Anyways, I've found Wallpaperstock to have a decent selection as well though a good portion of them are cars and chicks (not naked though), but there's other stuff as well.

Actually some people would find the broken down old pickup quite a nice wallpaper, that's why it's there.

Also you're doing it wrong :P as far as I remember you like nature wallpapers, so you should look through the 1000s they have on offer rather than browsing specific users.
In fact nature wallpapers are probably easiest to find, you don't even need a wallpaper site you can just type in mountains or something in google image search and browse through their results.



Another site I know of isn't being updated anymore, it has very few wallpapers, like only 200 or so, but they're all pure quality. It's more a highlight site, every now and then they find a new wallpaper that's worthy and link to it.

Don't get me wrong, gold is a nice colour in real life...but digitally it just doesn't work 96% of the time, especially on a static image as opposed to say an item in a RPG.

Tweaked my sidebar a little (replaced the old drive activity meter with a newer less buggy one and removed the HDD monitor cuz this new one shows all that info as well, added the nVidia GFX card temp viewer and replaced the All CPU Meter and Network Meter with their latest versions + I added CoreTemp to the CPU Meter to show temps).

No, well it chews resources (about 6%) but with a quad-core I don't care.

The old CPU monitor used to read temps using Speedfan which somehow bugged out with the sensors on my board and gave me bogus temps and messed up my CPU fan's speed ...perhaps that's what you were thinking of?
this latest version uses CoreTemp and I have no problem running that 24/7

the sixaxis driver is for my ps3 gamepad.
on the odd chance i disconnect it from my computer and plug it back in, and winXP fails to recognize it properly, i open up that shortcut and click "Load Driver" and then it should fix the problem.
think i've only needed to do this once before; but if i ever have to do it again it would be a ***** to find the executable w/o a shortcut xD

ObjectDuck is inherently ugly (at least the free version). Tried RocketDock? I think it's even superior to ObjectDock's paid version in many ways. The wallpaper's nice though.

I reinstalled Fable and started playing it again. I'm waiting on Fable III. You also may have noticed no Sims 3 icon. Don't worry, it'll be back when I get dragged back in when Late Night comes out. I decided to take a break and get into some other games.

P.S. Since the going around in circles thing about docks came up yet again, I use mine as an alternative to desktop icons. They're bigger and prettier (plus the choice of the icon itself) and it's pretty much purely an aesthetic thing. Using 4:3, I do have the vertical space to spare (I don't use my browser window, nor many windows, maximized). I do not want to have all of them pinned on the task bar as I prefer to leave that mostly for running programs (besides those four which I use often enough). This also traces back to Windows XP where both the taskbar didn't have the functionality of Windows 7's, and the dock itself matches the theme perfectly (I used a custom Black theme (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/Lord_Zedeck/E8600.jpg?t=1286476413)). It might have lost some of the functionality (and doesn't "match, but oh well, maybe I'll use the transparent one or something when I want to), but I still use it all the same, as a replacement for desktop icons.

RocketDock does not have a look but can be configured just like ObjectDock for different styles. If you check back a couple of pages you'll see on my screenshot I currently use an entirely transparent style. It does not even look like a dock but more just like icons I put there.

I do admit that I can't do menus with RocketDock though. I get around that by keeping folders with all my shortcuts on the dock.

While I have many games via Steam, especially current ones, and while that number/percentage is growing, not all of my games are on Steam (less than half on my dock are, about three or four), and I simply prefer it this way.

Steam isn't a replacement for desktop icons, nor even all game icons (I don't like adding games to Steam that aren't on it, the shortcuts in grid view are terrible looking). Should I choose to use anything other than Steam games, and that may include moving Firefox, Winamp, and such back up there if I choose, or any other icon, then I can. I said it was a desktop icon alternative, not a Steam alternative.

Also, for some games that run in small resolutions (Plants vs Zombies comes to mind), if you have the Steam window open and launch it there, if you're not quick enough to close the Steam Window, it'll get resized and moved, which annoys me (and yes, I know about using the tray, but that's not what I prefer).

Notice a trend here? See the "prefer" word alot? Don't care if you think it's useless. Don't care if one feature of Windows 7's taskbar took some "meaning" away from a dock. For the record, I do see the point you're making, but some prefer them, you don't. Move on. You bring this same thing up over and again when a desktop with a dock is posted and it's annoying. You seriously come across as someone who thinks everyone has to be done one way. No docks, icons are useless, things have to be this way, that way is stupid, etc. Give me a break. I don't know about you, but while I prefer my desktop to be as I want, half the fun of this thread is seeing the other ways others do them.

I don't like some of the default options of it, namely, how large the icons get when hovering them (I set mine to barely grow larger, it looks better with a subtle increase). I did try RocketDock once on my other PC after hearing so much of it, but like ObjectDock better. I use the free version. As far as I know, multiple docks and a few extra features is all the free one lacks.

Btw all docklets from objectdock are compatible with rocketdock, the reason i like rocketdock to object (especially the free version) is because of the better performance, more options (together with addons at least) and stability, or at least it was like that last time i checked objectdock.

I am watching ObjectDock use ~11MB on my system (ObjectDock.exe is using ~9.4MB, and Dock64.exe is using ~1.4MB, I don't know why there are two but figure both are for ObjectDock), and I have it set in the options to use as much as it can. I have a dock with 12 icons at 112x112, plus the program running. That's a whooping 11MB. Wow, I won't miss it. Anyone with 2GB or more on a modern operating system probably won't either.

I'm not saying one is better or the other is worse. I just don't see how performance can be that big of a factor. Even if Rocket Dock uses half that, the amount is so small it won't matter.

You didn't seem to catch my drift :P, you said that rocket dock doesn't have drop down menus i linked you that to show you it has and its addon system is pretty well made you can't really bloat it unless you use them but even then it doesn't take up much :P, unlike objectdock, rocketdock comes just with the basic needs but with addons you can pretty much end up with it doing everything you want it to :P.

Uses 16MB in total here between the 2.

That's not much but, your not fully utilizing, when you have lots of menu's and icons though figures can change and it can start to lag also btw when i said resources i didn't just mean only RAM, though like i said its been a while since i used docks.Ughm, why are you comparing how much ObjectDock can use when "fully utilized" (whatever that is) to how much RocketDock uses for you now? Definitely not comparable. How many icons do you use? What size? How much RAM is RocketDock using for you with such setup? Let's say I use two times the icons and have things set to fill my screen on hover (not literally, but it seems ObjectDock does that by default) and I use even ~25MB RAM. Still not going to matter. I still won't care. In the days of needing 1GB for your OS, and people should be having 2GB as what I call an "ideal minimum" (4GB+ recommended minimum for heavier PC users on a primary system), nobody is going to miss 10MB or 20MB. I could understand if someone has 512MB or something, but in that case, they'll be hurting either way, and ObjectDock or RocketDock, they'll basically be just as bad off.

Secondly, what else is to gauge besides RAM usage? CPU usage? That's hard to gauge since Task Manager doesn't show it like you think. Seeing the usage go up to ~15% for me when dragging back and forth across my dock quickly (I get the same amount if I repeatedly open and close a window, so it must be so performance intensive...) doesn't mean it's that demanding, per se. You should know this being that you're on this forum. You might know how ePSXe always uses 100% of a CPU. Does this mean it's bringing said CPU down or "really" using as much? No. Real "usage" is hard to list. The bottom line is, is it smooth? I don't see how any modern CPU should have problems with a dock. If it lags for you, that'd surprise me on an Athlon II. My Core 2 doesn't even blink, and while there was initial lag when you'd first hover it, a Pentium II almost did okay with it. A Pentium 4 or better should have nearly no issues with this.

As for RAM, Steam uses more. Firefox uses more. Winamp uses more. Sometimes they use alot more. So why are we complaining about 10MB docks!? Use whichever you want, they're both pretty much the same idea with different setups. Performance is moot for either on all but lower end and/or old systems.

I SAID ITS BEEN A WHILE SINCE I USED and for your info i never had problems with my current build other then some software conflicts on XP (but that was a software problem mainly with games it appears that it brokes a little the graphics at the place which the dock resides), but i did had with one of my previous ones.... including the drop menus it was somewhere over 30 shortcuts...

O yeah that...it looks terrible and doesn't really compare to what ObjectDock can do with menus.


That said I tried out ObjectDock's menus on or two of my shortcut folders and the list was off the screen...so I don't think menus are for me and I'll rather stick to my folders and good old RocketDock.

I can say as much as that the software is called: "RightClick" - though the actual menu itself if largely customized.

And the things under the win-device-letters are the actual directories on my drives - so keeping ones file-system-layout tidy helps as well for speedy access :)

I also use something called "VirtuaWin", one of the many solutions for having multiple desktops in windows, though none compares to openbox in linux, which i preferably use in my Archlinux environment :)

Source?Seriously? It's a standard Final Fantasy IX wallpaper. I've had that one since at least like 2002 or so. None are high resolution (the highest you find from the official FMV ones are 1024x768, unless they've simply been enlarged, but that don't count), so I don't use them anymore. They're not high enough a resolution.

That reminds me, this (http://www.videogamesblogger.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/vivi-final-fantasy-ix-wallpaper.jpg) wallpaper is pretty sharp, albeit only 1024x768, but the thing is, those in game FMVs were 320x240. How is that one 1024x768 and as sharp, if not sharper, than the official FMV of that? You try taking any scene from any of the FMVs and upscale it that size, it won't look as crisp, not even close. I wish I knew what Square did (the wallpaper I used was one example, all of the official 1024x768 ones from the FMVs are as sharp as that one too). I'd love to be able to make some 1600x1200 ones of some scenes from the FMVs of that game.

I mean the original shot aint great, not the screenshot (which is full quality). My cell camera though it's 5MP tends to make very noisy shots. Somehow the home camera which is just 1MP more at 6MP generally takes much better pics but I didn't have it handy and if I'd gotten up the cat woulda moved.

MP size may not be a really solid indicator of how the quality of picture a camera will take, rather a measurement of the resolution size the camera can take shots at, other factors, mainly the light sensor in the camera is more of a measurement of how good the quality will be. Which explains why my 3 year old phone with its generic 5MP camera takes photos that look incredibly awful, whereas my Sony Ericsson with its 2MP camera takes photos that are much better to look at (but are still crud compared with even the most simple digital camera).

Actually am not... in case you didn't knew i use Win7 and OSX on my computer since years now and the main reason for the apple look is obvious as well since i worked as a graphics designer several years ago and as you probably guessed we used macs at that time for our work so am very used to the design(taskbar at the top and dockbar at the bottom). also i want to keep a similar look on both OS's so that i don't have to look for different things each time i boot up any of those.

other that i can't see myself using a different style just as people here do because me and my wife are used to that style and we can't imagine using a different one :p

If someone likes a dock over searching, so what? I don't see this big deal you have against others using docks. If you really hate them so much, so be it, but putting down someone else's way generally isn't the best way to get them to change their ways or opinions. Just saying...

With Win7 you have no need for Rainmeter or other apps like it. All you need to do is a bit of sidebar dock hunting.

I've messed with Rainmeter before and I can do hundreds of things with the sidebar that I can't do in rainmeter or any of the other sidebar alternatives.

For starters its very configurable, it does need a bit of learning curve but its simple, you can set it up in any way shape you want. A gadget isn't as easily configurable as a rainmeter skin, also what did you try that you couldn't do in rainmeter ? Also just as a side note can you have the date as i seted with gadgets and also have the ability to click through the gadget ? :P

If your talking about this:

Managed to a get a shot with the home camera this time so it should be better quality though the flash may have ruined it a little.
I must say I REALLY like tweaking pics in the LIVE Beta Photo Gallery, it's so easy, the only thing that's missing is some sort of ruler to indicate how big the pic is or the part you're cropping is.

Oh? Cuz I honestly looked around (mainly though in the days before I had Vista with it's sidebar...so before 2009) but usually barely saw more than a calendar or a clock or a minimalistic (or way overinflated/too small) CPU monitoring app but never anything else.

I thought it was all but abandoned. I think I may have even looked for something just for the sake of it and all I found was something that gave it the Windows 2000/ME icons and color themes (it was part of an unofficial service pack or something?). Its not see through though it is more prominent due to the reduction of the image maybe, in a see through the nipples and skin would be a lot more evident at this level of work (not to mention that it would also be evident at the neck not just the chest), the reason for the darker shade around the nipples is because of the shape of left breast, which is pointy, now if the right one was just plain color the left one would just make the whole work look odd.

Yeah, it's a 30" Apple Cinema Display that's attached to the octo-core workstation in the office. Normally using it for video editing, you can see two windows of SD vids without having to resize.

Don't have much choice for native-resolution wallpapers though. :(

I got many tv-series on my computer that I consider "SD".
Example:
Stargate SG-1 Season 10, episode 1.
Length: 43 minutes, 35 seconds.
Size 348 MB.
Frame Height: 352
Frame Width: 624


Just tested this, but I can fit 3 in the width without problems (in the size they start in with VLC, which would be their width)
I can also do 2 and 1/3 vertically. (start bar taken into account)

This on a 1920x1200 display.
If you can fit 2 of those on 1 screen, you would have a resolution of ~1280x768.
