take it down and upload the video of Freedom Call.

Get the Rage video here (http://www.rpgdesign.com/cid/Rage-Innocent.rar).

I love my university connection. 1MB download and around 500KB upload speeds to/ from a usb pendrive.

:D

As you might have noticed, I don't have access to the internet from my house. So get the video up by Monday and I'll upload it. I don't think I have your original DragonForce video at home, so I might need that one again (if you want me to make a total archive of your stuff.)

I can not understand why a lot of metal settings have the low frequencies cut down, I prefer to feel the bass and bass drum.

From what I could make out from my sh**ty speakers (except from the hissing) the sound was very clean when using the Heavy Metal option. I don't really like hearing a loud bass noise because with my subwoofer it's hella loud. I get self-concious about it and fear getting told to "turn down that noise." Damn parents (and my dad's one to talk, as he used to open his windows and share his Black Sabbath records with his neighbourhood when he was my age :p .)

And about that config, I think it may be due to what EAX your card supports. Mines is an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro, so it does everything except make me coffee. :p

Cid Highwind
April 7th, 2006, 19:10
I know what you mean, I get the same problem with the bass as well, but I don't have a true subwoofer here so that might make a difference. I play my music on some small el cheapo 2.1 speakers (putting them inside my desk does help :heh: ) and my stereo. Everything is connected through the normal audio out jack.

And yes, there's nothing like letting the whole neighbourhood know you have a new cd

Will it work if you have everything connected through the normal analog audio out?

MaZa
April 8th, 2006, 12:55
Pro Logic IS analog thingy. It hides surround-signal to normal stereo output which Prologic chip picks up and plays in rear channels. Rear channels are in Mono though, but with the help of front speakers, it makes it feel like they are in stereo. With games with surround sounds, that is. Music is simply spatialised to rear speakers. Pro Logic and Pro Logic Enhanced are not very good sounding, but i heard that Pro Logic II does some incredible job with music aswell.

BTW, what kind of music system you all have and what are your opinions of it?
Im using Audigy 2 -> Yamaha RX-V480 Prologic Amplifier -> AKG K 240 Studio headphones

Audigy 2 has a huge frequency drop in high treble, so i am saving for SB x-Fi card which has almost line-straight frequency responce. Yes, i am an Audiophile. :p

My headphones, while great sounding, are also bit too slow and warm for Metal, (they are more grooving Jazz cans) so i am going to get either Sennheiser HD595 which i is great headphone for metal or so i heard. Either that or Beyerdynamic DT990.

Damn I love that song, too bad good metal is really hard to come by around here (though I did once stumble upon HammerFall's Chapter V not too long ago). I can't wait til I transfer to another university in a few years, in a city that has an HMV and a decent CDplus. The CDplus here is merely a tiny shop and anything not mainstream or "popular" has to be ordered in. Hell, it took FOUR months after I ordered them for Blind Guardian's A Night at the Opera and Iced Earth's Something Wicked this way Comes to get here.

yeah, it's exactly the same. i always use the digital out though, even for games that dont support it (which is nearly every game), just because the digital output just sounds much much better (it is VERY noticeable).

anyway, i havent heard the old Pro Logic, but PLII is amazing. i have never, ever been a fan of upmixing anything. CMSS and EAX always pissed me off, i could never stand ANY setting that either of them had. PLII though is very very cool. game mode is nice and it surprisingly seems to work (you can hear sounds all around you! in MGS:TS on gamecube, when otacon is supposedly behind the camera talking to you, it actually went to the back left speaker and then as he walked past, it moved to the front. it works) but sounds like **** for music. music mode is horrible for games, but is amazing for music. one night a friend and i sat back, high as ballz, put on a big stream of music videos, that was pretty awesome.

although, i dont know if i could listen to PLII every single second. its cool, but a lot of the time you want regular old stereo sound. that's how i feel about 5.1 mixes...i have Mudvayne's "Dig" DVD in 5.1, Rammstein's Rosenrot, and NIN's downward spiral all in 5.1, they are pretty rad but i dont know if i always want to hear that kind of head trip.

PS. i cant believe i forgot to mention Necrophagist earlier!!!!!! they are amazing. if anyone is in the bay area and is going to see them at The Pound on may 12.....let me know. myself and a bunch of friends are going, its gonna be badass.

Hushy: I doubt the PLII will have effect the way I set up my audio stuff, I can't imagine it creating a 3d effect when I have 2 independant stereo sets of speakers set up in front of me. It's already hard to notice a stereo effect at my place. (doesn't mean it doesn't sound good though)

Same. I only use the CMSS feature for "stereo surround" when listening to mp3s and playing games. Why have 2 speakers when you can use 7?

And yeah, any game with surround sound rules. The first time I played Call of Duty with my GigaWorks was sweet. The Russian levels were simply awesome.

One thing about Pro Logic 2 though. I'm playing Onimusha 3 right now through my PC (Dscaler and digital audio cable into my soundcard) and sometimes the audio just cuts off for a few seconds then returns. Is this because of the Pro Logic signal on my craptacular speakers I'm using right now? (as i never had problems with my other speakers.)

Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro > GigaWorks S750 (at parent's house, i use tinny 2.0s right now) > (when told to turn it down) Sony Fontopia headphones.

:p Lol, I spent £260 on speakers, don't blame me for getting average headphones. My next PC will have a X-Fi Elite Pro (or whatever Creative's flagship product is when I get my next PC) but I'm not an audiophile. I'm just a guy who wants the best possible thing inside and outside his PC. :D

Hey has anyone listened to Sepultura's latest album? It's called Dante XXI...
Am I the only one that think it's pure crap compared to their old stuff like Arise or Beath The Remains?

IMO all their albums after Chaos A.D. were mediocre. That album just totally owned everything.

yeah hell fire club is by FAR Edguy's best album, that's what I expected with rocket ride. I like their little jokes and I agree the stuff on the web site is awesome to read. just hope they do something more like hell fire next...
Indeed, I found it very disappointing when I first listened to it, the only song that I liked was Rocket Ride because it seemed to be the only one at a decent pace. They didn't even play it live :( And Trinidad is the lamest song I've ever heard, the lyrics are just ****ty, at least Lavatory Love Machine was funny, so is F\/cking with Fire (great song  )

Nothing of the album comes close to the pure power of Mysteria, the really catchy guitar riffs of Rise of the Morning Glory and the very good ballad, forgot its name. Hellfire Club doesn't have any weak songs at all. I consider it a step forward from their 'old style', which wasn't bad to start with, though the song Vain Glory Opera still reminds me of Europe xD

Er...

The speakers are built for opera though (imo). Get a big room, spread all seven speakers well and then put on Ride of the Valkyries. It has to be heard to be believed. Well, that and Manowar. Nothing beats that sort of party.

uh, that's not true. it's always been mostly James and Lars (and Dave Mustaine at the way beginning) who wrote the basic foundations for the songs, and Kirk and Cliff came in to add stuff. it's true that Cliff had more input than Jason did....but saying that cliff wrote most of the songs is very far from the truth.

in fact, i just went and checked the booklets in the CDs. cliff isn't credited on anything on kill em all, he is for a lot of ride the lightning, and for a couple things on puppets. was he involved on every song? definitely. did he write most of them? no way.

metallica changed after cliff, but they were still badass. come on, and justice for all is one of the heaviest albums ever, and self titled (black album) is totally amazing. load did not get the credit it deserved--it is very cool. reload starts off with 4 good tracks then sucks. st. anger would've been awesome had the post production and lyrical content not been some of the worst ever. even their post cliff "garage" stuff had a lot of really cool tracks.

yeah, metallica lost their thrash status. hell, i'm listening to ride the lightning right now (coincidentally). i love old metallica. but post cliff ain't bad either, in fact i think it's fantastic.

Scroll down and it's there. That site also has some other (sometimes LMAO) articles.

BTW, in an effort for me to get more people into Suidakra, aka THE BEST F**KIN' METAL BAND IN THE WORLD TODAY, I've put up two mp3s. They'll be removed shortly.

After listening to them, go here (http://www.suidakra.com) and buy their CDs or listen to more of their tracks. When their next album is out, I'm going to Germany (or wherever) to see them live. If they can recreate the sheer awesomeness of their studio tracks live, then there's no reason why they can't ride the waves of hell live.

Sorry, i didnt mean 'write' as doing whole songs himself. I meant that it was Cliff who influenced the style how they played. There was a quite long biography about it in some Garage Inc disk IIRC. After his death, everything changed, even style. Justice for all album is decent. Nothing major, and bit boring on some parts IMHO, but worthy 'in memory of' album for Cliff.

man, you are a humongous Cliff Burton fan aren't you?

Metallica grew up, they changed. i think they changed into something badass, i love the newsted era of metallica.

it's like Slayer. they were a crazy 80s thrash band, but when the 90s swung around (especially around the time of Divine Intervention, Diabolus in Musica, and God Hates us All...ok that's 2001 but it still counts) they got a lot heavier. so do you not like new Slayer just because they changed? i think new Slayer is amazing. my favorite two slayer albums are Reign in Blood and God Hates Us All. just because the style changed, doesnt mean there's any reason not to like them.

No, i simply dont like the direction Metallica headed after Cliffs death. Newsted era was listenable up to the Black Album. However music in Black Album was a huge drop in quality. Totally Souless.. Still decent, but gimme Kill 'Em All anyday. Load and Reload, ugh. ST. Anger... horrible. Grew up? I dunno, i leave that subject to others. I have to admit though, i really like Unforgiven and Unforgiven II songs. But thats it.

I have nothing against changing unless it is to the worse.
Slayer did change quite a bit. I never got into Slayer anyway, new or old but there are fantastic songs in both era. Bloodline and Disciple on new era, Angel Of Death and Spirit In Black of old... Fantastic.

Megadeth did also change, but they had same spirit thru their era. Mustaine managed to, where Metallica failed, change without losing quality at all.

St. Anger sucked. Any metal fan with a different opinion of that needs to have his (or her) forehead introduced to the nearest pavement.:p

Hetfield's voice is totally f***ed. At the Download Festival in Glasgow a few years back he just sounded awful.

Metallica's creative peak was "...And Justice For All." That album was simply incredible. The quality was crap with the clicky drums and non-existant bass and all, but the musical and lyrical qualities were awesome. It was more progressive metal than thrash metal. Then came Metallica's commercial peak, the Black Album. It sounded clean, had simplistic riffs and no progressive interludes like on Justice. Plus, they were using Bon Jovi's producer. The Black Album does still rock in it's own right, but after that album, and the massive tour that followed, Metallica were never the same.

Still, Load and ReLoad were much better than St. Anger.

BTW, to get back to the sharing. Here's the video of the David Shankle Group song "Calling all Heroes." Quite a moving one. It's on their website but the download speed from it is terrible, so I moved it to my host.

Plus, the S&M versions of the Load songs are better. Outlaw Torn and Hero of the Day just sound freaking EPIC. In fact *listens (http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/1336/listen5xh.jpg)*.

Load is one of those albums that was rated against the artist's previous releases more than it was rated on it's own merit. Load is inferior to their previous stuff. And with Metallica doing Lollapalooza, cutting their hair, and other sell-out-accusation bait they just were never going to get any respect from it.

And finding other artists that sound like my favourite bands ... is hard. I mean, take Laibach for example. The only groups that come close are H.E.R.R. and Von Thronstahl. The irony here being is that I actually discovered Laibach in 2002 looking for bands that sounded like Rammstein. :p And finding other bands that sound like Manowar either results in one of two endgames: me ROFLMAO or me going back to "Kings of Metal." :D

I'm yet to understand the Kurt Cobain thing. If anything I believe he lowered the standarts of music by far, he did he have some cool sounding riffs, yes I give him that(not really a high number for me but whatever), but his stuff is thing you would teach a guitar player that just started, yet he gets praised as if he were playing for 2000 years and jesus tought him. I think that's why it bothers me so much.

hushypushy
April 16th, 2006, 18:32
well i also like him because of his singing too, that's a big up in that category. i believe he created a lot of powerful songs. it's not just the notes he played, it's the way he played them. it's the time he played them; the grunge revolution. he never made anything super complex and amazing, he wasn't out there writing Dragonforce solos or anything like that. but he made simple (and i mean WAY SIMPLE) riffs sound amazing, both on the album and unplugged.

i have a lot of respect for bands that can take simple riffs and make them sound good. punk bands use easy riffs, but they sound like crap. Nirvana and system of a down (from steal this album and earlier only) are two good examples. their songs are very easy to play on guitar yet they still have a lot of depth and emotion.

especially the emotion. man, i love to hear emotion coming through the music, and Kurt does that to me. and it helps that i am big into grunge/stoner rock, too. i like that feeling that you know a human being is playing guitar, ya know? my favorite guitar solo is We Will Rock You...the way Brian May wails on that solo....man.

SOAD is nu-metal, the only nu age band I can really stand.

About the Cobain thing, I just wish people wouldn't praise him (I honestly think people do it because he died and they feel wrong if they don't say what the media said about him) as a guitar player, a song writer? okay sure. I mean being put in front of clapton as a guitar player on VH1 (not that they did the top 100 metal things right either) is just wrong. I also see clapton as more of a song writer than a guitar player though.

PS. Thanks for not flipping out when I said what I said, people just wing out when I say how I feel about dead people. haha

That's also one of the reasons why I can't be arsed to take a closer look at the band, I just feel I won't fit in with the fanboys :p

My favourite guitarists are: Hammett (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirk_Hammett) (wah-wah pedal addict :D), Ian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Ian), Vai (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Vai), Bettencourt (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuno_Bettencourt), Shankle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Shankle), Kruspe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Kruspe-Bernstein) (the guy just looks badass), Bradfield (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Dean_Bradfield) (Motorcycle Emptiness = greatest riff ever) and Rhoads (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Rhoads) (Man, he KICKED ASS.)

As for Nirvana. My favourite Nirvana song is "About a Girl." Typical reaction from a "Nirvana fan" when that song is mentioned is just a weird empty gaze. I F**KING HATE the hollow "I HAVE A PICTURE OF COBAIN ON MY WALL, I'M SO COOL!!" types. Maybe that's why I don't like Cobain, I'm not sure. Gotta admit, the Unplugged CD was awesome.

As for my favourite guitarists list, check out this video (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2781148746401814184) of Nuno Bettencourt and his old Extreme buddies jamming and playing "More Than Words." (Well, he's jamming until about 5 minutes though.) Check out "Pornographitti (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extreme_II:_Pornograffiti)" if you need further proof of Bettencourt's skill. The intro to "He-Man Woman Hater" is freaking AWESOME.

i like Cobain a lot in ways i can't describe. i like his playing, his singing, his style. i love the man. i love his journal--i love reading his stupid crap where he drew pics of him, dave, and kris on T-Shirts and wrote stuff like "new nirvana shirts! don't buy this ****!"

by the way, dont say SOD. that's Stormtroopers of Death (who arent bad either..). SOAD is system of a down. and like i said, pre-Steal This Album. Mezmerize is very cool, but it's not old soad at all (i seem to remember this discussion with, hmm, LOAD AND METALLICA only like a day ago..). i can safely say i enjoy Mezmerize a lot. however, Hyponotize has a couple redeeming songs, and it sucks. i have all their other albums (multiple versions of each one, because i was a soad freak, i was even in a soad cover band), but i refuse to buy hypnotize. it's not worth it.

i dont get why people dont like music because of fanboys. isnt it the MUSIC and the MEMBERS of the band you like? i love system of a down, and i love the members. i hate system of a down fans. here in california (where soad is from) it's atrocious. i love metallica a lot. i hate metallica fans (especially the "post 87 sux" group..grrr).

and keep in mind folks, i said "favorite" guitarists. i didnt say "best". i'm pretty sure Eric Clapton is a "better" guitarist than, say Daron Malakian (of SOAD), but do i necessarily like him better? hey, i love clapton, but i really groove to SOAD.

SOAD's new stuff i think is pretty bad. i think its a little TOO much of a change from the old nd good system of a down i used to love. First album is deffinatly the best. im sorta stuck on whos second best ( steal this album or toxicity). i just think daron sung a little too much, even though he basically started the band, system of a down was still way better when serj took up all of the vocals. songs like needles nd others sound alright with that little hint of daron but there new stuff is friggen daron overkill.

Toxicity is always gonna be the height of SoaD. Their double album produced some good stuff (Holy Mountains, Kill Rock 'N Roll, B.Y.O.B., Revenga, Violent Pornography, Sad Statue, Soldier Side...) but nothing compares to the genius of Chop Suey!, Deer Dance or Atwa.

and keep in mind folks, i said "favorite" guitarists. i didnt say "best". i'm pretty sure Eric Clapton is a "better" guitarist than, say Daron Malakian (of SOAD), but do i necessarily like him better? hey, i love clapton, but i really groove to SOAD.

No s**t. Obviously Mr. Clapton is some sort of lesser demon on the 6-string, but when it comes to appropriate riffage, James Hetfield does the damage (well, before 2003 he did.)

I've been listening to ReLoad for a few hours. Fuel & The Memory Remains = some sort of godly double team.

FORTUNE, FAME, MIRROR-VAIN, GONE INSANE...

i think self titled was their best, then steal this album second, then toxicity. it's close though, i love all three. back in the day i remember sitting down with my guitar and literally playing the entire album all the way through. good times.

nowadays, it is way too much daron. he's cool for flavor, but other than that, it pisses me off. Serj has a great voice, HE SHOULD SING. damn. the unmastered version of Steal This Album is fantastic--it doesnt have any overlapped guitar, and no daron vocals.

industrian: first 4 tracks of Reload rock. i cant stand the rest of the tracks. they should've just merged the last 9 tracks into one, because they all sound the same anyway :p

Low Man's Lyric (well, a midi of Low Man's Lyric) helped me to get into Metallica's music back in 98/99. I like that song the best outta ReLoad. One of my old friends could play that (and "One" on the bagpipes.)

My favourite Metallica song still is "Disposable Heroes" though. Nothing beats it... but Enter Sandman comes close.

Toxicity (chop suey!, needles, bounce, ATWA zomg, and Aerials. ah, Pshycho too) and the first album (Suggestions and Spiders). And maybe that "Steal This Album!" (Innervision, Bubbles and Roulette).

Yep, I mentioned apocalyptica cause I was saying about metallica... But have you listened to The Angry String Orchestra? They made a lot of covers of metallica, but it does not have the same quality that Apocaliptica has imo.

Btw industrian, have you listened to Apocalyptica already? :)

I've heard of them, but none of their stuff. I know that they started off as a string tribute to Metallica.

Hushy, the fact that there are so many of those 'omg I'm depressed gotta cut myself with nirvana on the background' kids listening to their music just makes me turn away from it. Not saying it's bad music, but I just never got to the point of where I'd get myself an album and start listening, like I have with so many other bands.

I own every Nirvana album with the exception of Nevermind. It's not that it's a bad album (on the contrary, it has a couple of awesome songs on it) but it's just that when I lived with two 16 year old girls a few years back (before anyone says anything I want to state for the record that it was the least erotic thing ever - I was more their "dad" than anything else) they were both "Nirvana fans." As in: they had posters of Kurt on their walls, they listened to their two "favourite bands" (Nirvana and Avril Lavigne) constantly and generally spoke about how they "loved" Kurt.

Then when I sat down one day and listened to Bleach and In Utero, they didn't even know WHO I WAS LISTENING TO. I mean, WTF. I just knew that if I had both owned a copy of and listened to Nevermind, then they would think I am "one of them." You know, the kind of people who wear Nirvana hoodies along with "Simple Plan" t-shirts. Or the kind of people who bought Bleach because there was a "this was Nirvana's first album" sticker on it and then were DISAPPOINTED that there was no Smells Like Teen Spirit on it. ARGH!!!

Then again I'm not a Nirvana fan. If you want real fireworks then put a true Nirvana fan in the same room as a poser and put on Smells Like Teen Spirit. Best contact sport you can get. :D

ehhh, i am so weary of string bands. they all suck. there are string tributes to everything these days.

You know there are too many string tribute bands when Manowar has a few. Imagine "Hail & Kill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RG1Bo5DfWlY)" only using strings ... ... ... wait a sec, that sounds AWESOME.

every tribute band sucks. sure there are some good songs, but by and large, they all piss me off.[

there's a difference between playing covers, and being a tribute band/releasing a tribute album.

I don't mind "tribute complimations" but really, they are just awful imitations for the most part. And whoever green-lighted this (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007PALXO/sr=8-16/qid=1145296528/ref=sr_1_16/104-5345843-0657541?%5Fencoding=UTF8) deserves to be shot.

BTW: Laibach arguably are a cover band. They have covered Live is Life, One Vision, Final Countdown, Jesus Christ Superstar, In The Army Now, Sympathy for the Devil, etc and the ENTIRE "Let It Be (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000003Z5T/ref=sr_11_1/104-5345843-0657541?%5Fencoding=UTF8)" album (sans the title track and adding a new "Maggie Mae.") But their way of playing those songs, enhancing them where it could be and converting it to their own musical style is extremely remarkable and is used (in some places) to unveil really subversive stuff in the songs themselves. Go and listen to "Geburt Einer Nation" and you'll understand.

To add to that point: anyone who just covers something and doesn't add their own sound or "charm" to it is just an arsehole. Johnny Cash at least added his own image to "Hurt", so he gets two thumbs up from me.

man, i worship tool.

I never would have guessed it. ;) I've never listened to Tool. Ever.

And Mire, you selected a couple of nice covers, have you also heard how Graveworm covered Losing my Religion by R.E.M. ? That cover is brilliant. I once put it on when my mom was in my room:

During the intro: "Oh this ain't too bad"

Here's one old release of mine, to celebrate the fact that I'll be seeing these gods again the 28th of April and the 11th of May. This video was actually the first one I made at a concert, also my position wasn't that good, as I stood in the middle of the crowd in the front. But I must say that it was the best concert I have ever been to, even better than the Dragonforce gig and my previous one with Rage and Freedom Call. Symphorce really knows how to start a party, so expect to see a video of theirs as well very soonish. Meanwhile, enjoy this release,

Cheers,

Cid H.

I hope you guys enjoy it, and with two concerts of them coming up, I'll be sure to make some more videos. This time I'm not gonna waste space on other bands. Anyone ever heard of Doro? I know that Altaria is Jani's old band.

Sonata Arctica - Weballergy (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7183713388156726081&q=sonata+arctica&pl=true): A good example of how Tony used to sing back in 2001, just take a look at the Tavastia gig and you can see how much progress they have made over the years. Great song nonetheless. :)

Sonata Arctica - Black Sheep (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5135624515459291279&q=sonata+arctica&pl=true): That solo ROCKS, it really shows Jani's shredding skills :)

Sonata Arctica - Misplaced (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1728814654642348337&q=sonata+arctica&pl=true): I just watched this video, and it's from exactly the same show as my own video, the biggest difference being her crapass sound quality, it really made me appreciate my own camera again. She had a better position though, lucky biatch >_<

Sonata Arctica live at Tavastia (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7680783903760731245&q=sonata+arctica&pl=true) The best video I have seen of the guys so far. I ripped all the music from that video, want me to upload it? :innocent:

That show kicked major arse :D

We missed out on Altaria because of being slightly late, but we did get to see Doro, and by the looks of it we were 20 years late for her :p

Doro wasn't anything special, after having seen Symphorce for support for Sonata this was one big disappointment. Just plain hardrock/heavy metal with a female vocalist. Not my glass of beer....

After a while Sonata finally appeared on stage. Kickin' off with Misplaced of course. I'll put up a full review later, on my blog, cause I'm really a bit too tired to write everything fully detailed. I'll also include some stuff on the trip, about some white chicks, great fickingflesh, but other than that not worth much

I managed to make a video, even though filming and making pictures wasn't allowed. I can tell you, I went thru hell... That medly took longer than I expected, about 9 minutes oO The video is unfortunately the worst one I made so far. Sound quality is pretty good, but everything is really shaky and out of focus because of standing in the back of the place. On top of that it's going to take a while to download for 56k because it's almost 10 minutes long.

The Medley

We made time for some songs we don't usually play. Or just 10 minutes of jerking off like Henkka like to say.

Well guys, last night was a freakin good show! Me and Nev we're at The Medley to see DragonForce (ohh and I really think he's trying to avoid me :S... never saw hime there >_<)

Aniway, the show had its ups and downs. Icewind opened up the show... the potential is there but my god the sound was horrible. They really need to hire some professionnal sound techs...

Sanctity (http://www.myspace.com/sanctity) followed. Not the best, but liked it. Vocals were abit borderline... but great riffs.

Now the disaster of this show was Protest The Hero (http://www.myspace.com/protestthehero). Stupid Punk/Metal ****.... (The guitarist and bassist are insane....but it doesnt make up for the crap they do...) People were chanting "DragonForce" during their songs. They got booed and all.
Basicly it pissed everyone off.

DragonForce took a while to get on stage... seemed like an eternity. But man were they good! Hermann nailed almost to perfection most of his solos. At one point they (Herman, Sam and Fred) played each others instruments (hard to explain, i hope Nev took some pics :P)
For "Through Fire and Flames" the singer split the room in half and when the song started, everyone collided to make a huge mosh pit.... Insane :)
We also got an insane keyboard solo (which you can find on Google Video)

Aniway, one of the best shows ive seen. Beats Arch Enemy any day (saw them the day before. It was good, but no where near DragonForce's performance)

Cool to hear your story Chrono :D

I still remember that insane solo as well, did they play the Simpsons tune in it as well? These guys are definately a class of their own. A couple of questions though:

- How drunk was Sam?
- How were the vocals?

Here (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5943562866894667315&q=dragonforce&pl=true) you can find that insane video. I love the shredding part by Herman that ends by holding his guitar high by the tremolo.

lol, look what I found about Dragonforce:

- Little does everyone know, Dragonforce was the first metal band. Before Dragonforce, there was no metal. In fact, before Dragonforce, men lived in caves and hunted their prey.

- There are two types of metal: nu metal, and Dragonforce.

- A new study conducted by professors at Harvard University shows that Dragonforce is the only band worth listening to.

- During a show, Dragonforce once played so fast, the sound waves from the speakers ripped the skin off their fans.

- At another show, Dragonforce played so fast, they broke the speed of light, traveled back in time, and ripped a hole in the Titanic, causing it to sink. So now, before shows, Dragonforce's manager injects them with horse tranquilizer which dramatically slows them down in order to avoid such tragedies from occuring again.

- The originators of Sonic the Hedgehog got the idea for the name of the character from the second Dragonforce album, Sonic Firestorm. How this was done before Dragonforce ever formed has yet to be determined.

- When someone who hasn't heard Dragonforce asks you what they sound like, just tell them that Dragonforce is like Manowar (minus the loin-cloths and assless chaps, they're saving those for album number four) at 200 mph, times infinity to the bajillionth power

- As if Dragonforce isn't fast enough, they once played a show while addicted to speed...There were no survivors.

- Whenever there is a threat to our homeland security, the President calls upon Dragonforce to save the day. They arrive in a homemade jet called the Dragonheart, riding with fire burning hot towards the night sky, and use all their might to slay the terrorists and fly off above the winter moonlight...but not before getting boozed and gangbanging the first daughter.

- Herman Li's hair is so long, he once clothed himself with it and nobody noticed he wasn't wearing anything.

- Herman Li's hair is so long, his windmill headbang is considered a deadly weapon, and he is not allowed on airplanes.

- Herman Li's hair is so long, he can swing it around in circles and propel himself into the air.

- In the race between the tortoise and the hare, Dragonforce won.

- When Sam Totman entered a beer drinking contest, they declared someone else as the winner, but only because Sam had finished his beers so fast, no one could see him do it.

- Dragonforce is so fast, that one time their manager made them play a gig under water to slow them down. But his plan backfired, as the motion of their fingers caused a miniature tsunami that drowned all their fans.

- Whenever you hear the sound of thunder in the sky, it's not the weather acting up. It's Dragonforce performing a private show for Elvis. 'Cause Elvis is down with the D-Force.

- A revolutionary new dog whistle has just been released on the market. When you blow it, the sound of ZP's voice comes out.

- Dragonforce taught David Lee Roth how to jump really high in his music videos.

- "The Shredder" from the Ninja Turtles was obviously a fan of Herman Li.

- Leading psychologists have conducted a new study that has determined that exposure to Dragonforce's highly uplifting melodies at an early age has greatly decreased suicide rates.

- Dragonforce's music is like a conga dance: 1, 2, 3, and kick every other power metal band's ass.

- Every member of Dragonforce has special powers. Sam has Medusa pants. Anyone who looks at his white, skin-tight jeans is immediately turned to stone. Herman has the "power of hair" which allows him to fly and to eliminate inferior musicians from a distance. Dave kicks the **** out of people at a rate of fifty kicks to the face per second. Vadim's holy jeans are so mesmerizing, they stun his nu-metal enemies while he tears out every one of their veins and uses them as piano strings. ZP has the power of "balls in a vice grip" wich allows him to put his enemies' balls into a vice grip...

- When something is a little dull or plain, it either needs more cowbell, or more Dragonforce.

- Dragonforce steals the coins out from under children's pillows when they lose a tooth and blow it all on booze and hookers.

- The real reason Adrian left was because Sam was hogging all the beer and would attempt to do solos on ketchup bottles during gigs.

- In a race between a Ferrari and a Lamborgini, Dragonforce wins.

- The only two things visible from space with the naked eye are the Great Wall Of China and Herman Li's hair.

- Dragonforce tends to destroy all the buildings in which they play due to sonic booms.

- Ever since 1999, the year Dragonforce formed, sonic boom related deaths have risen tenfold.

- There's real music, and then there's Dragonforce. Dragonforce doesn't qualify as "real" music, because their skills are so godlike, their music couldn't possibly be created by man, and so it must be unreal.

- One time, Dragonforce played a gig near Mt. St. Helens in Washington state. A sonic boom from their speakers caused one whole side of the mountain to blow up. Little do most people know, that volcano was completely dormant.

- Historians made an important discovery this week when they discovered hidden documents from a thousand years ago, written by William the Conqueror. They appear to be part of his personal diary. In it, he writes his personal thoughts, opinions, and justifications for all of his conquests. He states that the true reason for his invasion of England was so he could go see Dragonforce.

- Chuck Norris listens to Dragonforce. 'Nuff said.

Yeah he played the Simposons Theme :D
Sam was pretty "happy" near the end....so yeah, he had alot to drink.
As for the vocals, they sounded great. :guitar:

I'll check the video out when i get home.

Yeah I had a mask made out of transformers.

I just returned home from that and I Have to say that Dragonforce melted my brain. \m/

Sonata ROCKED!! again ;)

I was already having a sore throat so couldn't sing along, screaming went fine though, but I had to pay for that after the show. I couldn't even say 5 words without coughing.

The show was great again, it wasn't as hot like last time so that helped as well. They had the same setlist, no problem though because it is pretty good imo. The show was pretty much the same in terms of performance as well, except for Tallulah sounding a bit better, which I happened to have recorded

During the beginning of their show I saw two of them security gorillas take away a guy with a camera, that kinda scared me. I didn't really feel like filming last night. But I decided to give it a try during Tallulah because I saw a nice spot, and made a promise to that cutie from the gig two weeks ago, who didn't have tickets for this show :( Will see her next week so maybe I can post a pic again.

Even though I didn't feel like risking my Tallulah video by recording another complete song I decided to just take the Wolf and Raven part of Blank Raven. So I basicly have the part from the guitar solo till the end, and it sure was worth it :D I'll upload the stuff later today.

Manowar kick ass.

Check out Kings of Metal. That album is easily one of the best metal records EVER made.

And last but not least. I'll introduce the glorious event which is the Manowar Drinking Game.

Basically, you and some like-minded metal fans get together with tons of beer. Put on a Manowar album of your choice, and every time the words "true", "blood", "kill", "enemy", "death", "warrior" or "steel" are mentioned, everybody has to down a beer. The winner is the person who manages to find their way home alright (or something to that effect.) :p

EDIT:

BTW: Here's the song that really got me into Manowar. According to Windows Media Player over December 2003 (when I started listening to them) I listened to it 90 times in that month alone. :p It's a ballad, btw, and a good one at that.

Since the Unicorn is a national icon of Scotland I think any true metal band from here could get away with those lyrics. ;)

Hammerfall are just Manowar with a lesser vocalist, a second guitarist and relatively (well to Manowar) no talent. :D Some of their stuff is good, just don't watch the music videos.

Remember, a metal heart is hard to tear apart ;)

I don't like the sound of their studio recordings like I said before. Their backing vocals make my ears bleed, but listen to the One Crimson Night (live) and you will appreciate them a lot more. They're all about the live experience and singing along. Their songs might be a bit on the cheesy end of the metal spectrum but they are good musicians. Joachim has got one awesome metal voice (Hearts on Fire, live), their drummer can keep up pace and makes a nice show out of it, Stefan Elmgren can do some nice solos. They've got some really catchy tunes, making it nice 'entry level' metal but good enough to enjoy time after time when having a beer at a gig of theirs. And Glory to the Brave is one of the best ballads I know.

Hell yeah, Paul de Leeuw made me laugh my arse off  Asking the host for his phone number while giving winks.

Lordi rocked the night, it was great they were acting more like a real rockband after they've won, the first two shows felt like they were taking it easy.

The devil is a loser, and he's my *****!

Love that quote :D

Btw, what's with the people calling it heavy metal? Even Bon Jovi used to rock harder in their old days. Lordi just has a heavier voice, that's all. To me it's just hardrock, heck they even sing about it themselves. I couldn't stand all the talk again about satanism and how evil heavy metal is, bloody ignorant people, why don't they get an informed opinion first.

And this was the first Eurovision that I actually liked, I also appreciated the song by those 6 guys singing "We are the winners of Eurovision!" Finally some countries have got the balls to revolutionalize this dull, corrupt festivity of arse kissing.

Why not let Italy send in Graveworm next year, they don't look as evil like Lordi, just wait till good ol' Stefan opens his mouth  I'm pretty sure my grandmother will fall from her chair. How I loved poking at her when asking about Lordi and their 'monkey suits' xD

Oh and did anyone see that Turkish horse? She and her Ukrainian colleague almost made my ears bleed. And the Russian guy would make a nice standin when they need someone to do voiceovers for a talking goat.

Funny thing taken from the official Eurovision site:
And now, it’s time for the first of tonight’s Semi-Final qualifiers. It’s Dima from Russia, who performs with a newfound confidence after his success of Thursday night. Singing with all his heart, Dima really belts out this moving pop ballad and is clearly exhausted at the end. He is rewarded by screams of excitement by the girls in the crowd (and some of the boys too!). Now why doesn't that surprise me?
