I have a modded V7 SCPH 39001 and the laser is not reading my games / dvd's. I opened it up and tried to adjust the laser based on instructions I printed from web sites. After I put it back together it still isin't playing games etc...Can anybody help with with adjusting the laser for my model number. Or if I cant, can someone tell me where to buy a new laser / and installation? thanx

did you check if it haven't fried? I think you won't get too much help in here, since it's mostly emulation forum, not technical one...

How did you adjust it? For me, while it was open, i tested the game(s)--continually adjusting the voltage 'til they worked...then put it back together. Guide I used (http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/ps2_disc_read_error.txt) (I think :heh: ).

Very true. I see no reason why a question like this can't be asked in this forum. People ask plenty of other non emulation related questions.

I opened it and adjusted what I assumed to be the voltage adjustment screws while the ps2 was on and I kept reseting it to see if the game would work with the new voltage setting but it never worked. I turned the dvd screw full rotation clockwise at least 3 times in a moment of frustration and still nothing. I even tried the other screw. I'm going to try again after I look for a faq with maybe pictures or more detailed instructions.

Well, I finally found a faq about ps2 repairs with detail instructions and even pics. It specifically said NOT to open V7 PS2 to do laser voltage adjustments. I suppose I should turn the screws back a little and then I will try the other methods to get games to work ie. the scotch tape or magnet method. For any other PS2 'indiana jones' types, so you wont have to do much searching here is the link for a PS2 Repair Guide..

Thanx for the assistance all......
