Well if you buy that.. then we'll pretty much be with the same specs.. im satisfied with the performance.. But, you might just want to wait for the Athlon XP's even the one clocked at 1333Ghz (XP 1400) whoops the Thunderbird 1.4Ghz.. maybe a GF3Ti200 might also be a better choice..

Xeven: um...the Athlon XP is the one Enigma mentioned in his post. And yes, it's significantly better than the P 4.

For the harddisk, i suggest quantum fire ball, and remember, dont buy seagate.
And for the video card, if u can afford, buy Geforce 3 instead of Geforce 2 gts/pro/ti if you are a hardcore gamer.I still feel a geforce2 gts pro is not enough for me...

OIk, considering I build my computers all the time I know abit about this and pricing, my prices atre only estimates, and my recommendation is if you buy parts do NOT goto pricewatch.com and just get the cheapest thing found, ususally the people selling it to you are bogus, find places with some certificate, like if its CNET certified, trust me, thier service is woth the extra 10-15 dollars a part.
AthlonXP 1.4 ghz is very nice, about even with a P4 2ghz, but no wheres near as good as the Athlon XP 1.57 ghz or something (Athlon XP 1800) The 1.4 athlon XP is about $150 for the processor, and $100 for motherboard, 256 megs of RAM would be $40, for a P4 2ghx the processor is about $600 motherboard $150 and ram $80. Obviously go with the Athlon, it just makes so much more sense, plus, that XP motherboard is one of the nicest mother boards for under $200 I have seen.
Now with all that you save over a P4, you can easily buy a geforce3 TI 500, but if you don't need the good performance from that a geforce2 will do you fine, I recommend 64meg vid card, just because the price difference is not extreme at all.DEFINITELY, unless you want to spend a lot more on Firewire or SCSI go with that IBM HD, I have one and I love it.
Personally I haven't listened to the SB Audigy yet, and I and a sound buff too, have to have good sound, I do own a SB Live and hercules Game Theatre XP, and the game theatre has higher quality that then SB Live, and I believe it significant difference. Personally if I ( more like when) I buy a Audigy I will get the Platinum, but thats becuase I Have midi equipment to hook up through my compoter, and I also make use of the optical in for sounfd from my PS2 (its got everything my hercules game theatre XP has on the Platinum EX version, the regular Platinum doesn't have some extra ports, but take up less room cuz its internal. My recommendation to you is to look at your speakers, if you have really good speakers like Klipsh 400's go with the Audigy, if you have the mid range to low end Cambridge soundworks, you won't notice much of a difference.

Thank for info Ryoga...........
GeForce 3 is too expensive for me so I decided to use GeForce 2 Pro
More about GPU I think I will join Winfast GeForce 2 Pro 64 MB.
BTW today I will go to the mall and check those stuff out.

first off, by no means does the Aureal cards produce the best sound, infact the onboard one that came with an old computer of mine didn't even support bass sound, and they are out of businus, secondly, here is my dream sound card, go ahead and drool, its like $10000 I think http://www.lexicon.com/Studio/

OK, so Aureal out of bussiness. That's because Creative bought the company - what an evil ******* -.
Secondly, NEVER trust any onboard sound. Onboard soundcard are pure Bull****. You said your old computer that has Aureal sound onboard didn't produce bass, so you can't blame anyone. Mobo company always cut the 'good stuff' out of a soundcard when they plant it onboard.
I've heard the comparison. Aureal vortex 2 vs SB Live! 5.1 - and the Bass sound is better on Aureal.
Ask the guys at MadOnion.com's Forum if you don't believe me.
Aureal made fine technology with A3D. nothing beats the original idea. Not even Creative.

hey hey! looks GOOD Enigma! although if you have some cash to spare, you might want to consider going for at least a gf3ti200, your system will have better forward compatibility this way.. nonetheless, the current setup should rip through pretty much anything.. :)

rather low end sorround speakers, if your SB LIVE was without 5.1 the upgrade was worth it to audigy, if it had 5.1, you won't notice to much of a difference at all, even if your SB Live did have 5.1 you might now notice a huge difference.
these will prolly be ny next PC speakers http://www.klipschonline.com/store/product.asp?dept_id=1&pf_id=030

I think the best GeForce card to get from a performance/price point of view is the GeForce2 Pro. Although, I don't think I'll be buying a GeForce.
