Well I installed Vista. I am planning on reinstalling XP to a seperate partition because my games are suffereing from the 10-15% reduction in speed. Anyways I like Vista's sleek and smooth mac type interface. It's what Windows should have looked and felt like 5 years ago! Finally Windows asks for permission before life altering changes! I am impressed. Anyways heres my desktop. Carmen Electra. =] Shes way overplayed but i still like her sometimes.

The transparency in the start menu is done with a WIP application called ViStart. The program is currently in its 3rd public beta and, I must say, emulates the Vista Start Menu very well. The transparency in the taskbar is done with WindowFX 3.0.

Thanks for the vlad studios link. Tons of funny and great wallpapers.

My current desktop. The icons in the sys bar should actually be hidden but I'm showing them on purpose. Despite all that is running and that is says it is using 12% CPU its actually only using 5%. It just jumps while I am auto de-fraging in background. The RAM is dead on, and thats only cause I forced windows to load the entire kernel and system files into memory.

Some plugin for Foobar. Pretty Popups IIRC. I used to use Winamp, then I got too many anime tracks and at the time Winamp didn't support Unicode and foobar did. I can't really go back now

You'll need AveDesk (http://avedesk.aqua-soft.org/download.html) for this.

After downloading the 1.3 version, downloading this beta version (http://mpj.tomaatnet.nl/AveDesk2preview.rar) from AndreasV site. Once with both in hands, overwrite the old 1.3 files with the beta ones. (IF YOU ALREADY HAVE 1.3 'INSTALLED', READ THE 2.0 README TO UPDATE IT CORRECTLY!) Ok, you now have AveDesk 2.0.

AveDesk alone won't do the work, you'll have to download AveScripter (link (http://avedesk.philc.ca/modules/PDdownloads/viewcat.php?orderby=dateA&cid=5)) and, possibly, Systats (http://dockex.com/index.php?pageId=docklets&dkview=38).

Install everything (they pretty much come with a readme file, or read the site to get more info), then download my attachments. They are each the picture frame and the calendar.

Customize them the way you want and enjoy! :)

Seriously, That just does not look good. Not compared to the many, many wonderful XP styles that were out. I expect some Vista visual styles to pickup as well.

And surprisingly it works pretty well. Finding the proper drivers was a piece of cake since my manufacturer (Zepto Notebooks) had all 64b drivers on their ftp :).

yeah, i dont use that wallpaper myself.. i have better darker ones but they show nipples you know :p anyways, still about WB6: isnt worth of trying it now. it doesnt have good skins for it. yes, the old themes are compatible but meh, they wont look cool. still waiting for SkinStudio 6 for restart theming. :)

Yeah I did some searching on the issue, right now the current solution is to just load up windows xp with vmware/qemu and run office2007 in that.

Nice, Oldschool. I've left the world of Visual Styles behind with Vista, really.
It's somewhat odd that people haven't been making Visual Styles for Vista (Assuming that you probably can get better results\effects with those than with XP msstyles).

People do. But with the same Aero-esque design, no criativity at all. PsycoB at DeviantArt ported a lot of XP themes to Vista Basic styling, too bad he left Vista skinning. ;(

It's XP by the way, I assume all the older members will recognise the tranformation pack, but for those that don't it's something called a BricoPack by the name of Vista Inspirat 2.

It's nice and clean cuz the 100s of shurtcuts are all in those extra toolbars you can see on the taskbar.

That might have been true with Windowblinds 3 or something along those lines.. The newer versions are very low-profile. Having said that, I never bothered to use that since switching to Vista in the RC stages.

Windowblinds just overrides uxtheme and replaces the windows theme. The only "hit" in performance you might see would be a slightly longer boot time and a few extra megs of ram used. I can guarantee you windowblinds will not impact your game performance. Nor would having a bunch of icons on your desktop. :rolleyes:
