Judging by the way the start menu is built thats XP .

You can get windowblinds at www.stardock.com - Version 4 introduced the ShellStyles (Changed Taskbar aswell) but im not sure its released to win2k/9x/me yet . They are planning to do so however (sometimes later this year) so check out that site .

Advice - DONT mess with windows DLL files . bad idea IMHO .

The uxtheme.dll requires XP, as it simply uses the native theme support.

but you'd rather be installing StyleXP (Recommanded) / Windowblinds if you're in Windows XP .

Windows 2000/NT/ME/9X would have to wait for Version 4 of windowblinds for that . or change shells ..

There is windowblinds for all Windows OS's IIRC .

Just some older systems like ME/9X have less options and less parts of the system skinned .

heres mine, its nothing special, the backgrounds rotates between some 20 pictures or so. the little menu slides up to the top and hides there when im not using it, other than that its quite ordinary, i run at 1024*768 so its a bit blurry but you can still make it out, its like 116k as a gif, rock on.

note the menu has the my computer etc stuff on the top, then on the bottom is the task bar thingy :)

op3n, there is only one problem with your wallpaper, the arctic warfare magnum cannot fire single rounds, they need to be in a clip like you have near the sun glasses. It may be possible, but it would be really slow to reload that way. :heh:

Observe. Pic 3 is your current avatar at a whopping 18.6Kb! Even an uncompressed 24-bit PNG is smaller than that!
Pic 1 is one that I compressed to a fraction of that (3.51Kb)
Pic 2 is your current sig at 50Kb!!!! Twice the limit for sig images!
Pic 4 is one I compressed to less than a fifth of that (9.77Kb)
I suggest you sort this out, as not everyone has a 2 meg leased line.

98 uses 32x32 and 16x16; in XP they added the 48x48 option.
at least, thats how it goes AFAIK...

If I have to make an icon for something I usually make a .ICO file with separate icons for those 3 formats (that looks better than when it gets stretched or downsized)

Found out that my internet explorer icon size is 36 x 35, which means 35 x35(i did not crop exactly)

indeed...my desktop still looks pretty cluttered but i dont care...:p i stilll have My Computer, IE, Network Neighborhood, and Outlook not in the thing and then a bunch of them on the top of my screen so i pretty much can't not make it cluttered

I have keys on my keyboard that launch Outlook,my computer,IE + Controls , media player etc .. special keyboard , though it costed me like any other keyboard ..

My Problem it sometimes gets behind certain windows , even if Always-on-top is marked .. interesting its usually MS windows , like IE and Outlook .

its on top as a replacement for desktop icons , or quicklaunch icons .. aka something that gives me quick access to favorite games/apps at all times . and when it disappers and i have to minimize all windows to see it .. thats not quick :\

Ah, but rooting thru the god forsaken Start menu (even if you have it organized) can be a pain in the ass. I just press win+m to minimize in an instant.

Well, there is a built in windows feature. Make a folder anywhere (Local C: will work). Then fill it with Icons. Now right click on an empty spot on the taskbar. Scroll up to toolbars, click new toolbar, browse to your folder and voila! :)

Reich , that like using the quicklaunch .. but i like the way OD displays things , plus the alpha icons are much better looking that way without taking window space .
