Anyone knows what should be the minimum specs for pSX emulator? I want to re-build a little PC mode of old parts.

Any Idea?

i'd guess that it's pretty low, considering that it's designed to be super efficient and whatnot.

what are the specs of this thing you're planning on creating?

i don't know in most cases, but i always had problems with sound in emulators, i mean, everytime i try with any emulator my sound get's chopped, like
(writed simulation of my problem)(the *tuc* is when the sound gets chopped)(i don't know if it's only the sound, maybe it's the hole game)
tan-*tuc*-tan-*tuc*-tan-*tuc*-tan-*tuc*-tan-*tuc*

(sorry for the strange explication =P)

PS: dunno if this has something to do with my rig or not, but anyway, i need help(i used the search button)
PS2: specs are on the sig =P

your rig is fine, you probably just were using the wrong plugin or the wrong settings, that's all. well, for PS1 anyway. for PS2, dont expect full performance just yet ;)

I still have a
Athlon XP 1900+
Geforce 4 TI 4200
256 PC3000 OGZ
Creative Soundblaster 5.1 (it's old)
Gigabyte GA-7N400

I think that if I want to play any newer emulators I will have to upgrade...but where do I start?

elitejavi: in pSX you could try increasing the sound latency (in Config/Sound) to try to fix your audio problems.

If not I guess it might be a driver problem - try updating the drivers for your sound card maybe?

It usually doesn't take much to emulate a playstation now-a-days. A 1.4 Ghz computer + a modern ATi or Nvidia card would be more than enough. If you have a 3.0 Ghz computer and your running into sound issues, then you may want to adjust the sound settings in the emulator. Otherwise it might be just something strange with the game (after all it is a new emulator). You may want to try a different emulator with a more mature sound plugin (such as ePSXe or PSXeven with Eternal SPU).

already did all those things that you suggested, the only thing i haven't tryed is going back to the 56.72(the last nvidia driver optimised for the FX series) i'm gonna try that as soon as a friend of mine makes me a XG'ed inf for that driver=P

btw, i don't think that is going to repair the problem anyway...

Well I have in stock an old P3@1.2Ghz with 128MB SDRAM and GF4Mx on W2K and I don't want to invest one penny in it.

Is it sufficient?

pff, you can easily run an emulator with a hardware plugin--i'd just recommend playing off an ISO. i built up a little P3 1ghz/GF2mx/512mbSDRAM rig for funsies and it played FF9 flawlessly with ePSXe 1.5.2 and Pete's OGL.

I have a nvidia 6200 and P4 2.4 Ghz .I can only get 30fps with valkyre profile at fullscreen. So i think the minium PC specs must higher than that

PCI-e?
if it's turbocache, then change it as fast as you can, turbocache can really afect everything that you do(you'll have to use phisical memory for the card and for whatever are you doing =P

it is an AGP (nv44 so it don't have extra pipeline :p) it run smooth with ePSXe but with pSX some game make it slowdown

um, no. refer to above where i personally got a P3 1ghz and GF2mx to run FF9 flawlessly. not to mention that PSX emulation was created before the Geforce and Pentium 4 was ever invented.

something is probably wrong with your settings. either you dont have drivers installed, you're running at way too high of a resolution, something just isnt configured correctly, you're running too many programs at the same time, you need a defrag, etc etc. check here (http://forums.ngemu.com/problems-games/65247-troubleshooting-faq-read-first-before-you-post.html) for some general troubleshooting tips. your computer is more than enough for VP (which many people use peops soft for, because it's a 2D game)

ummm..my guerss at the stuttering sound is that Frameskip is enabled...it's a little buggy and skips when it isn't needed, so sound stutter to keep pace/sync

By waiting for the emulators to be done :p

@Chu Tuoc: A TNT2 is fast enough to get any psx game running, you might experience some slowdown at moments (framebuffer effects in Xenogears for example) but all games are fully playable with it. It all depends on what you want to do.

If you want basic psx emulation with minor filtering a 600mhz Celeron with 16mb videocard will be enough. A friend of mine played FF9 on such a computer and it ran perfectly fine.

yes i know ,it just my fault to turn everything on :p.I already finished FF9 with my old PC.This is an old PIII 550Hz with a SIS 305 ,which is the worst graphic card on the Earth (use it and you will know why they can't compete with ATI or Nvidia )

what in the hell are you talking about boy? of course we know how to configure ePSXe and what its min specs are...but that's irrelevant, because chp asked about pSX, not ePSXe. oh, and not only that, but ePSXe's overview/minimum specs are here (http://ngemu.com/psx/epsxe.php) and there is a configuration guide for help on this site already, here. Mostly everything work real fine on my old comp (which i resurected just to test this emu)

Spec : P3 733 mgz
24 mb TNT2 card
512 mb ram pc133
some on-board soundcard

All games i tried run at a real acceptable framerate (from 97 to 100%). The only problems i got were with the PAL version of Symphony of the night which dosn't go full screen and has messed up dialog boxes. So i gue this is pretty close to the minimum.
